This is a strategically placed BJ's with an on-premises gas station in South Jersey, within a few miles between the NJ Turnpike (Exit 3) and I-295 (Exit 27). We were able to fill up on gas on our recent one-day roadtrip down to DC, both going and returning. On the return trip, we were able to hop on I-295, bypassing a long stretch of the NJ Tpke, thereby saving a big chunk in tolls. As with all gas stations in NJ, the pumping is done by attendants, though if none are available, you can do it yourself like I normally do in NY. Gas prices are on par with other BJ's and is usually 20-25¢ less than at other area stations. If you use the BJ's MasterCard, you also get an additional 15¢ per gallon discount. After getting gas on the return trip, we also went into the warehouse store to use the facilities and do some of our weekly shopping to grab fresh fruit, vegetables & other necessities. And maybe a 3 lb box of Oscar Mayer Bacon because who can resist the call of bacon? read more

I'm new to the area and didn't know where the bags were so I asked the employee at checkout where I could find bags. She was extremely rude and just said "over there" and pointed in a direction. When I asked her if she could be more descriptive than that she just said the same thing. I Love BJ's. I remember going to BJ's wholesale club when I was young, living at home w/my parents who had a membership and the closest location was all the way in Mount Laurel while we were living in Erial, NJ. (I was born & raised in South Philly so if you can't walk to a where you're going, it's considered far for me, lol. City Girl :). Anyway, continuing the tradition, when I turned 18 & had my 1st apartment, I bought my own membership and have always renewed. So delighted to have this convenient location in Deptford (although I'm still hoping they build one even closer to the Washington TWP, Monroe TWP/Gloucester TWP area). It's a nice big, bright & clean location. Prices are great, they have awesome prices with name brands & their own brand. Aisles are wide, not crowded. Plenty of checkouts. Parking lot is convenient & spacious. And if you have their credit card, buy the items from the monthly coupon book, you can then save so much on their gas station!! 10 cents off per gallon just for using their Mastercard plus even more if you buy those specific items, another 10 cents off per gallon per item!! Do you realize how much you can save simply by shopping here?!?! A little research thru their coupons and their monthly specials and markdowns can save you $$$$$$ all around. I don't know about you, but I'm all about getting the best deal, especially on the necessities and the brands & quality. ( I believe a price tag is a suggestion, lol. I prefer to wait, search & wheel & deal to get the most for my $$ without skimping). I really rate this BJ's a 4.5 star (taking a 1/2 point away bc sometimes they stop carrying or change items that I'm used to buying there. Great place! Always bursting & stocked to the ceiling at all times and the deli rocks! The American cheese is ALWAYS (only) $3.99/lb and it's one of my fav brands - Land O' Lakes. My 'main' food shopping haunt is Shoprite. At BJ's, I go for their deli, milk, sour cream, gigantic boxes of Shredded Mini Wheats, bread, V8, chicken nuggets, Eggos and their awesome Jamaican beef patties - sooo good. I heard that their cakes are really good but I'm a Shoprite BUTTER (not 'better'!) cream girl all the way! There is also a GREAT selection of cards at deep discounted pricing, DVDs and even the 'Forever' stamps. I've also bought a decent amount of CLOTHING from here too, believe it or not. The cute summer dresses are the best - $30 each and I've literally seen the SAME brand ones at Macy's for $80!!! Woo hoo! I get my mom flowers here - beautiful and fresh all the times I've gotten them. Tulips are seasonal but the roses are also on hand. Beautiful assortment of colors as well! I dislike their bananas - always go bad quickly on me and their temperamental 'self check out' lanes. ALWAYS an issue -even when I'm excited on making it 90% of the way through the line. Today I actually said, "Well this will go in my Yelp review." I never cite Yelp IRL like that but this place deserved it. Holy terrible service! This was a trip mostly for my grandmother. She had provided a list of items and I was trying to find them. I don't visit often so I'm not an expert on their store's layout. I circled the entire store looking for 9-volt batteries. Couldn't find them or even staff on the floor. At the cashier we asked where to find them. The cashier was brand new and had no idea. Her trainer said, "Somewhere in the middle I think." Helpful. Super helpful. Couldn't be more descriptive. I was clearly annoyed, especially considering how many other staffers up front were essentially just twiddling their thumbs. Safe to say my grandmother isn't the proud owner of any batteries. They also asked me for the price of another item because apparently it didn't have a tag. I said I thought $17. It was like $19.98 in actuality, which the guy told me in a tone that made it sound like I was trying to get $2 off. Well, no, I just don't have your store memorized...just like the people who get paid to work there. Don't talk to me like that. I'm sure the staffers will just find this review funny, but it'd also be cool if they could secretly learn from it and maybe be better to other customers. Also the boxes to put stuff in are so far from the registers. Meh. Otherwise BJs has normal bulky items. Fresh dates on produce and meat. Good for families and hoarders. BJ's Gas Promotion is very deceptive. They have a current promotion for 50 cents off per gallon of gas at the BJ's pumps if you spend $100 in-club on the same day. So I spent $191; but since my gift card purchase couldn't be rung up using the self-checkout feature, I totaled up my other purchases and headed to an in-store clerk to ring up the gift cards. This left me with two transactions: one for $93 and another for $98. Shortly thereafter, I noticed that the gas discount wasn't applied to my purchase at the pump, so I returned to the store to speak with a manager. That's when I met a very rude person named "Kimberly" (per her nametag) who flatly informed me that the two transactions needed to be combined into one for the gas promotion to apply. I asked her where that was posted, and she replied tersely that "it's in the fine print." I asked to see the policy with the fine print, but she said that they don't have a copy at the customer service desk; that she doesn't need to read the policy to know what it says but that I could "go look at one of the signs or something" in the store which I promptly did. The only fine print on the in-store signs, (aside from a general "Visit BJs.com/gas to learn more") said, "Gas discount and purchases must be made on the same day." There was nothing to indicate to an in-person shopper that there was an important additional requirement not being disclosed on the big in-store signs. In fact, by posting, "must be made on the same day," it's almost as if they were hoping to trick people into not qualifying. This store is on a downward spiral, getting a little bit worse every day. "Rude" doesn't capture the attitude Kimberly displayed towards long-time members. My husband and I returned our order. read more

