Excellent little coffee shop that we stopped in at while we were leaving town. It is a little small, but has an upstairs with a couch and a few chairs - and the downstairs has some seating too. They have some amazing candles to buy and t shirts as well. The coffee was amazing! It was excellently brewed and had just enough sweetness to it. Will definitely be back! read more

This place isa small mom and pop type of coffee shop with some damn good coffee. I was in town for 4 days and stopped there all 4 days. Tried two coffee a days because I couldnt choose. Loved the chai latte hot and the iced milk and honey with extra honey the best. read more

The Top Gun Latte is worth the trip. It was perfectly sweet without being too sweet. The Top Gun was better than the other lattes we ordered. Everyone was really friendly and the location is cozy. A lot of people enjoy Black Bear, so be prepared for a wait and limited parking. read more

This place is amazing! When visiting Clouscroft, I had it two days in a row. The first time I got a Polar Bear iced latte, which is a white mocha with peppermint, and vanilla; AHHH-MAZING!!! The second day I got a Hot Shot Iced Latte, which has vanilla bean, oak barrel (yes, you read that correctly), and caramel drizzle; so so SO good and different! When we walked in, all 3 of the employees were sitting down. The employees were not very friendly or welcoming, it felt like we had inconvenienced them. The inside is very tiny, so we drank our drinks outside. The coffee and tea came out fast which was the only good thing about this place. I had the lavender latte and it was not very good; no flavor at all and was like drinking just milk with a hint of coffee. read more

I stopped in here for a jolt of java before our hike around the Osha trail. I walked in late Sunday morning, just before the big rush that created a long line. My friend was getting impatient, but got her coffee. I ordered a Mountain latte with almond milk since the shop was out of skim milk. The drink tasted surprisingly smooth. This is a small place across from the Baptist Church on Burro street, and seating is limited. Even the outdoor seating is limited to one table and two chairs. We were a group of three. Free wifi, too. Just ask for the password. No dogs allowed inside except service dogs. It was National Coffee Day, and all coffee drinks were an additional 15% off. read more

We went to Cloudcroft for a get away vacation. I figured I was going to drink cheap home brewed coffee the full trip, but then we found this gem. Black Bear coffee is amazing! They have a menu of coffee's and Tea's. The place was small but had plenty of additional space upstairs. I tried their chai tea and a latte. Both I would get again but the chai was amazing. The brewista's were friendly and would help costumers pick the right order. Cost was way better than Starbucks. Wish they had one in Texas. read more

This place been stablished for the past four years. It was our first time visiting this coffee shop. Not our first time in Cloudcroft the owner and the staff are very friendly. The coffee is delicious! The have outside seating in front of the coffee shop. Small table with two chairs. They have a very original coffee menu, with the coolest names. This is a lovely place to get coffee! Everyone is so friendly and the menu is so complete; they can whip up anything you want. As you're waiting for your delicious coffee, you can look at the beautiful paintings and gifts. And if you want to hang out for a while, you just go upstairs, drink your coffee and ponder the pines. Got the 'Feeling Nutty' latte and it's quite possibly the best flavored latte I've ever had! Service was fast, very nice people. Took it to go and enjoyed it during my drive. They were open on Thanksgiving day which I'm very thankful for since I was only visiting and I really needed my dose of coffee for the morning! The place looked really cool but I was in a hurry to really enjoy it. The owners were really cool with their employee at the register which was so sweet to observe! read more

Such a great coffee shop! The staff was incredibly friendly and the coffee was delicious. I got an iced White Bear with pistachio syrup (at the suggestion of the barista) and my husband got a black coffee; we were both pleased with our choices. An added bonus? First off, I was tempted to give them, I dunno, maybe 2 stars for false advertising. There are in fact no bears inside the coffee shop. Black or otherwise. I even checked upstairs to no avail. Unless you count the logo, so I guess I'll give them a pass....because the coffee is so delish. There's no where else in Cloudcroft or nearby Alamogordo that rivals it. Best latte? Easily the Hot Shot, a unique drink that uses oak barrel. Best drip coffee? Peru, followed closely by Java. read more

Always a must when we go to Cloudcroft. Doesn't matter if we are full from lunch or dinner we always get a coffee from Black Bear. Usually a black coffee drinker but had to try their Feelin' Nutty, absolutely loved it and keep going back for one. Love talking to the baristas all the time, really nice and welcoming. Overall a great stop and a must in Cloudcroft. read more

Where this goes horribly south is the LARGE automatic gratuity that they decided to impose on us because we had 7 adults and 1 infant at the same table, even tho we came in 3 separate groups and paid as 3 separate groups. 20% they wanted to charge us, not the state define 15%. Both of which I think is both unethical and not right in any way, as a gratuity is supposed to be based on the level of service received and not as an automatic supplement because the business doesn't want to pay the employees adequate wages. The service we received WAS NOT worth anywhere near even the 15% the state recommends. The server takes the order, and delivers the order, the same as any fast food chain. We had to get our own water and drinks. They don't stop to ask if we want anything else, refills, more cider/beer, desert, NOTHING! Yet they want to auto bill a gratuity of 20% for services that are NOT rendered. We did talk to the server, and he said that's how it was and there was nothing he could do. So we asked for the manager. She finally came and said she could remove it but it would take a while. However, all she did was provide a discount to lower the price to "compensate" for the gratuity, which wasn't a total discount, as it was still 88 cents more than the original bill, AND the auto gratuity was still in the bill! Ok, guess who didn't get any extra tips. So this server got his normal hourly rate, we were there roughly an hour, as well as an additional $30 + in auto gratuity to simply take an order and have someone else deliver it, he did absolutely nothing else for us to earn that level of gratuity. Keep in mind, we were NOT a group of 8 as the small print on the menu states. This was very aggravating and very unprofessional.

She showed me an incomplete bill but after it was added correctly I tried to review it on the POS screen. The server quickly skipped forward to the card tap screen. I added a tip and asked to see my final bill, then discovered 18% gratuity was already added. The final tip was nearly 38%. As I explained the error, the two servers at the register became belligerent and told us to step out of the way. No offer to see a manager or apologize for the error. The food nor the service warranted the price paid. Place is run down and I was hoping the food was clean all the time I was eating.

I love the coffee they use, very smooth with great flavor. The Kolaches were warm and delicious. As a local, I definitely found my go-to coffee spot.
