New executive chef and some wonderful things coming out of the kitchen! New wine tasting room with excellent whites and reds. Definitely worth a taste and as I did bring some home! As usual the bar has great drinks.

Please save yourself time and money and just go around the corner to the cheaper burger diner! The menu and food posted here is not accurate, as these reviews and photos are before they closed and reopened. Their current menu is about 15 items, none of which are kid friendly. Calamari is about the closest kid friendly appetizer they have. My fiancé and I dined here with the kids while passing through town. The fried calamari and soup came out quick, the appetizer chicken salad came out 45 mins later. I asked our waitress about it and she said the chef is making the chicken. Then she walked away and brought it right out- the chicken was cold. She had clearly forgotten about it. We paid $88 for 3 burger meals (the burger was all bread and no condiments), an order of calamari, an appetizer salad, and an order or penne that came with clam chowder. Never again will we come here. They should be ashamed of the food they are putting out. We almost left before even ordering food because of the sad menu. But we aren't rude like that.

Black Bart is a restaurant you must go too! I had the clam chowder soup and the linguine and clams and it was delicious. Food had a lot of flavor! Also the prices were very good. Not to expensive at all. The place also has a little area where they do free wine tasting, thought that was pretty cool. The wine we tried was good. Their was one wine I didn't like but the others were great! Atmosphere was very historic, and great service. Our waitress was awesome! The Black Bart is definitely a place I would go back to grab a bite to eat.

The best chef in town at Black Bart !

I thought the crispiness of the chicken was absolutely perfect; however, I did think the chicken meat itself lacked a lot of flavor. I thought the fries were cooked to perfection and tasted great with the spice blend that I believe the owner created himself. Some things that would have made it a lot of better was if they had added some lettuce or onions to the burger as it was literally just a piece of fried chicken sandwiched in between 2 buns for $12. The loaded fries could have used some more toppings like onions, some bacon bits, jalapenos, cilantro, and maybe drizzled with a homemade creamy or spicy sauce. These additions would not only take their food to the next level but just give the food that extra pop of color to make it more appealing! The store was hard to find and was located on a one way street in downtown Stockton. There is not a clear sign outside on the building besides a stand up sign outside. From the outside, it may look closed. Tip: I parked about a block away and decided to walk. They are at the end of a chain of stores located right next to a parking lot! It was also empty when I visited and there was a lot of seating. The service was great as they took my order and had my food ready within 10 minutes. Although I understand it is located in downtown which can get more dangerous at nighttime, I wish they had the option to do delivery or be open later as this would made a perfect a quick dinner or a late night snack delivery. I hope to be back to try some of their desserts.

It was a very good choice, busy cranking out the tunes, the pizzas and happy faces left and right. I liked the place it's been here for years and it shows it's age tirelessly. Bench seating with tables for the overflow. A large video arcade room for the kids, not quite astroids and pac-man but those were the days. Walk ups and order from the flat screen menus Pizza, sandwiches, and salads you get the idea. I Ordered a thin crust pie with pepperoni, artichoke, black olives, and sliced tomatoes. The push the pies through an impinger oven not my favorite but it is basically idiot proof and fast and that works here. Orders a salad bar trip and we shared the salad,. Plenty of good toppings not just the cheep no-one eats it toppings. The leaf mix was very good, weeds or romaine/ iceburg / spinach. I'm made it a two trip salad bar. Pizza was out in a bout 20 minutes, ok maybe 18 minutes Hot and Fresh no waiting it was oven to table as fast as you possibly could walk it. There ya go, we left two slices for the dog and took our walk back in the cool Angel Camp evening, full and happy with our choice. Foodguy-Martin

After a fun-filled day wine tasting in Amador County, my friends and I were in need for some…read morecomfort food to end our day. This takes me to the small community of Mokelumne Hill (which is in Calaveras County) where I got to check out "Renegade Winery". Don't let the word "winery" fool you as this place not only serves some delicious wine but is also a full-on restaurant that has some good old standard American food. Since I know this area quite well and have been to neighboring areas such as Jackson and San Andreas, finding this place wasn't too difficult. But for some, it might be a challenge. When arriving on Highway 49 (from Jackson), you have the option of making a left on Campo Seco Turnpike OR a left on Main Street. The business is directly at the corner of Main & Center St's while being across the street from the historic I.O.O.F. building which neighbors a blacksmith business. If you're into ancient structures, definitely check this place out. Going back to Renegade Winery, they offer a variety of red and whites from nearby Amador County. In addition to their wine selection, they also have beer and regular soft drinks for consumption. But the main reason why we came here was their food! This includes comfort classics such as bruschetta, a meat/cheese platter, and a few others. They also carry a nice selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Finally, I wanted to add that they even offer a brunch menu on the weekends including mimosas. My significant other and I split their pesto pasta w/garlic bread while our friends tried a quesadilla and Caesar salad. As far as the interior layout of this place, it almost has that old town saloon feel to it which is the perfect fit for the gold country. The amount of distressed wood is presented throughout while the large collection of wine bottles is quite impressive. The employees that work here definitely made us felt welcome as if we were in someone's home. I also wanted to add that the exterior seating area was equally impressive with an abundance of tables, hanging lights after the sun goes down, and even a small stage for live music. If it wasn't for the heat (it was around 100°F on 6/22/2024 at 3:45pm), we would probably eat outside. As far as our pasta, they give you huge portions and more than enough to feed 2 people comfortably. The pasta was cooked well while there was a nice amount of basil in the pesto. It wasn't over-the-top amazing that you'd find at an Italian restaurant in a big city but still quite delicious and affordable (at around $16). Even our friends' spicy quesadilla had 4 large slices that can be split between two. Considering that you get a mix of everything (winery, draft beer, and food), this place has you covered. All in all, "Renegade Winery" is a place that I highly recommend. Keep in mind that they are ONLY open for business Fri/Sat from 11:30am-8pm and Sun from 9am-4pm while being closed from Monday through Thursday. So if you're taking a trip up to Big Trees or maybe Twain Harte or even Yosemite National Park, this is a great stop with above average service and very decent prices. My rating, an above average four stars.
