My mom loves their burgers, white cheddar mashed potatoes, and pizookies so I sometimes end up here. I know this isn't a vegan restaurant, but I always review from a vegan point of view. That being said, the vegan options here are slim. The only things you don't need to heavily modify are the chips and guacamole, some of the veggie sides, and the pasta with marinara sauce on the kids' menu. If you're ok with shared fryers, their fries are technically vegan too. Since they don't have a pasta option on the regular menu that doesn't include meat and cheese, I usually order a create-your-own pasta off the kids' menu and choose a side of steamed broccoli. I like their marinara sauce and the portion is just right, so I'm fine with it. I also really love their strawberry lemonade. It would be great if they had at least one dedicated vegan dish on the adult menu, but I don't expect a chain restaurant to go out of their way to accommodate vegans. read more

Quite a disappointing experience. My husband and I came here to get a simple pizookie on a Friday night. We were seated in the open seating area and had to wait 15 minutes before a server came to us. Meanwhile, we had multiple servers walk by or look at us without any acknowledgement. We finally got to order our pizookie, when the server kept trying to get us to upgrade to the larger size. While waiting, we saw a bunch of tables get their pizookie orders before us even though they had sat down after. We finally got our finally 45 minutes later, to see that they had upgraded us to the larger size. We thought it was a complimentary upgrade for the poor service. Our server handed us plastic spoons, while tables around us were eating their pizookie with silverware - you can imagine the difficulty of trying to take a bite of the cookie with a plastic spoon. When we asked for the check, we saw that they had charged us for the larger size pizookie and not the mini we had ordered. After waiting 45 minutes just to get our food, we were not interested in waiting 15 minutes more to clarify the check. BJs ruined what was supposed to be a fun date night to get a sweet treat with their poor service. We will not be coming back. read more

My family and I visited BJ's Saturday evening around 6:30 to celebrate both my brother's and my birthdays. I've always had pretty good experiences at this location, so I was especially disappointed with how the evening unfolded. There were six of us, and while the restaurant was busy, that's no excuse for the number of mistakes we experienced. Our server, Muhammad, took our order, and unfortunately, that's where things started going downhill. My nephew's half rack of ribs arrived without his fries, and his BBQ sauce was ice cold. When we mentioned the missing fries, Muhammad blamed the kitchen, saying, "There's a lot going on back there." The fries eventually arrived and were actually quite good. My dad and I ordered the Santa Fe Salad, one with chicken and one with shrimp. Both were just okay, definitely not as good as I remember, and the portions seemed smaller. My brothers shared a Strawberry Fields Salad and a pizza. The salad arrived quickly, although very few strawberries were in the salad which was disappointing, especially since "strawberries" were literally in the title of the salad. The pizza took longer and was completely wrong. No meat and a thin crust instead of deep dish. Interestingly, another employee immediately acknowledged the mistake and said the correct pizza had already been remade. Within minutes, Muhammad returned with it. So was this a kitchen mistake or a serving mix-up? Who knows. What upset me most was my Mom's meal. She ordered the lemon chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli, but her food never arrived with ours. When I brought it to Muhammad's attention, he seemed confused and once again blamed the kitchen and miscommunication. By the time her dinner finally arrived, the rest of us were nearly finished. Completely unacceptable. To make up for the mistakes, Muhammad brought us an extra plate of fries and offered a complimentary Pizookie. While I appreciate the gesture, a free dessert doesn't make up for my Mom sitting there without dinner. Comping her meal would have been a much more appropriate response. What bothered me most was the constant finger-pointing at the kitchen rather than taking any accountability or making a genuine effort to fix things. Mistakes happen, especially on busy nights, but how they're handled makes all the difference. We also noticed Muhammad seemed to take several cigarette breaks during our visit and returned to our table smelling strongly of fresh cigarette smoke. Not exactly pleasant when you're trying to enjoy dinner. I've enjoyed BJ's over the years, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. I come here once a month. Service is always slow. But today was a total disaster. It took them 33 min to get water. 32 min for the food. I am still waiting for my porter beer. Never got it. Waitress was super lost and offered my food to 4 other tables. I finally get my steak. Steak was like rubber band. Hard to chew. I walked out. I ask for the manager waited like 3 mins. All the waiters seemed stressed out. I believe the problem is the management. And coordination. I am sure some of the staff is working really hard. Big fan of their Tuesday $5 pizookie deal! There's a whole range of pizookies to choose from, including cookies and cream, Dubai chocolate, and strawberry shortcake. Clearly the pizookie deal is a hit amongst the South Bay Area because it's always absolutely packed at 10pm. Be prepared for a bit of a wait. They were extremely understaffed on a Tuesday night, and the poor waiters were running around and scrambling. The ambiance is casual and lively. The pizookie is absolutely worth the wait: the ice cream is a great contrast to the warm cookie. It's a huge portion, so one pizookie is the perfect size for two people. BJ's is a decent place to grab food with a bunch of friends, but it has mediocre food and service. My friends and I come here occasionally to celebrate birthdays as they have a lot of room. We made our reservations online and had no hassle with it. Parking can get very full at peak hours, but they also have valet parking. The interior has a dim sports bar vibe, and there were a couple of TVs playing sport games. I usually get the weekend prime rib special, which is a salad/soup, two sides, prime rib and a pizzokie. It is honestly a lot of food for a fair price. Unfortunately, the food always takes a while to arrive, as service is slow. The waiters also don't come by very often, which makes it hard to get water refills or utensils. The prime rib itself is okay at best. It is definitely not bad by any means but it's also doesn't have that "wow" factor. The asparagus and grilled veggies appetizers weren't that bad, but I felt like the grilled cauliflower was undercooked. I recommend getting the pastas instead. One time I got the Chicken Alfredo, and I was pleasantly surprised by it. One of the trademarks of BJs is their "pizzokie", which is a giant cookie with ice cream on top. It is honestly quite good, as the cookies are baked perfectly and they give a lot of ice cream. It is a heavy dessert though, and I recommend having two people to finish it. Overall, BJs is an allright place if you want to get dinner with a bunch of friends without the hassle of waiting or lack of space. If you're looking for somewhere to eat for a smaller group though, I think there could be better options in the area. read more

