Excellent little coffee shop that we stopped in at while we were leaving town. It is a little small, but has an upstairs with a couch and a few chairs - and the downstairs has some seating too. They have some amazing candles to buy and t shirts as well. The coffee was amazing! It was excellently brewed and had just enough sweetness to it. Will definitely be back! read more

We were excited to try this place as it got decent reviews and it was located within the heart of the little village of Cloudcroft. I ordered the pumpkin spice latte and my fiancée ordered the hot shot both with oat milk. We were both pretty disappointed in the lack of flavor for both, even after we went back and had the barista add 2 extra pumps of syrup. Not sure what went wrong but ultimately we tossed them both and picked a different spot. The syrups they use are the natural Monin brand which are usually pretty light, so maybe it was the syrups or the way they were mixed. We probably won't be back as we were pretty sad about both drinks just being not up to par. read more

This place isa small mom and pop type of coffee shop with some damn good coffee. I was in town for 4 days and stopped there all 4 days. Tried two coffee a days because I couldnt choose. Loved the chai latte hot and the iced milk and honey with extra honey the best. read more

When we walked in, all 3 of the employees were sitting down. The employees were not very friendly or welcoming, it felt like we had inconvenienced them. The inside is very tiny, so we drank our drinks outside. The coffee and tea came out fast which was the only good thing about this place. I had the lavender latte and it was not very good; no flavor at all and was like drinking just milk with a hint of coffee. read more

We went to Cloudcroft for a get away vacation. I figured I was going to drink cheap home brewed coffee the full trip, but then we found this gem. Black Bear coffee is amazing! They have a menu of coffee's and Tea's. The place was small but had plenty of additional space upstairs. I tried their chai tea and a latte. Both I would get again but the chai was amazing. The brewista's were friendly and would help costumers pick the right order. Cost was way better than Starbucks. Wish they had one in Texas. read more

This is a lovely place to get coffee! Everyone is so friendly and the menu is so complete; they can whip up anything you want. As you're waiting for your delicious coffee, you can look at the beautiful paintings and gifts. And if you want to hang out for a while, you just go upstairs, drink your coffee and ponder the pines. Pumpkin King. A new drink. So very good. Not overly sweet which is perfect for me. I'm the gal that orders most sweet drinks with half the syrup. What's better than a good cup of coffee? Such a great coffee shop! The staff was incredibly friendly and the coffee was delicious. I got an iced White Bear with pistachio syrup (at the suggestion of the barista) and my husband got a black coffee; we were both pleased with our choices. An added bonus? Got the 'Feeling Nutty' latte and it's quite possibly the best flavored latte I've ever had! Service was fast, very nice people. Took it to go and enjoyed it during my drive. They were open on Thanksgiving day which I'm very thankful for since I was only visiting and I really needed my dose of coffee for the morning! First off, I was tempted to give them, I dunno, maybe 2 stars for false advertising. There are in fact no bears inside the coffee shop. Black or otherwise. I even checked upstairs to no avail. Unless you count the logo, so I guess I'll give them a pass....because the coffee is so delish. There's no where else in Cloudcroft or nearby Alamogordo that rivals it. Best latte? Easily the Hot Shot, a unique drink that uses oak barrel. Best drip coffee? Peru, followed closely by Java. read more

Always a must when we go to Cloudcroft. Doesn't matter if we are full from lunch or dinner we always get a coffee from Black Bear. Usually a black coffee drinker but had to try their Feelin' Nutty, absolutely loved it and keep going back for one. Love talking to the baristas all the time, really nice and welcoming. Overall a great stop and a must in Cloudcroft. read more

She politely asked if it could be remade with a little less sweetness. The barista, who I can only assume was the owner based on this interaction, responded incredibly snippily, saying she would remake it but would normally charge us for an entirely new drink. When I asked for clarification, she snapped that she meant the WHOLE latte and proceeded to explain that she makes every drink with "quality control" to ensure it is made correctly, but it might not be our "preference." She also made sure to emphasize how wasteful it was to remake it. I have never experienced such an unnecessarily hostile response to such a simple, reasonable request when it comes a latte. Someone's preference for coffee is subjective and customer service should still matter to an owner of a business. We came in excited to support a local business and left with a terrible impression. If this is how customers are treated over a latte, I can only imagine how other issues would be handled. There are plenty of coffee shops that understand customer service is just as important as the product they serve, and those are the businesses I would rather support.

Pretty much every question was followed by a "Huh?" or "Could you repeat that?" from us because we genuinely couldn't understand what he was saying.
