As soon as we entered, she came galloping from the back stockroom to do a meet and greet. She's a sweetie. As I said in my previous review, I am a "bar hopper". I like to go around and support a variety of locally owned handcrafted soap boutiques. Since I moved to Illinois five years ago, I've been shopping on the east side of the river. Since I was having on The Hill, I made a point to shop, Herbaria The one thing that was on top of my list, Shave Soap. When shaving, I prefer a good lather from a shave soap over a cream or cream. Herbaria has several scents to choose from and I chose, Bay Rum and Jojoba. I am looking forward to my first shave with my new bar. I also bought a bar of Soapy's Choice. In the past, I've had very furry long haired dogs in the past, but now I have two Chihuahua mixes and they have very short fine hair. So, I thought I'd give Soapy's Choice a try. I'm sure my little girls are going to like showering with daddy. My other bar of soap was, Citrus Oatmeal. I love a good oatmeal soap, it invigorates my skin. To help my new bar last longer in the shower I bought a, Soap Lift. I liked that they had a good selection of colors, I grabbed a grey to match the colors in my primary en suite. The sales associates are personable and not high pressure. They are there to assist you, answer questions and to make recommendations. With their good customer service and Bubbles puppy dog eyes, I guarantee you will not walk out empty handed. When: January 13, 2026 Why: Shave Soap and more

The products smell amazing and I was surprised at the variety, loofahs, deodorants, lotions, doggy soaps, soap dishes and more. The scents aren't scant either, there are plenty to choose from. I really enjoy that they have shea butter in them and all the ingredients are natural and not a bunch of chemicals. When checking out I asked about online ordering and was given a coupon to use online. The staff member working today remained friendly and upbeat and seemed genuinely excited about their products. It is always nice to buy from small local shops where there is genuine joy and love for their product. I am so happy that I came across this store and will definitely be returning.

It will be a real practice this gift-giving season to actually be able to part with any of the amazing products I purchase... we'll see!! I felt totally at home & inspired by the combination of rock n roll/earthy/artsy vibes the showroom exudes! For lack of a better word, it is just so COOL in there with a big claw foot steel bathtub in the entry filled with super creatively named & fragranced bath bombs, cool music playing & beautiful smells coming from the awesome staff in the back creating these gorgeous, one-of-a-kind products (comparable to LUSH, but with cleaner ingredients from what I understand & much more interesting, beautiful flavors!!) Side note: herbalist on staff! These products are more than just great smells, their healing power is totally legit. I esp love the "Magic Neem" bar soap for my fickle face skin. It's gentle & doesn't strip my face's natural oils. So great! Thank you!!! Xo!

I use a deodorant soap for the manly areas and a Dove for Men product for the rest of my body. After this shower, I am flipping that bird off and replacing it with the locally made soap from Maven. The scent I bought on my first visit was, "my boyfriends t-shirt". I can assure you it does not smell like the t-shirts of the Sharks and Jets after they have been dancing on the rooftops and streets of New York City. In stead it smells like fresh clean laundry that has dried in a fresh summer breeze. The fragrance was so soothing that I also bought it in a Wood Wick Soy Candle and Solid Perfume. I can tell you now, I will be a repeat customer at Maven. I may even have to start considering myself to be a metro sexual, which I have not in the past.

Someone in my household has skin sensitivities and we often order soap products from a company nearby who also produces all-natural soaps. Since we've found this place, I've been coming here to buy their soaps instead! My favorite is their lip products: the butterfly and honey kisses especially. They're petroleum-free and based on the listed ingredients, I would say they're also gluten-free. They also leave my lips feeling soft but not in a greasy kind of way. My lips have not been feeling chapped even in the crazy winter conditions since I switched to only using their lip balms. They carry other beauty products as well. I love the charcoal facial soap with tea tree oil. They always make my skin feel clean and since I have very oily skin, the charcoal actually has been helping. This shop really is wonderful. If you're into all-natural products, you need to check it out! I'm not into holistic stuff but I do tend to avoid using excessive chemicals in my body if I can help it. The staff are also very helpful and friendly. Coming here is usually a joy in itself!

I didn't know how anything worked so she explained the scents and what I could do. I first started smelling the oils. I quickly gravitated towards 3 scents. She put them on a swatch so that I could see how they smelled together. I loved them!! Up next was the home fragrance. I went over and started to smell scents because another gentleman came in to re-up on his fragrance. I smelled the Ocean Breeze first. I was sold on that one. I continued to smell other scents though. The ocean breeze smelled so clean and inviting. Cassie came over and once again explained to me how the lamp worked and even gave me a demonstration. Told me how many hours each size would last. By this time I'm invested!! Take my money please. So I picked a lamp and luckily enough it came with the fragrance I wanted.
