The worst rib-eye steak I've ever had, cooked medium, it was so tough I couldn't eat it!! Very poor quality of meat.

They have amazing burgers! Oh and make sure to try the homemade green ranch dressing, it's so good!

I've only been here once at this new location (and once at the old), and while I typically like to visit at least 2 times before reviewing a place (unless it is really awesome or really bad), my mom and her coworkers visit a lot and her opinion matches mine on this place. It is all about the burgers. Really good beef, good portions, with choice of fries/onion rings/chips and the toppings on the side. Full menu of grill type favorites like BLTs, chicken salad, club sandwich, soups, and such. Nice new location with plenty of room inside. All the food is priced very reasonably. Fast service. Really. 2 coworkers and myself had a hurried business lunch here and when I walked in I told the server we were going to be rushed. We ordered right away, the food was served quickly and correctly (so often places rush an order and screw it up) and as requested, the check was brought early so we were in and out of there in basically the time it took to eat our food. All at the lunch rush hour. Good job. Only complaint I have is their really bad parking lot. Poorly laid out, way too small for their business volume (and the comparable seating inside) and people end up parking on the grass and drive lanes. read more

Bar tender social with her people not random people, I guess I couldn't expect much more even this all over Kentucky. Bad for business for at least me returning. Food was ok, nothing to write home to mom about. Looked like kid at bar of the Mexican sitting there? Kinda odd again maybe a Kentucky thing. It was a gorgeous day today so we decided to take a ride out to New Haven and on the way back to Louisville we stopped in Bardstown for dinner at BJ's. There were 13 of us and I have to say that service was prompt and efficient. Our waiter got everything correct as well. Pretty impressive. The four of us on our ticket all got ribeye steaks. All were good but not spectacular. I had broccoli and a salad as my sides. Both were fairly typical. My daughter had the stuffed potato. It was very garlicky. That's says a lot coming from me. She also had Mac and cheese. It was decent as well. The guys in the group who got porterhouses seemed much happier with their selection. Like I said, ours was good but unimpressive. It wasn't of a caliber that would make me need to go back for more but if we were in the area and hungry, I'd be willing to drop back by. read more

Very very disappointed and disgusted. My father ordered a burger medium and after biting into it, he saw it had came out raw. No problem he sent it back and didn't complain or ask for a refund. When his food came back, it was the same burger with the bites missing. When he asked our server she and the manager confirmed, this is standard practice. Why on earth would you put something someone bite into back on your grill? There are so many sanitary issues and health code violations here. How many burgers, steaks, or chicken breasts were recooked on that grill? This has disgusted me!!! I will not be back and this was a favorite place for us. read more

So I made it to BJs, and I have mixed feelings. What they do good is pretty darn excellent. What they do bad is really has nothing going for it at all. I ordered a steak to share with my wife, and I got a burger for my boys to share. The steak was excellent. Really tasty. Not much in the way of marinating, but it was grilled well, tender, and juicy. My kids' burger looked pretty crusty, though. And the salad I got with my steak was positively nasty looking to me. My wife gladly ate it, but I couldn't believe they thought it was worth serving. On top of that, the place is pretty much a bar with some tables pushed off to the side and blocked off by the walls of the booths. On top of that, the booths display bottle after bottle of whiskey and bourbon. So even in the non-bar area of the restaurant, we're still assaulted with lots of booze. Whenever we come to Bardstown we make sure to stop for at least one steak dinner at BJ's. The food and service have consistently been top-notch for the last ten years. I recommend the steak salad and my husband loves the strip steak. Excellent homemade salad dressing! read more

After working 12 hours. Driving 1 hour home. We decided to try BJ again after 2 months. NOT A GOOD CHOICE. My Fish was ok. My wifes Salad was horrible. The lettuce was slightly brown, the cheese, American singles?? Were clumped together, the Meat??? was wall mart sandwich thin slices. And the eggs were like rubber. I said we did not want to pay for the salad. (Only 1/4 eating) $10.00 The Mgr took off $3.99. When I asked to speak with the Mgr. ( Craig Watson ). He approached me with a smug look. He told the waitress my wife ate the meat????????? Are you kidding me!!!!!!! I asked craig if he even looked at the salad. He said No. Then BLAMED THE WAITRESS. What a cop out!!. At this point I was done. I then said I would pay full price on the meal. He offered to pay. I said NO. I paid in full. Gave the waitress a $10 tip. Not her fault. We are 22 yr residence of Bardstown. This place has went to CRAP since the move to the new location. BAD CHOICE OF A MGR. We will not return, tired of sub par over priced food. Not worth it. Went to bj's because it has been one of our go to spots for years but they have really changed!! Food was okay, servings were much smaller and things like the salad has been reduced to just iceberg lettuce and a couple croutons. No breads anymore. Just very plain and boring for the price which has gone up. Overall I don't think we will be going back. That is unfortunate because we used to really like it but Bardstown has grown and the restaurant game has changed. BJ's has to step up their game to be able to compete! read more

We decided to make the trip from Louisville to Bardstown and have dinner here, we took our neighbors with us, as we were wanting a non-cookie cutter steak. WELL I was pleasantly surprised I got the prime rib, cooked to perfection, the homemade ranch dressing, with a green tint, twice baked potato and roll. I have to say a double thumbs up from us and we will be back. Moderately priced as well. Only complaint I have and it was because they were busy, was the drink service was a bit slow! read more

