Small cozy restaurant with amazing service and better food. You rarely see Cornish hen on a restaurant menu so you know if there is one featured, it has to be good! Their Cornish hen is absolutely incredible! This has to be the best restaurant in Bardstown!

We had reservations over the holiday. The challenge was that we had one of the last reservations of the day so our dining options became limited. Drinks were excellent. I'd go back again for just drinks and appetizer. With it being right across from the Stephen Foster Story, I hope to plan another visit when their season opens up in the late spring/early summer. The food portions are good and a great value. The intimate setting is nice. The bummer is a couple of the tables near the window would be better is slightly turned. The space is small that the line up is designed to maximize the space while still providing a good distance between others. They do honor a military discount. Pleasant and welcoming staff. It was greatly appreciated that they worked the holiday for us to enjoy our time there.

Upscale lovely restaurant in Bardstown. We went here for brunch right before the Christmas week and enjoyed the brisket hash. The portion was very large, with plenty of brisket and potatoes. Meat could have been a little warmer but it had good flavor. The star was the two poached eggs on top- perfectly runny and soft whites. Friendly service with warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Alderwood Smoked Salmon Dip

Had a very nice dinner here, our appetizer was the Alderwood Smoked Salmon Dip which was great to start with. Maybe could've used some more stuff to dip in it but still good. I had the Bison Meatloaf which came with some delicious mashed potatoes and some veggies. The veggies definitely should've been sautéed or something but overall it was yummy. Service and atmosphere was fine, they recently renovated I believe so it was nice. We both had a pretty good time at Toogie's.

Great joint ... soft-reopwn after a remodel. Clean and bright room. Comfortable seating. Aimee & Connor were on my table faster than a duck on a june bug. Started with the fritters & fried green maters .... oh yeah! I enjoyed them & only wished there was more heat in both. But the two nicely set the stage for the main course: gnocchi ragu! I'm VERY particular about Italian food, being a glutton... so when I took my first fork-full of this Etruscan potato dumpling, I was pleased. They nailed the savory red sauce. I find that most ragus are just jars of marinara dumped into a skillet. This had zest and the fresh zucchini & carrots together with the tomato sauce hit the mark. Too full for dessert. Write down the date. When a fat dude like me says no to dessert, it's a big deal. I'll be back to Toog's. SOLID SERVICE & GREAT GRUB!

Smoked Gouda Mac & cheese

The peach bourbon butter was amazing. Cod was perfect, vegetables prepared very well. Mashed potatoes were okay, the taste was good, but there was a huge chunk of potato. The Mac & cheese was incredible. My husband had the pork chop, and said it was good. But he's had better. He raved about the gravy on the mashed potatoes. Overall a great experience. We did an early dinner meeting with a friend at 5:00 pm. The room we were seated in was very dark, we could have used a little more light. The server was attentive and answered all questions.

Came into Toogie's Table after hearing good thing about them on Youtube and we are so glad we did. We had made a reservation and good thing we did because it was packed. We were quickly seated. We started talking to who had seated us (I believe manager if not someone higher up) and had a really good conversation. We ordered drinks and they even brought out out some complementary olives. They also brought out a Lamb Fat Candle and Toasted Sourdough Bread. As the Lamb Fat Candle melts you can dip the bread in it. Very cool. My Old Fashioned came out and it was very good. We had also ordered some appetizers. We went with the Spiced Meatballs and the Burrata & Broad Bean Panzanella both of which we very good. You can't go wrong with either. For my Entrée I ordered the Sunday Gravy. I'm a sucker for House made pasta. Within a few minute though I got some back news that they had run out of the Sunday Gravy. He's a tip for you come early so that doesn't happen but it's also a good thing to show they are making everything fresh. I ended up going with the Fried Chicken since I had heard good things about that too and come on who don't love fried chicken. Plus we are in Kentucky... The home of Fried Chicken! Our food came out within 15 minute and everything looked great. My Fried Chicken was amazing. Well seasoned batter and tender juicy chicken. Not over cooked at all. Would get this again for sure. Maybe it was a good thing they were out of the Sunday Gravy. Everyone else at our table really enjoyed their food too. I thank the amazing staff for having us, providing an amazing meal and treating us so kindly. Would for sure come back.

Had a great time at Toogie's Pool Bar! Josh is an excellent bartender--super knowledgeable about the drinks and made some amazing recommendations. I really enjoyed a few refreshing cocktails. Great vibe, great service--I'll definitely be back!

