ALERT!! Worse place to rent. Don't use this location. They deliver faulty equipment and disregard the safety of others to make a buck. ALERT!! Bj rentals delayed my job by sending inoperable forklift that was sent to a senior citizen mobilehome park with no brakes and no lights. I called right away and they said "well, we can't do anything about it today". My subcontractor sent me a $800 delay bill for the forklift being a piece of shit. Worthless and old. I will never rent there again. I don't recommend the services and the workers there are disrespectful. They promised my company a 20% discount and they failed to do that too. I spoke with them this morning and "Jimmy" isn't answering my calls and has other employees answer. DONT RENT THERE, EQUIPMENT IS OLD!! CALL UNITED RENTALS, and if you need a discount talk to them about BJ'S and they offer a generous discount. Or call me (619) 980-7481 I'll get you what you need cheap!! read more

BJ's Rentals - Machine & Tool Rental Near Me - Poway, California

Called the morning of January 12, 2019 to inquire about prices of concrete saws and their blades. I asked three different ways about the cost of the blade. I asked if it was an extra charge, I asked if it came with the saw rental or was separate, and I asked if you charged by the 1/1000th of usage. On all three questions the associate on the phone had to ask another associate for the answer. When I arrived to pick the rental up I was pissed to find out you do charge extra for the blade! These inconsistencies are reasons why larger operations will not use small services like yours, it makes lining out a job damn near impossible. Your staff needs formal training, not just crappy on the job training from whomever is working that day. And it was not as if a single employee did not have the correct information, like I said, he had to ask somebody off the phone for every single answer to every question I asked. As for the equipment, it was fine. A few loose screws in the saw body that popped out (something larger companies would have maintained). I would like a response back from management as I tried emailing your company and it automatically seems every email spam! I tried to write four different emails and it would not deliver a single one saying, "your email comes up as spam." What a joke read more

Rented some equipment from these guys on a Sat. There closed on Sun so technically that day shouldn't count although the manager told me they look at Sun as a free day. But realize that they do count it as part of the 24 hr rental period which doesn't seem right to me. I assumed the 24 hr period started on Sat and finish on the next business day, Mon. That wasn't the case the equip was do back 8:30 Mon morning which was in fine print on the contract I signed. So they charged me for 2 days. Its a good thing I didn't rent a larger more expensive piece of equipment. Finally after much negotiation and teeth pulling the manager did give me a 1 day refund. So in the end I did appreciate the fact that the customer was more important then a buck. Make sure know when your equip rental is due back. read more

I've rented some tools and one tiller from BJs. The prices were the best in town but most of the equipment is old and/or heavily used. The tiller wasn't 100% when I picked it up and the workers just said to keep it at a lower power so it doesn't cut off. Also, they didnt have some tools requested so I was forced to buy what I needed or drive many miles to get what I needed. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Stay away. I rented a pressure washer for the weekend on a Saturday, and the muffler fell off after a few hours of using it, just after they closed for the day. I lost a whole day of using it, and when I returned it on Monday, they wouldn't make any reasonable accommodations for my not actually being able to use the equipment I paid for. I don't plan to return, and I would recommend you find someplace else for your equipment rentals. read more

Don't rent anything from BJ rental in poway they up charge for everything I have been renting equipment from other BJ rental for many years. But this was the first time using the poway location to rent a 1 1/2"portable muncher I called and took it off rent then when I tried to return it that day they had closed and locked gate before 5 pm when I arrived they where loading a excavator but wouldn't open gate so I could return the muncher So they charged me for a second day. That extra $100 must mean more to them than my business! I didn't get the guys name but he has a tattoo of a piston on his arm he's a ass. James was very nice and tried to help but piston guy wasn't having it they should fire him !, read more

I really only rent from this company and this location is great. They have fair pricing, good quality rentals and they are always willing to work with you on equipment and delivery. It's also close to KRC and HD which makes it fairly convenient. read more

They were available last minute with a trailer on a Saturday. They quoted us up front and were quick with check-in check out. Can't ask for anything more! read more

I rented a 60' cherry picker (boom) machine from these guys to trim Californian palm trees on my property for a very reasonable price per day. On day 2 it got stuck in mud on my property. Not an easy problem to solve since the machine weighs 24,000 lbs. BJ's were very reasonable and understanding and eventually charged me exactly as per contract even though I'd had the machine for 5 days longer than planned. Good people at every level in my experience - I'd recommend them without hesitation, and I've tried several equipment hire places before this. read more

Customer service is horrible. When you have to pry information out of the staff, the staff should be replaced. My inquiry was a simple one regarding pricing, time frames for rental and equipment weight but they came across like they were being bothered. I travel from the mountains in East county for equipment rentals and do not have the time or patience for attitude. Alpine Equipment is by far superior in customer service and information. Save yourself the aggravation and stay away. read more

So far, I've rented a couple of things here, a knee kicker to stretch carpet, and a lawn edger. I haven't had any problems in the couple of times I've been here. Staff has been friendly and helpful. You can also call ahead to reserve an item. I'll definitely be back for more rentals in the future. So far so good! read more

I had a job that I needed a bobcat for. They said it would be dropped off in an hour. 3 hours later it was on its way. I cancelled the order and hand filled my trailer to make my deadline. Unrealistic expectations on time. If I knew it would take 3 hours to deliver I would have found a different option. read more

The manager down there is real helpful. I believe his name is mike. He was knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs. I had over grown trees on my property and these guys dropped off this cool looking 30' spider man-basket that I was able to tow back with my Chevy 2500. This saved me a pickup fee of $25! Great deal, great service, check these guys out. read more

My following comments are full transparency and not fake news. I recently rented a masonary saw from these guys. I came in with one idea of what I wanted after watching a few YouTube video's. Fortunately I had Jimmy waiting on me. He asked a few questions and did a great job recommending an alternate table saw. Being that this was the first time that I have ever attempted this type of project needless to saw I was very open to expert recommendations. Patrick helped demo and offered some super recommendations on how to help this novice attempt to properly accomplish use of this equipment. Listen, I am not sure why there have been a few negative reviews but over the years I have routinely rented equipment from them and everything is always in perfect working order. This shop provides excellent service at always reasonable and fair pricing. Thank you for helping make my backyard project a success. I will be back! read more

Called 1 hour before I drove over there. They say they have everything I need, take my name, will hold it for me. Drive 6 miles over there and they don't have it. Don't waste your time. read more

I rented a 14' step ladder from BJ's today. I originally thought I needed a 16' and then had to swap it out for the 14'. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They weren't annoyed when I needed to make the change, or at least they didn't show it. The price seemed very reasonable. Was on hold for a little while when I first called, but otherwise, very good customer service. I would definitely use their services again. read more