As always the meal, service, and surroundings were great. Today I ate in the dining area with my family and friends and we had a wonderful time. It is a rare event when my children eat their whole meal but they ate every morsel of their meals. I had the top sirloin with green beans and broccoli an cheese. I'm always excitedly surprised to see the steak they bring me at BJ's and I'm appreciative that a medium steak is cooked medium. Although my kids claim to only eat a steak well done they beg for pieces of my steak. The beans were good and the broccoli was ok. This is one of my more favorite places to go out to eat in Bardstown. read more

Tried BJ's based on the recommendation of a local person. Ordered strip steaks with baked potatoes and salad. Steaks were excellent and prepared as requested. Potatoes were served with a side of "spread cup" or something to that effect. Everyone at the table had the same reaction to this mystery spread: to go out and spend a good bit of money for a steak and potato dinner, can't you expect butter or margarine for the baked potato? The mysterious butter substitute seemed to cheapen the whole experience. Our server was a bit aloof. Didn't seem like she really wanted to be there. The beer I ordered wasn't delivered with my food...I had to remind her that I ordered it. All in all, it was a great place for a steak, but marred by cheap condiments and a so so server. read more

Was very busy. Made a reservation so that was awesome. Service was not the greatest. Our waitress was zoomy. She would come ask if everything was okay and before you could finish answering she was already gone. Serice was a 2 out of /5 I got the supreme small salad with ranch and it was delicious 5/5. The cheese fries were great with the amazing green ranch 4/5. And the club sandwich with no lettuce was good 4/5. And the sweet tea was amazing too 4 and a half /5. The entrees are pretty good, but the sides are far from anything special. In fact the entrees aren't really all that special either, but the ranch dressing is amazing. You could dunk a bar of soap into the ranch dressing and it would be worth eating. I've eaten there several times over the years and I can say the food is pretty consistent...consistently ok-ish. We waited 20 minutes for 3 beers. Then another 45 for our appetizers and a salad, which was all we got to eat. I have always been a big fan of this place, best value for a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel ale in all of Bardstown on draft. However tonight for dinner, a burger was really under cooked, there were even took two bites out of the burger and with the second bite, the burger wiggled. So this burger was sent back. We got the exact burger back with the same bite marks taken out of the burger. I asked if they put this burger back on their grill to cook more and BJs Steakhouse server and manager both CONFIRMED that this was normal practices with steaks and burgers. How many burgers/steaks that had bites taken out were already re-cooked before mine? This is a horrible practice that is against all health codes. Be careful when eating here. Any food that hits a table should always be thrown away AND NEVER PLACED BACK ON THE GRILL. Be careful when eating here, you might not know who you're eating after when eating anything from their grill. This will be my last visit here. read more

I don't care what anyone says about this place negatively because I had nothing but the most positive experience there. I had a 14 ounce sirloin with very little fat, corn on the cob, a baked potato, and roll all for $19.99. Unheard of. And it was delicious. I've been to BJs many times over the yrs at their old location and new. In fact had my first date with my husband at the former location! If you're craving a good ole meat and potatoes kind of meal it will hit the spot! Never rly tried many other dishes away from steaks and burgers but have heard great things about their chicken Alfredo! Will say I hope they expand their parking cuz that's always a hit or miss and the service is usually great! Don't expect gourmet-you're in Bardstown were a blue collar town with simple palettes. Visited on 10/2 and was impressed with the hostess who was courteous and seated me promptly. Shortly thereafter my waitress Michelle introduced herself and all seemed to be going well. I ordered a prime rib cooked medium and when it arrived Michelle asked me to check it. Upon cutting into the steak it was apparent the steak wasn't even cooked to rare so I sent it back to be cooked more. Michelle showed up several minutes later and the steak was over cooked, She went back to the kitchen and another steak was prepared. After about 20 minutes the second steak arrived and I cut into it and same thing again - the steak was again "rare". Michelle took it back and after some time I received a steak that was close to medium so I accepted it. After all it had taken approx. 60 minutes to get to this point. The part that was most surprising is that not once did Daniel (the Owner) come over to acknowledge the mistake, apologize, nothing even though he was right there behind the bar. He did not offer any discount or freebie (not that I was looking for one) even though my meal took over an hour to get completed at a time when the restaurant was not busy. I asked the waitress to have Daniel come by the table as I wanted to discuss what had taken place, however, he chose not to. Very unimpressed with the Owner, Daniel and his lack of concern for customer satisfaction. I WILL NOT be dining at his establishment again due to his lack of professionalism. read more

I ordered the 8oz ribeye, sauteed mushrooms and a side salad with ranch. The steak was good...a little peppery for me but I don't like black pepper. Took my family to BJ's Steakhouse in Bardstown last night for my father's birthday. Arrived at 530 and was told there would be a 5-10 minute wait for our party of 5. After 30 minutes we asked them what the deal was and were told that we would be the next table seated. Then we saw a table open big enough to accommodate our group and they skipped over us and seated a group that came in after us. I spoke to one of the managers on duty about the situation and he was very rude and said we'd be lucky if he even seated us after complaining and that he had too many other things on his plate than to worry about us. So finally an hour and 5 minutes after arriving we were seated. We placed our order and the wait began an hour and a half passed and we asked our server where our food was she said it would be up in the next two minutes 20 minutes later our food still hadn't arrived so we told our waitress to cancel our order. She told us that would not be a problem as our food still hadn't been placed on the grill. We paid for our drinks and salads and left 2 hours and fifty minutes after arriving. I went home and ate leftovers from the night before. Needless to say that will be the last time I patronize BJ's Steakhouse in Bardstown Ky. read more