This is probably one of the nicer restaurants in the area plus their bar menu is available 7 days a week. The dinner menu is available Wednesday through Saturday. Reservations can be made from their website which directs you to OpenTable. There's an upstairs and downstairs dining area which I don't see a benefit to sitting in either area except that the bar is upstairs. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by the friendly hostess who showed us to our table with the cocktail/wine menus. There's a nice variety of foods choice's available which are mostly uniquely spiced and flavored. We started with the zhug meatballs and also had the chicken & spaetzle along with the Turkey and Swiss sandwich. All the food ordered was flavorful and tasty. The portions varied as the meatball dish could have added an additional meatball or served in a smaller plate. Using a large plate with a small portion looked a little odd. The spaetzle entree was huge and way too much food for one person which could be a problem if you're staying in a hotel or inn without a refrigerator. Also I would have preferred the chicken and spaetzle to be separated as it was a large portion of all ingredients with the same flavor and taste with every forkful. The restaurant was comfortable, well lit and the tables were situated appropriately to provide enough privacy for conversations. The restaurant is attached to a motor lodge which would be very convenient if staying the night. There's plenty of parking in the outside lot although some spots are on a hill. The prices seemed to be in the high side but the food is prepared and flavorful. There's a nice list of wines, cocktails and bourbons available and Monday is half price wine bottles.

Waitress was nice but didn't know a lot of the answers to the questions we had on certain bourbons that they had at Bardstown, which I thought was strange since she did work there. Foodwise, the menu changes and is not huge - I was trying to avoid spicy or fried and there weren't many options for me. The side caesar was cute but I prefer it more chopped, and the chili was just ok. The best thing was the cheesecake at the end for sure, do not pass on that. The espresso martini was good but on the lighter side, definitely more a iced coffee martini. Chicken sandwich was good and they did substitute if you don't like pimento.

The burger was good size. The Brussels sprouts were pretty good but a little too much balsamic glaze for us. The old fashion whisky was from the barrel and it was excellent. Very smooth and consistent with each sip and glass ordered. The service was friendly. Large dining area with a nice background for photo ops. Great place to stop by on the way to Nashville for lunch. They also have some limited edition bottles there.they have lots of their bourbon to try at the bar and also other local bourbon distillery to drink if you prefer. You really can't find a drink your looking for here as they have so many choices to choose from

We loved having a pre-Derby lunch here! Visiting a friend who lives nearby, she plans to come back!…read more We shared the Duck Poppers which were small but yummy. A nice little treat. Then I ordered the soup and a side of grits, which were both delicious. My husband order the Beef cheek Po Boy - yummy! And my friend ordered the Cuban. The fries are tasty and everything tasted incredibly fresh and well prepared. Of course we saved room for dessert and shared the Banana Cream Pudding. It had a roasted marshmallow top and probably the beat Banana pudding I've had! For drinks, we got the Filly Lilly, A specialty Mint Julio with Thyme in it, and the winner was the Strawberry Rhubarb Buck. Wow! Not only was the food delicious, but the service was great and everyone was very friendly and helpful. We sat inside because it was a dreary first half of the day before the sun came out for the Derby! But, there were a lot of nice outdoor areas to sit and enjoy your food or beverages. You will find something you love at the Kitchen Table. I highly recommend!

Order: deviled egg with country ham marmalade with redeye aioli. The perfect bite. Just order it and you will be so happy. Creamy egg with the crunchy texture of the ham. Yum! Duck bomb with cane sugar gastrique. Great combo of sweet and salty. The sauce just brightens the entire dish. Cheese sampler was ok flavor. Toast points were deep fried and seasoned well. Brisket dinner. Just ok. Slightly dry, definitely needed a sauce on the side. The bean medley on the bottom was ok. I don't think i would order again. Honey glazed fried chicken was the star of the show. Perfectly crispy exterior with juicy meat on the inside. The best bite of the day for sure. The surprise of the day was the "french onion soup" inspired mac and cheese. Just a delicious play on a traditional mac and cheese.

This year we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary with lunch on My Old Kentucky Dinner…read moreTrain and we had a wonderful time! The decor of the train and the table settings are beautiful. When buying the tickets, one question asks if you are celebrating a special occasion and there was a nice Happy Anniversary card on the table when we arrived! There were 10 tables for 4 in the car where we were seated, but the couple who was to share our table were unable to come so we had the table to ourselves. Our server Haley was efficient and friendly and provided good service for us and the people around us. It's impressive how all of the servers can carry the big trays with four servings of food on the moving train and not spill or drop anything! The meals start with the Golden Spike salad, and one chooses the entree and dessert when buying the tickets. We both chose the pan seared halibut over risotto, with roasted fall vegetables (sweet potatoes, cauliflower, and carrots) and the meal was delicious. Hot dinner rolls with whipped butter are also served. Beverages included with the meal are water, sweet tea, unsweet tea, and coffee brewed with beans roasted especially for the dinner train. Drinks from a full bar are available for an extra cost, along with several appetizers. However, we found the food from the menu to be filling and did not desire any extras. As the train rolls down the track several attractions are pointed out along the way, including a safe house used by Jesse James, and a trestle that survived the Civil War because it carried bourbon for both the Union and Confederate soldiers! All in all, we enjoyed our trip and the food, and would consider returning for the experience.
