TLDR - wastes your time repeatedly Two years ago they installed a level 2 EV charger and things were fine until it stopped working last month. Contacted him to come check it out and repair as needed. He stood us up THREE TIMES. No communication any time prior to cancel. After each of the first 2 fails, he cited family emergency and stomach bug. Which would be fair enough for cancelling the first one. But no communication prior to canceling? Even if you're sick you can write a text or email to notify the client. And then to repeat the non-communication no show another two times? Inexcusable. Prior to the 3rd attempt, I even said "if you can't do Wednesday, please let just say so." So we have been without level 2 charging for almost 2 weeks now and my wife drives her EV as part of her job. We both wasted time scheduling time off work to be home to meet him for no shows. Makes me feel like an idiot for giving him THREE CHANCES. read more

Travis and Black Dog Electric really saved the day for us recently when a tree fell in our backyard, knocking out our power line and damaging our power meter in the process. Unfortunately, due to how old our meter was, we needed a full panel and meter upgrade to restore power. Luckily, BDE was able to come give us an estimate the same day (on a Sunday, with no service charge!) and start work the next day. They were almost half the price of a competing quote, but did the job with all the quality we could ever ask for. It took three days of sorting through 70 years worth of wires and getting SCL to come back to fix a damaged line they had overlooked the first time, but now we're up to code and ready for future home electrification projects like an EV charger and induction stove. Travis and his team did a good job on installing a new panel at my house. However, once the labor was complete and the payment given, Travis never filed the paperwork to get the work permitted. As a result, I have a brand new panel that the city cannot inspect because Travis refuses to file the appropriate paperwork. He has also stopped responding to several courtesy emails, texts and calls from myself and Seattle City Light trying to get the permit paperwork from him, so I am going to have to hire another electrician to file the paperwork. While I did not want to leave this bad review, this appears to be the only way to get Travis's attention to finish the job. I would approach this company with caution, and wait until everything is complete before rendering the full payment. read more

We sought estimates to rewire our entire house built in the 1920's. It had knob and tube and no ground, and we needed an upgrade for a new ductless. We narrowed our choices to two, and we chose Black Dog because Travis offered to do the work for about 33% less than his larger competitor. Plus, even though we really liked them both, we knew with Black Dog, the person we met was the person who would be on site to do the work​. We are delighted with the outcome, even a month or more after the work is complete. We passed inspection without any issues. Throughout the entire project, Travis listened to our ideas and made an effort to satisfy us. When we wanted something that would not pass code, or we saw new opportunities, or we encountered surprise challenges (again, this is an old house), he offered ideas and worked with us to make the most of our project. It took about 2 weeks from start to finish, maybe 3. We would definitely use Travis / Black Dog again and recommend him to any of our friends, neighbors, family, and workmates. I gave his number to my manager without hesitation. Highly recommend Travis. Our drier had an electrical wire overheating which melted the plastic that holds the plug and the matching electrical outlet in the wall.