So.... I've been to this location twice this week. This is my local BJ's and it is clean and well stocked. However, both visits the employee at self checkout with the huge eyelashes ignored customers while eating a lollipop and gossiping with another employee. Watched me as I picked up a case of Snapple and didn't even bother to come and scan. Then today, she had a change in her snacking preference and ignored customers as she ate a candy bar. I would love to see at my next visit that she has been reassigned to stocking cases of water to make up for all the hard work that she's not doing now. That would make my day! read more

This is the only place I get gas, I'm trying to 1 save that money& have a nice time. I have never been there and not had a nice experience. All of the employees are quick with service& polite. I didn't give it a 5 star only because one day I was headed to work it was 40 minutes after the opening& no one was there to help! Luckily I had enough gas to get to work& back home. read more

When my girlfriend said she was going to show me BJ's I was totally excited. Then I found out she meant the store. What a letdown. But this is an ok large box, large portion store. I noticed some things that seemed like good deals, and others that were not. The seasonal offerings are interesting, and I noticed a few cool gift ideas for the holidays. It was easy to shop in on a weekday, and for the most part patrons were really loading up their carts. My only complaint is the checkout, and that you can't use bags. I would probably not buy my groceries here anyway. My biggest surprise was the gas station that is open for members and non members alike. At $1.78 a gallon this was the cheapest price I saw in the area. They have nothing in stock, and suggest that you order tires online and then make an appointment once they show up. Who has time for that?? How about I make my own tires, and bring them in? If I could give zero stars, I would. Placed a same day delivery order actually to be delivered the next day. Delivery time came and went, no order. Called the store to see what was going on, and was told that they had no order on record. But, I was able to see the order online. Despite having placed it over 24 hours ahead of time, the status still showed only as "created" with no further update. Finally got a "manager" on the phone who told me that Doordash stole the order and I had to call them. So I called Doordash and they say they don't know what I am talking about and that I need to call BJs back as they never received an order. So I speak to the "manager' at BJs again and he says he's going to look into it and call me back. 5 hours later, no call and no update. So I call him back, and he tells me it is an "IT" problem and that they need IT to release the order. He will call me back. I wait until this morning as I heard nothing back overnight and log in and see the order is "cancelled". So here I am 3 days later with no food for my family. Called BJ's corporate and they tell me they can't do anything about it. Not once did someone from BJ's call me back with an update. Not even an offer to waive the $14.99 service fee if I wanted to re-place the order. Customer service at it's worst. After being a customer for 25 years, I am done with BJ's. I just had a wonderful experience like I always do in this BJ's the nicest gentleman that works for them just walked me to my car and picked up the cases of water and tea that I had and let me tell you it might sound like nothing but with having the health issues that I have it was wonderful and such a great help I did not ask for his help but it was a true blessing today to receive it. THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR BJ'S DEPTFORD NJ'S NEW "PICK UP" SERVICE AND DURING THE COVID-19 TIME. I will CONTINUE to shop at BJ's for fair prices and quality. I shop at both BJ's and Sam's Club because of certain products being available at either one, however, I had to go out of my way today to come to yelp to register my complete dissatisfaction with my experience with their "pick up" service. I ordered using the PICK UP service, hoping to avoid having to go through the lines. I figured I would let BJ's gather my items, pay for them in advance, relieve the pressure off the people in line, and then pick up my order at the big new red boxed area right at the front of the store right next to the entrance. IN AND OUT! ONLY THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENED. NOW AGAIN, ONLY because of the Covid-19, BJ's has reconfigured its aisles into a cattle chute which forces people to go one direction, all the way through the store. The problem with this is that the way you pick up the ordered items is to go to the customer service area. (I looked all over the "PICK UP AREA" shed and saw no instruction outside of "employees only") As it is, the ONLY way to get to the customer service area now is you have to go through the whole damn store, walk past the long line of people waiting to check out to then stand waiting in line at customer service. HERE'S A BIG, GIANT, FAT TIP for the people working at the customer service desk: when it's busy, like a Friday at 1PM, and when there's ONLY ONE PERSON working customer service, if you have someone step up and want to start the mysteriously long process of buying a membership, you should SCREAM for someone ELSE to come up to the desk and help the LINE of other people waiting for customer assistance. So I waited for at least 10 minutes (I'm still mystified as to why it takes so long to create a membership) to finally get up to say I wanted to pick up my order. Well, it's not like my order is waiting THERE - here you go... The customer service person looked at my driver's license and printed out a receipt. Now they have to call another person who I have to wait for. THEY come up and they're handed a device which suspiciously resembles a phone with an app. (WHY isn't everyone working there already carrying around such a device and they're already signed in?) That person then looks at my driver's license, had to put in their ID information which had more digits than it takes me to login to my bank account to see that yup, the order is waiting JUST LIKE THE PRINTOUT SAYS. Now, OK, it turns out that they got my order wrong, and I had to wait until they got the right items, but seriously, they should have the person who stands **at the door** have the ability to get "the picker" to the "shed", and let such customers just cut across to the pickup to pickup to the order which is already paid for, rather than make people go through THE ENTIRE STORE to then wait in line at customer service. I WILL shop at BJ's again, but for ANYONE, DURING THIS TIME OF COVID-19, this "pick up service" is a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. read more