** PIZOOKIE TUESDAY REVIEW ** Pizookies are $5 on tuesdays and that's a deal I can't miss out on! We went at ~7:30pm on a tuesday evening and the place was surprisingly pretty crowded. But I told the hostess that we were here for the pizookie deal and she told us that there was a "self seated" area at that time. I am assuming it might just be tuesdays since they know so many people come just for the deal. We sat ourselves down and ordered the following pizookies: cookies n cream, and chocolate chip. Unfortunately they were out of the dubai chocolate one (but maybe next time). I think our favorite of the two was the cookies n cream. That one is superior out of all of them in my opinion (just SUPER sweet). We had a slight mishap with the check. They accidentally charged us the regular price instead of the discounted deal price and it wasn't a big deal, but the staff who were handling it seemed a little disgruntled over it. It was to the point where I felt uncomfortable and would rather just leave it. But, eventually a manager came (without us asking for one) and helped us change the price to the correct one. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The restaurant itself was clean and our service was great, so I really wanted to enjoy our experience. But everyone in our party was unhappy with their meal. I ordered the protein bowl with tri-tip and only managed about three bites. The meat was so tough I literally couldn't chew through it, and the seasoning and overall flavor were just off. The rest of my party had similar complaints about their food. To the manager's credit, they were very kind and removed my meal from the bill, which I appreciated. However, even with my meal taken off, the bill was still quite high for food that none of us particularly enjoyed. We live in Marin, so we're certainly accustomed to paying higher prices when dining out, but the quality simply didn't justify the price here. I feel like the BJ's chain has just been going down hill. Or are there just better restaurants and food scenes now in the Bay? Came her three times. Once for bar food and drinks in the open seating area, totally fine as we came in super low maintenance. 2nd time for sit down, which we got a burger with onion rings and pizza. Pizza was great - greasy and delicious as it should be. The burger, however, was very dry. Patty was pretty much overcooked and our onion rings were over fried with the taste of old oil. Service was slow too on a non-busy evening. Third time was today for lunch. We put ourselves on the online waiting list, but it looked slow so we just said table for 5. We waited about ten minutes for the hostess to tell us we can do the open seating area. We didn't want that so we said we were on the waiting list. She then asked again why we didn't want the open seating area, and then we finally got our table. We didn't want the high chairs and wanted dedicated service. I got the fish and chips, again the fish was over fried and the color was dark. It had leftover oil taste. The wings were good tho and the Brussels sprouts. It wasn't busy on a Sunday lunch day and our server was no where to be found when we needed things. We were pretty low maintenance but for my water refill & extra small plates for our pizookies the service was too slow. We ended up just eating cause the ice cream was melting. Chairs also had water stains and didn't look nice, table felt stick, & the restrooms weren't kept up on. Usually love going to BJ's but the service at my most recent visit to the Cupertino location wasn't great. We went on a Friday around 7pm and it was packed! The parking lot is small so we struggled to find a spot and luckily got one after some time. We had called ahead to put ourselves on the waitlist and we were seated immediately. But then, we waited 35 minutes just to get water and another 25 minutes to order our food! There was a whole lot of confusion because there were tables that were seated after us that were helped before us. About an hour later, we eventually ordered the Dubai Chocolate Pizookie and the $13 meal deal with a salad, deep dish pizza, and then the mini pizookie to go. The food came relatively quick afterwards. $13 meal deal is great value - I would definitely order this again. Salad was a nice starter and the pizza was tasty. I appreciated how we were able to get a side of ranch with the pizza. Can comfortably split this between two people. The Dubai Chocolate Pizookie was pretty good and I'm glad I got to try it but not sure if I would order again. I felt like there could have been more pistachio cream and kataifi. I prefer some of their other pizookies We ordered the mini Pizookie to go and it took another 40 minutes after we finished eating to receive this. Overall, the food was good, especially the $13 meal deal, and it was the redeeming part of an otherwise frustrating