Reservations are recommended and usually necessary, so we were surprised to see we were only one of seven tables. I guess it pays to eat early! Lobster ravioli was the special, and I was tempted. I was hungry for beef though, so I got the Philly sandwich with tots. The spinach artichoke dip is always good, so we split an order. My guest had the boneless wings with a side of chili and onion rings. My sandwich was blah. Only the portion with the peppers and onions had any flavor at all. The tots were hot and crunchy. The chili comes with a heavy layer of cheese on top and the wing portion was bigger than expected. The onion rings are the battered type. Our waitress was great. She was hopping but still kept our drinks filled and kept checking in. The one really bad touch was the smell. There was this really strong gingerbread aroma overpowering the room. I couldn't tell if it was a candle or an oil burner but it was not subtle at all. I felt like you could taste it, and not in a good way. We surprised the waitress by ordering dessert - red velvet cheesecake. It is really red velvet cake with an extra thick cream cheese frosting. I was wary about eating out on Mother's Day and the FB page recommended reservations, so we made them. Unfortunately, neglected to mention that a table was necessary to accommodate my physical restrictions. We ended up at a large table and felt bad because a number of parties without reservations had to be turned away. Our waitress was one of two. They were constantly on the move trying to serve a full house and doing a fine job of it. The service was slow as far as food arriving from the kitchen, but that was to be expected with the crowd. I tried the rangoon pizza which I had wanted to try many times. I always hesitated because I thought it might be too much of the same one dimensional flavor and I would tire of it as my entire meal. The waitress told me it is available as a flatbread, which is a much more manageable size. The pizza was tasty and would be a great appetizer. But, yes, as a meal it is rather unsatisfying. My companion had the sirloin with shrimp in a bourbon sauce. It was prepared just as he likes. It comes with a salad, vegetable and dinner roll and he was very satisfied. We had the cauliflower with cheese sauce as an appetizer - his favorite. It was meh. The cauliflower was crunchy, but the cheese was the typical canned, tasteless garbage that passes for sauce in these parts. I WISH some enterprising restaurant would make an effort to serve a decent side with cauliflower. I make one at home that is perfect and not that difficult. Roadhouse is the perfect term for the ambiance of the place. Bustling and kind of cutesy, not a 'nice' place, but we weren't expecting a date night. The food is extremely varied - from steaks to pizza to burgers, with some nice touches like the naan dippers with the spinach dip. I recommend Bitton's for a decent meal at a decent price. read more

A gem on the prairie. Husband and I were heading from Lake Shetek to Camden State Park. We're kind of looking for food, but not expecting to find anything. As we drove by, we noticed they were open so we decided to turn around. We were glad we did. The decor was pleasing and clean. The staff was friendly. The menu was extensive and fun. Husband loved the Smothered Chislic. I enjoyed the Gyro. Would definitely recommend. read more

We are from Southern California and also reside in southwestern Minnesota, as a result we are used to very good food. We have been coming to Bitton's for a number of years, it is the combination of the ambiance and food that Sissa and David make, that make this an absolute diamond in southwest Minnesota. What a hidden gem! We were made to feel welcome the minute we walked in the door. The decor is rustic without feeling overly campy. Beer selection is good. The food menu offers more than the standard small town bar fare. I had the pepper burger...perfectly cooked and the heat was just the right amount. Our waitress Sienna was attentive and fun! Typically, I'm not a fan of cheese pizza. Our two little grandsons were with us so we ordered the cheese pizza. Hands down, the best cheese pizza I've ever eaten. I was expecting boring and the flavor was delicious. So glad we ordered and tried it. read more

The food is fantastic and the menu offers an impressive amount of choices! It truly is difficult deciding as so many entrees sound excellent! Guests are always greeted by friendly smiles and a welcomed fashion! Atmosphere is warm and homey! A small town atmosphere that makes you glad you're there! These are difficult times, so I'm grateful for a place that prospers. I've seen several other places not be able to stay afloat in the Slayton area, so I wish nothing but the best for this place. But....the wait time for the food is painfully long! This is the second time for me of experiencing a long wait. The last time was the summer before Covid. Coincidence? Maybe. I'll still come back to dine but with a little more hesitancy next time. Saturday's (1/29/2022) wait time was an hour & 20 minutes. (I know the pre-Covid wait time was right around that length too.) Reading many glowing reviews here I didn't see anyone else mention a long wait time. So, maybe this was just a coincidence. read more
