What a wonderful experience this morning. The history of Bitty & Beau's, of where it started (Wilmington, NC) and the name (2 children) who have Down Syndrome. And how the franchise has spread around the world. Bitty & Beau's is open in the morning and early afternoon. They serve hot or cold coffee and other drinks. They also have a nice selection of pastries and breakfast sandwiches at reasonable prices. There is even a good amount of various merchandise to include t-shirts, mugs, cups, etc. I had a hot coffee and a ham and egg sandwich for breakfast. Both were very great tasting. The batista's were Emily and Libby, both young ladies were very caring and friendly. The owner/manager (former school principal) Anne-Marie was super nice and very helpful to letting us know about RI and its places to visit. The unique way they call you when your order is done, is with a playing card. We had the Jack of Diamonds. On 25 October 2026, Bitty & Beau's will celebrate their 1st Birthday for the shop on N. Stopped in for a cup of water for my service dog. I asked the woman at the counter, who said yes then ignored me while she helped three customers who came in after me -- to the point that someone behind me in line finally spoke up and said I was just waiting for water for my dog. They gave me a Dixie cup. I asked if I could have one of the larger cups since he's a big dog, and they said no. Shocked at how unfriendly this was, especially given their supposed inspiration at the entrance, which led me to expect understanding of what service animals do for people. A bit sad. read more

I had a truly wonderful experience here. I've been wanting to go for a while and was so happy I finally made it in. The location is really great and the coffee shop is large and very clean. Everyone who worked here was so friendly and wonderful! It made my whole day better just by coming here. I got a peppermint iced coffee and a fruit loop crispy treat and both were a 10/10 for me. This is a fabulous coffee shop. Got one of the best iced coffees I have ever had. Non-dairy milks are available. Have a nice selection of gluten free goodies that are individually packaged. This dining room is absolutely stunning. What a beautiful spot downtown offering strong Wi-Fi and tasty coffee. I'm really torn about this place. The inside is beautiful, the staff is so sweet and the Wi-Fi is strong. It's a perfect spot to sit and get work done because they have comfy booths in the back so if you're sitting for a long time you won't be uncomfortable. And of course, you can't go wrong with a place that was built upon such strong community values. My issue was, the breakfast sandwiches are premade so you cannot make any changes to them and unfortunately, they don't offer a sandwich that does not have meat on it. My latte was honestly really bad. It taste just like a cup of warm milk. It's hard because I know it was made with love and the staff was really attentive, but unfortunately, I didn't love the items I purchased. There is two hour unmetered parking out front, which is a plus. They're not a lot of spots but enough if you're going early in the morning. read more

This is a local outpost of a growing coffee shop chain dedicated to hiring individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Given this, I expected to find a group of counter staff and servers who might be well-supervised and closely observed while learning their trade. I was surprised today, though, to find a trio who'd driven up from Connecticut to cheer on their cousin, our cashier - who was so friendly, competent, and patient - with us! I like the design of the space, and really was impressed by the clever use of matching sets of playing cards (one for the customer, the other for the barista) so that shy workers and those for whom speech might not come easily can still bring our orders! I had an excellent iced latte (I wasn't asked for my milk preference, but would have ordered non-dairy from the start if I'd wanted it); my husband had a cold brew. My drink was excellent; his was good, but slightly bitter. Prices are about the current average for a cup of coffee, so this might become a near-daily stop, since I work just across the street. What will definitely be on my next visit though is one of the tasty looking breakfast sandwiches I didn't get to try today! Parking may be tough for the casual visitor, so maybe the target audience is the large student population in the area, maybe its residents in the large Station Row/Park Row complex. In any event, try to make it here at least once. It's a beautiful space with a great mission and good coffee. read more

This is a new favorite coffee space of mine. First of all, the space is great-high ceilings, lots of light and plenty of tables. The service is outstanding. The staff greets you as soon as you come in and they take their time making sure your order is correct. The coffee is delish and even though the food menu is limited, everything is good. Loved the extra touch of heating up my pastry without my having to ask. Most importantly, Bitty and Beau's is providing job training for adults with special needs and who wouldn't want to support a place with that mission!! read more

My friend wanted to check out this place because it was new, but also because of the mission behind it. Based on their website, "Bitty & Beau's Coffee is a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop, where people with intellectual & developmental disabilities are valued in the workplace. It's a place where diversity isn't just appreciated, it's celebrated. Bitty and Beau's proudly employs 450+ individuals with disabilities nationwide." When you walk in, this message is also sprinkled on the walls, and their merchandise corner (I was tempted to get something). The menu is not overwhelmingly long, which is appreciated. I got their matcha latte, and after about 10 minutes, I had my order in my hand. While I waited, I read the stuff on their walls, and noticed how cozy some of their seating looked. I love the system they have for keeping track of orders. They have a sleeve with two of the same playing cards, they keep one and give you the other. When they call your playing card, you know your order is ready. As we walked out of the place, I noticed my cup had a handwritten note that read "We love you" and my friend's said something else. It was a unique touch, and a great way to start the day. I didn't realize there were more locations, but there are a couple others. read more

I love coming to Bitty & Beau's! It is such an amazing concept! I love the energy in this cafe. You are always greeted with a warm and energetic hello. The staff is lovely and always put a smile on my face. The coffee is really good. I recently ordered a lemon berry muffin. They suggested I warm it up and I was so happy that I listened! Came here for the grand opening in providence. Very friendly staff and owners. Ordered the pumpkin spice latte and a croissant sausage breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious, when they add the chicken and waffle I would love to try it the next time I am here. The sitting area and vibe is really comforting and good to do school work. I recently stopped by Bitty & Beau's because it's new in our neighborhood and looks so cozy inside. I was greeted with a friendly smile, and I ordered a blueberry muffin and dark roast coffee. I was handed an 8 of hearts card and told when my order was ready, I'd hear my card! Everyone behind the counter was efficient and most importantly, happy, which made me happy! My order was ready fast and my coffee was hot. The blueberry muffin was soft and warm and had a delicious, cake-like texture with crunchy sugar crystals on top. The decor was cozy yet uncluttered, natural wood with cream and black accents. There's a huge word map on the wall, when you can pin your hometown, such a nice touch! I'm excited to have a great coffee shop in my neighborhood, looking forward to returning soon. read more

I took a bus from the Cape Monday and I allowed a few hours to get a taste of Providence before I would board my train home. I took an Uber to College Hill. My baggage was somewhat heavy and I'm older and I have bad hearing so I knew I shouldn't attempt much. Oh, also it was raining. I had picked the nearby Korean place but really what I wanted was some warm comfort food and hot strong tea. I found both at Bitty's instead of the other place. Everyone, even the customers, were so non-judgemental I got really relaxed and stretched out and hung out for over an hour. It was exactly what I needed. I'm a vegetarian and I found a sausage on my egg sandwich. I did what I do at McD's - sausages make great frisbees. read more

I was able to finally get to Bitty and Beau's new location this morning before work and my experience was absolutely amazing. From the second that I opened the door I was greeted by their enthusiastic and kind employees! Emily, who rang up my order took her time and made sure to confirm each of the ingredients for my order. The ordering system is also adorable, you are handed a playing card, which is then called when your order is complete. I also noticed after taking the order sticker off of my drink the adorable handwritten note on my cup. It warmed my heart being able to support this wonderful business and their beautiful staff.