experience. The service was very disappointing - of the two hours we spent at BJ's, only about 20 minutes of that was for eating, and the rest of the time was idle waiting. This place has been going downhill for years. I decided to give it one more chance and sadly I don't think I'll be returning. Came in on a Tuesday night and was initially quoted a 30 minute wait for our group, which turned into around 45 minutes because they apparently ran out of silverware and had to wash and fold new ones. Once we were seated, our server, Amelia was actually very nice and personable, so I will give them credit for that. Unfortunately, everything after that was pretty disappointing. We ordered a BJ's classic ribeye medium rare and when it came out, it was probably the rarest steak I've ever been served. We sent it back and asked for it to just be cooked a little more to actually get it to medium rare. Somehow, it came back about 2 minutes later looking EVEN RARER than it was before. I genuinely don't know how that's possible. We also ordered a michelada, but instead of just telling us they didn't have all the ingredients to make one, the bartenders served us this flat beer that tasted horrible. I would've much rather they just been upfront and said they couldn't make micheladas that night so we could order a different beer or something else. At the end of the day, mistakes happen, but the culmination of the long wait, running out of basic silverware, a steak that couldn't be cooked to the temperature we ordered, and being given a drink we didn't actually ask for it's just not worth coming back. Really disappointing, especially considering I was already giving this place another chance. Amelia was very apologetic about the multiple mishaps and still cracking jokes to keep our spirits up. However, it seems like management needs to seriously get a handle on the departments that are clearly failing, especially the bar and kitchen, because at this point the level of incompetence is honestly hard to overlook. A shame that this place used to be a fun place to get together for a casual but quality experience, but as of late has become disappointing and poorly executed. Our party of 8 was seated after almost 50 minutes despite being told it was a 30 minute wait. Two people ordered alcoholic drinks, but apparently that drink was not available and they were instead given an alternate drink. This is without being informed or given that option to accept a different drink, which is extremely odd and off putting, and on top of that the beer was completely flat. Our food arrived some time later, and everyone's steaks, burgers, and pizza came out at the same time, but not my soup which took about an extra 10 minutes longer than everything else to come out. For one person, their burger was wrong, they had asked for it to be plain but it had extra items added to it. But the biggest issue was someone that ordered the ribeye steak medium rare, and it was completely rare. Upon being informed of this it was taken back into the kitchen, only to be brought back out in 3 minutes just as raw as before. Thankfully the server was full of energy and very friendly, as well as very understanding of the let down the experience was. But everything else was so low quality that the great service doesn't make up for the mistakes from the kitchen and the bar. This is not the first time this restaurant has let us down, but fortunately it is the last, as it will be given no more chances. 3 strikes and you're out. read more

OK I really like this place but the World Series is on, and myself and a few friends come in here and we're watching the World Series and all of a sudden they change the screen to Monday Night Football. That's fine but the second largest screens are women's basketball. So now we have to beg them to put the World Series on the 36 inch screens on the side walls. Really? Girls basketball over the World Series? Sorry but they just lost $3000 a year worth of my business. Oh and by the way, several orher people at the bar also closed their tabs to go elsewhere when they blew off the World Series. Not smart business. read more

I simply want to start out with complimenting the service. The service was top tier- our waitress was Dawn. She was fantastic. One of the best servers I've ever had. She was very kind & attentive. The sweetest waitress ever. Secondly, the FOOD. In my honest opinion, the steak itself wasn't the best BUT José, who was in charge of the kitchen at the time, was extremely kind enough to work with how we wanted our steak cooked. The shrimp, potatoes and asparagus were pretty tasty. The drinks were probably the best thing we had. In my experience, I'll definitely come back for drinks and appetizers & the service itself. I do recommend coming here if you want a few good drinks. The steak, I personally wouldn't recommend.
