Everything was solid though the potatoes in particular were really good and my cousin kept stealing them off my plate! I also liked the sausage. My cousin went with a full plate of pancakes and I had the one pancake with my meal, and while they were good I felt they were both a little underdone. They didn't really have any color on them. Though the dusting of cinnamon along with the sugar was a nice touch. I would have also liked the option to go for real maple syrup (vs the individual Smuckers containers that they had) and would have gladly done an upcharge for that. Staff was really nice, though, and it's huge so there's plenty of seating during peak tourist season. Very kid friendly, too!

I enjoy the Othello (sans pesto, of course) but most often create-my-own. Last time I was there I had local goats cheese (swoon-inducing) on multigrain (OMG freshly-baked and so so so good) with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, lettuce, roasted sweet red peppers, honey mustard (made by local mennonites!) & mayo. I always add the "deli dills" - I'm pretty sure they're local mennonite too. Needless to say, PHENOMENAL. They also have THE MOST AMAZING 4-bean salad. Try it. Trust me. I don't even LIKE bean salad all that much... this one converted me. Really. GET IT. They lose a star because it's time to fix the service. It takes waaay too long to get your food, and that's true whether you eat in or order from the take-out window. Service is a bit better for breakfast, but still nothing to rave about. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your food. The kitchen & waitstaff are unfortunately more often than not visibly frazzled/stressed. We were in luck when driving down Downie Street when we found Foster's with a parking spot in front. So happy that worked out. I had the harvest vegetable wrap and it was delicious. Huge serving and very tasty with a number of unique flavors that complemented each other. I couldn't finish my sandwich and ended up bringing the leftovers back to the US, where my husband finished it two days later and commented that it was still delicious. My cousin had mussels and said they were wonderful. Service was excellent and got our food to us quickly so we wouldn't be late for our show. Our room looked nice: a huge jacuzzi tub in the corner (not in the bathroom). Quaint and beautifully decorated (old school inn vibe). BUT: A lot of things do not work. Air con does not work at all. Room got stuffy. Jacuzzi tub? Water is leaking into it from the faucet. In the bathroom there is no shower gel (they put lots of moisturizer, shampoo, etc). Must be an oversight by housekeeping. No in-room safe either. Windows can only open tiny bit (we needed to open windows for fresh air). Elevator so slow, glacial speed. Staircase was nowhere to be found! Several times we were in a hurry ... and the backlog was just crazy. Breakfast: why open the restaurant only at 8 am!? Too late for conferences. Slow service. Spotty too. They forgot our yoghurt parfait. Everything is slow here. If you stay here, better not be in a hurry. Nothing will get done in time. Breakfast itself is alright (see photos). Restaurant is beautiful with stained glasses. All clients seem to have retired. There's a retirement home vibe ...
