Bittersweet indeed! When we first walked in, we were not greeted because they were occupied with their gadgets. So we took the initiative to greet them first to break that awkward silence in this small spaced bakery only to get a quick "hello" from the gentleman behind the counter. Cold but whatever, we came here for the goodies which looked amazing! Mini Cannoli (2/$3.50)- I kid you not, this cannoli tasted like it came straight from the North End! So good! Raspberry Flakey Puff- Super light and airy. House Bar- Coconutty, white-chocolatey, chewy goodness. Overall Service: When we asked them what was the difference between the Magic Bar and the House Bar, the lady gave us an oddly vague answer "One have oatmeal, one have white chocolate. One have pecans, one have caramel." What?! Which one has what? If you're going to be short with people, then at least be concise by listing the ingredients properly, like "the Magic bar has ____" and "the House Bar has ____" . Oh boy folks, oh boy. The pastries worth trying but they really should work on their customer service etiquette.

A bit of a different review for me... Perhaps it was the cold weather and quaint country-like charm that led me to purchase more than just the usual cuppy at the tiny locale directly across from the Old Town Hall. I'll start with the cookies: They all looked thick and lovely, so I picked a peanut butter and an oatmeal raisin. The flavors were there, which is great. Unfortunately they were both crispy and dry. Not sure if this has to do with an open end display and air circulating or not...just a guess. I know not everyone does, but I prefer soft, chewy cookies. As for the GIANT cuppy: Perhaps it should be a "cuppin", as I believe the batter goes into a huge muffin tin! This isn't just any old dessert, it's like a MEAL! Breaking it down, $4.50 will get you a 75/25 cupcake to frosting ratio. My vanilla/vanilla actually was whipped up on the fly as the only one left in the display had chocolate frosting, which I never do on a first try. Bonus points to Lynn for making that happen. I was very excited to try my giantess much later in the evening, especially after discovering that the frosting had developed that ever so slight "crust". How else to describe when frosting sets like that...it gives a wonderful mouth feel when those crystals kinda "break down" and dissolve into creamy tasty vanilla on the tongue. A job well done. Ms. Lynn could possibly take a shot at Lyndell's with her hulk of an entry! If yelp had the system, this would be 3 1/2 stars.

Every now and then, you ask for something very specific and you get exactly what you were hoping for. The picture doesn't even do it justice. It was beautiful and possibly the most delicious cake I've ever had. This was for my mom's 100th birthday and it was perfect. So many compliments. Thank you!

I purchased a wonderful cake! I will admit $35.00 for a cake was somewhat pricey. I will try yet again and hope that was the exception.

They used my love of food trucks to design a custom menu (self-serve food stations featuring: nachos, tacos, ramen & slider "bars") as well as serving mini crab cakes & lobster rolls (CHUNKS of lobster meat & claw) with a beautiful, bountiful "grazing" table (tons of cheese, fruit, veggies, hummus, house-made potato chips & dip)...all of this being entirely fun, casual & modern but decorated & set up so classy & beautiful to fit in with my "rustic elegant" barn theme. Our favors/place settings for guests were individually wrapped caramel apples tied with little ribbons and people were going nuts at how cool of an idea it was (also Stacy & Jason's idea!) The food was incredible. There were NO leftovers from dinner & only a small amount of apps left over because we over-ordered on purpose for a nice midnight snack ;] There were extra apples & I took most of them & plan on eating one a day for the next few days. All of our guests were blown away, had fun, complimented the food and Stacy, Jason & their staff's professionalism & hospitality. They even helped store & serve the dessert from the bakery I run (not their own product but they understood how important this element was to me). Stacy is incredibly responsive with all emails/the business end of things & to ICE THE CAKE, she offered us a decorating service as well! (AMAZING for me, who is aesthetically challenged). I was SPEECHLESS when I walked into our barn and saw the tables decorated with eucalyptus leaves, pumpkins, gourds, floating candles and an absolutely gorgeous sweetheart table. I'm still reliving the memories from yesterday and Stacy & Jason were a HUGE part of one of the most important days of my life & I could not have asked for a better caterer & decorator. I wish I could give them 100 stars instead of 5. They are worth every penny, do it, do it, do it. It was PERFECT.

From the very beginning, the process felt personal and thoughtful. Our cake tasting was such a great experience--they allowed us to sample every flavor they offered, which made it both fun and easy to find exactly what we wanted. As someone with a nut allergy, this meant a lot to me, and I really appreciated that none of the cakes contained nuts, so we could enjoy everything worry-free. Our cake was three tiers, and each flavor was a hit. The top and bottom tiers were banana cake with a chocolate ganache, and it was absolutely dynamite. Every bite was rich, moist, and left you wanting more. The middle tier was a carrot cake with a cinnamon cheesecake buttercream, and it was unreal--it actually ran out so fast that I only got one slice! There wasn't a single piece left by the end of the night, which says everything. So many of our guests told us it was some of the best cake they've ever had. If you're looking for a bakery that delivers both incredible flavor and a memorable experience, we highly recommend Chickadee Hill Cakes.

Primarily due to the fact that I normally pick up fresh eggs from my bestie in Derry, I ended up searching for a contingency plan in the event she was already sold out on her end. Such was the case today. First, a caveat: if you're happening by this store southbound, the parking lot entrance will be the second turn on the right just past the store itself. It can be a little confusing due to the second logo sign on the side of the warehouse building which, to newcomers, may appear to be an entrance point. I have no idea if and what they keep back there (probably just extended storage), but from what I could ascertain, the main store is the smaller building in the center of it all. Naturally, the interior is (like I said) small and pretty unassuming, if I'm being entirely accurate. What you see is what you get and this is a good thing. Because everything looked pretty fresh and tasty to me. I possess neither the space nor memory to recall every last item they have here. But in addition to extra large fresh eggs, they also feature baked goods (to include my all time favorite - FUDGE!!) and real maple syrup. That's right! None of that synthetic, overly sugary crap for us true New Englanders. This, and other grocery stores like it, are the places we go when we want true, authentic maple syrup. So anyways, I was here for the eggs. Now, I may be writing this review prematurely since I haven't exactly tasted the eggs yet. But from what I can tell, this place is legit. They even have Apple and Google pay, which actually surprised me. The Yelp page didn't list this as a viable option at the time of writing this review. I will certainly be submitting an update recommendation to the powers that be. The staff were quite friendly and approachable. Didn't really stay long to chat or anything though. Those were just my first impressions. The location is tucked away, but easy to get to. It also appears they have quite the local following. So, I definitely will return. At some point, I'd really like to get my hands on that peanut butter fudge and genuine maple syrup. Can't really recommend this place any harder for picking up fresh produce and treats. Sunnycrest Farms is worthy of 5 extra large farm fresh eggs served any style out of 5.
