I called right away and they said "well, we can't do anything about it today". My subcontractor sent me a $800 delay bill for the forklift being a piece of shit. Worthless and old. I will never rent there again. I don't recommend the services and the workers there are disrespectful. They promised my company a 20% discount and they failed to do that too. Called the morning of January 12, 2019 to inquire about prices of concrete saws and their blades. I asked three different ways about the cost of the blade. I asked if it was an extra charge, I asked if it came with the saw rental or was separate, and I asked if you charged by the 1/1000th of usage. On all three questions the associate on the phone had to ask another associate for the answer. When I arrived to pick the rental up I was pissed to find out you do charge extra for the blade! These inconsistencies are reasons why larger operations will not use small services like yours, it makes lining out a job damn near impossible. Your staff needs formal training, not just crappy on the job training from whomever is working that day. And it was not as if a single employee did not have the correct information, like I said, he had to ask somebody off the phone for every single answer to every question I asked. As for the equipment, it was fine. A few loose screws in the saw body that popped out (something larger companies would have maintained). I would like a response back from management as I tried emailing your company and it automatically seems every email spam! I tried to write four different emails and it would not deliver a single one saying, "your email comes up as spam." What a joke read more

Rented some equipment from these guys on a Sat. There closed on Sun so technically that day shouldn't count although the manager told me they look at Sun as a free day. But realize that they do count it as part of the 24 hr rental period which doesn't seem right to me. I assumed the 24 hr period started on Sat and finish on the next business day, Mon. That wasn't the case the equip was do back 8:30 Mon morning which was in fine print on the contract I signed. So they charged me for 2 days. Its a good thing I didn't rent a larger more expensive piece of equipment. Finally after much negotiation and teeth pulling the manager did give me a 1 day refund. So in the end I did appreciate the fact that the customer was more important then a buck. Make sure know when your equip rental is due back. read more

But this was the first time using the poway location to rent a 1 1/2"portable muncher I called and took it off rent then when I tried to return it that day they had closed and locked gate before 5 pm when I arrived they where loading a excavator but wouldn't open gate so I could return the muncher So they charged me for a second day. I've rented some tools and one tiller from BJs. The prices were the best in town but most of the equipment is old and/or heavily used. The tiller wasn't 100% when I picked it up and the workers just said to keep it at a lower power so it doesn't cut off. Also, they didnt have some tools requested so I was forced to buy what I needed or drive many miles to get what I needed. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Stay away. I rented a pressure washer for the weekend on a Saturday, and the muffler fell off after a few hours of using it, just after they closed for the day. I lost a whole day of using it, and when I returned it on Monday, they wouldn't make any reasonable accommodations for my not actually being able to use the equipment I paid for. I rented a 60' cherry picker (boom) machine from these guys to trim Californian palm trees on my property for a very reasonable price per day. On day 2 it got stuck in mud on my property. Not an easy problem to solve since the machine weighs 24,000 lbs. BJ's were very reasonable and understanding and eventually charged me exactly as per contract even though I'd had the machine for 5 days longer than planned. Customer service is horrible. When you have to pry information out of the staff, the staff should be replaced. My inquiry was a simple one regarding pricing, time frames for rental and equipment weight but they came across like they were being bothered. I travel from the mountains in East county for equipment rentals and do not have the time or patience for attitude. Alpine Equipment is by far superior in customer service and information. I had over grown trees on my property and these guys dropped off this cool looking 30' spider man-basket that I was able to tow back with my Chevy 2500. This saved me a pickup fee of $25! My following comments are full transparency and not fake news. I recently rented a masonary saw from these guys. I came in with one idea of what I wanted after watching a few YouTube video's. Fortunately I had Jimmy waiting on me. He asked a few questions and did a great job recommending an alternate table saw. Being that this was the first time that I have ever attempted this type of project needless to saw I was very open to expert recommendations. Patrick helped demo and offered some super recommendations on how to help this novice attempt to properly accomplish use of this equipment. I rented a 14' step ladder from BJ's today. I originally thought I needed a 16' and then had to swap it out for the 14'. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They weren't annoyed when I needed to make the change, or at least they didn't show it. The price seemed very reasonable.
