Being the area I made reservations which I can tell you is HIGHLY recommended, if on a game day. We started with a cocktail and a draft beer, I had the Dovetail on draft and they are very good and local! The vibe was definitely loud (understandably) and our back-corner table had more of a retro diner feel than the upscale ambiance we expected. Food was solid: the warm bread board was a great starter, the steak salads were good (although the steak consistency varied a bit), and the warm chocolate cookie dessert was tasty--though the soft serve reminded me a little of DQ. Cocktails were strong, but with an $18 espresso martini and a $24 premium dirty martini, you're definitely paying Chicago prices. Overall, we spent about two hours there waiting for the skies to clear, and despite the chaos of the storm, the staff handled an incredibly busy night with grace. Another gentleman, not sure what role he played at the establishment, approached us while the officer was still there. He began questioning me and Rory's legitimacy on being a service dog since he just saw the officer pet him. I informed him that the officer had asked and I said it was ok. He then said "we have a lot of people that pretend their dogs are service dogs to get them in"; I replied I have his badge and the dog trainer's(dog training elite) number to contact her. He allowed us in. Less than a minute latter when my finance, Rory, and I were walking to a table, the bouncer/manager re-approaches us and says we have to leave predicated on the notion I let an officer say hi and pet Rory after the officer had asked. The law allows establishments to only ask 2 questions when it comes to service animals; 1) Is it a legitimate service animal? 2) What service is the service animal providing? I was only asked #1, if Rory was a service animal, I am allowed to give my service animal a break on occasion and I decide who can and can't say hi to him. Have never been discriminated like this in my life. And will never be returning to the facility.

During the USA vs. Australia match, a buddy of mine and I decided to grab some food. Funny enough,…read morewe actually met while traveling through Europe, only to find out we both live in Chicago. He lives in Logan Square and had been to The Harding Tavern a few times, so when he recommended it, I didn't hesitate. We've eaten our way through a good chunk of Europe together, so I knew his recommendation wasn't going to miss. I kept my order simple, or so I thought. I went with the buffalo chicken wrap. At first glance, you'd probably think, "Safe choice. It'll be good, but nothing special." I can confidently say that's the wrong way to look at this wrap. I'll be the first to admit that I don't usually order wraps. One of the biggest reasons is that so many places struggle to make every bite consistent. Too often you get one bite that's all lettuce, another that's mostly tortilla, and another that's just chicken. A great wrap should give you a little bit of everything in every bite, and that's exactly what they do here. The buffalo wrap isn't overloaded with ingredients, but it doesn't need to be. The chicken is cooked perfectly with a light coating that's still crispy while staying incredibly tender and juicy. The buffalo sauce ties everything together without overpowering the wrap, and every ingredient complements the next. It's a simple wrap that's executed exceptionally well, and honestly, one of the best buffalo chicken wraps I've ever had. It might even be the best. The day couldn't have worked out much better. The USA beat Australia 2-0, I got to catch up with a good friend, and I found another spot that's earned a return visit. I'd come back for the wrap alone, but the whole experience made it even better. I'll definitely be back, and I already know I'll be bringing friends and family with me. Until next time!

Unfortunately, what I received was almost certainly not cod, but rather the much cheaper and, frankly, much less appealing swai. While the portion was generous, which is usually a plus, the texture and mild, somewhat muddy flavor were dead giveaways. Swai is a bottom-feeder, and it often has a distinct, watery mouthfeel that's just not what you expect from good fish and chips. It's truly disappointing when a place tries to pass off a lower-quality fish as something it's not. For those who don't know swai, I highly recommend doing a quick search before you encounter it disguised as something else. It's just not in the same league as cod, and if you're expecting the latter, you're going to be let down. This place really needs to be more honest about their ingredients. Two stars for the ample serving, but a significant deduction for the fish fraud.

I ordered the Harissa Shakshuka, it came with roasted peppers, onions, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, goat cheese, and two poached eggs, served with sourdough toast. When it came out, the presentation immediately caught my attention. The two poached eggs were sitting right on top of this beautiful, rich sauce, with the goat cheese scattered throughout. Once I cut into the eggs and that runny yolk mixed into everything underneath... wow. The flavor was outstanding. The tomatoes and roasted peppers gave the dish a deep, slightly sweet and savory base, while the harissa added a warm, smoky heat that slowly built with each bite. The garbanzo beans were soft and tender, adding this really nice texture. And the sourdough toast was perfect for this. I could scoop up the sauce, egg yolk, beans, and peppers all in one bite. That's when the dish really came together. This was a seriously delicious breakfast. Every bite had something going on, and I'd definitely order it again.