For one it's not as cheap as other wholesalers. Second they actively make the process more confusing and difficult and have pretty poor customer service. They break up the line and scatter the guests, so there's a good chance the people you finished shopping 10 minutes before will be checking out before you because there's no way to tell which lines are going to move quicker, and much like on a gridlocked highway I always pick the wrong lane. It wouldn't be a problem if they just allowed people to wait in line normally. You also will need someone to come by every third item to scan their card and tell the system you're not stealing, and you'll have to wait about 2 minutes for them to come do that while a line of people behind you are upset because people that were behind them are now checked out and leaving. read more

I can only speak on my experience at both the warehouse & gas station. I always have been met with courtesy at the warehouse although I have witnessed rudeness by shoppers towards staff but not the reverse and the gas station is also courteous plus there's a Brother who is an attendant who was helpful & is a Nipsey Hussle twin. This is an awesome BJs. The service is really great for such a big store. I buy everything from bulk food to watches and televisions here. The prices are just unbeatable. They have a great deli counter here thAt used to REALLY suck. Everyone who worked there was a jerk and they never but your stuff to the requested thickness. Now the staff is awesome, but there's always 5,000 people in line. I try to go early and SPRINT to the back of the store to get a good number. They do amazingly thin-sliced turkey and cheese and what not. Oh, and cheap gas. Like, really cheap. NOICE. read more

Guys at tire center are great, but management, come on, get them some help. I purchased a set of tires mainly to get the warranty which is more hassle than it's worth. First of all you need an appointment to even get a nail pulled out and a plug put in. Even with an appointment there are only two guys working at most. On two separate occasions I have waited over a half hour just to get service. One time I waited at the tire center for 40 minutes along with five other customers before someone even greeted us. Today I called because I have a leak in my tire. It's December 3. They told me the soonest I could come in would be December 11. No thanks I'll go somewhere else. The same thing I will do the next time I need tires. Go somewhere else. Would never recommend BJ's card center to anyone. read more

8/18/12 was the first time I went to BJ's and that was in South Philly. BJ's is just like Sam's Club in my opinion because they sell items in bulk which is really a good thing. There are some things that BJ's sell that Sam's Club does not. This store along with others is nice, big, and carries a lot. Staff is usually helpful and nice. read more

Worst gas station attached to this BJ's. Credit only, no cash accepted. Long wait to get our turn and the attendant was very put out to serve us. She appeared visibly annoyed when we answered, Yes we would like a receipt, when she asked. Took her time to walk across the lot and came back to hand us a blank receipt...nothing on it and she hadn't looked at it before walking it over. We asked for a new copy and waited another 5 minutes to be told by a different attendant, We can't print a receipt for you. Won't be back. read more

Stopped at the Deptford location today for gas. As I have done with every car I've own for the past 15 years, I requested a fill up of premium gas. There was some kind of problem with the pump. When I looked to see what was happening, I noticed that the attendant was putting regular grade fuel in my car. My car does not perform at its best on regular. This was a simple mistake that could have been avoided had the attendant listened to me or read the information at the gas cap on my car. Not the end of the world. Just an inconvenience. Watch the pump to be sure the proper fuel is being dispensed. I stopped at Pep Boys and purchased an octane booster. Problem solved..........but at an additional expense to me. read more
