Quaint little breakfast spot hidden in the Gables…read more Tina in the Gables is located in a small strip mall on LeJeune near US1. Parking is limited as it's shared with the other establishments on the strip. Inside is small with not too many tables but they also have a counter along the window if you are dining alone like I was. It's a popular place so if you come at peak hour there most likely will be a wait. I ordered what I heard everyone raving about which was the French Toast along with a Iced Coffee. The French Toast was as expected delicious. It comes nestled on a pond of sweet syrup with orange citrus. The Toast itself was the perfect balance of crispness from the cooking and the spongy syrup goodness. It was truly delicious. Now it is super sweet and I'm ok with that. But overly sweet is not your thing then maybe opt for something else. The coffee was good. I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means but it wasn't bad. The place was pretty full and people kept coming in so they are definitely doing something right. But I will say this, paying $34 for an Iced coffee and a slice of French Toast seems a little excessive to me. Was it delicious, yes but was it worth it for the price. For me it wasn't but maybe not for you. So I recommend Tina in the Gables especially on someone else's dime.

We went for lunch so didn't get to experience the show and party that usually happens on Friday and Saturday nights. Will definitely come back for it because it sounds like a great time! You walk in and it's just brimming with stuff ALL over the place. It's like a fever dream, but in a good way. Since we walked in it was packed and there was music which definitely set the vibe. Was a little hard to talk, but it made you want to dance the whole away through. The food is priced great and delicious. It took a little while, but completely understandable and the wait time was convenient for how packed the place was. The only reason I'm giving a four instead of a five was the service was a LITTLE slow. I understand again they were doing as good a job as possible for how packed the place was, but I had asked for water when our server took our order and I didn't get water till every single person at our table had to reask for water and I finally got some post meal. Our server was really nice, but again, took a while to get water, but we got another round of sangria and received those before the water. The place was bumping and people were dancing and having a good time. I would MAYBE check this place out again on a slower day. I hear they have mariachi!

AMAZING!!! This spot…read morehas quickly become a new favorite of mine. As someone who follows a plant-based lifestyle, it's not always easy finding Latin restaurants that don't use animal products in their beans, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they don't. And when I tell you these are the BEST restaurant beans I've ever had, I mean it. WOW. We actually discovered this place by accident two weeks ago when the restaurant we originally planned to visit was closed on a Monday. We needed something nearby, so I jumped on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and decided to give it a try. I wasn't expecting much, but I was completely impressed. Everything we've tried has been simple, fresh, and delicious. The Ensalada Turca is my favorite and an absolute must-try. The jugo de mora is incredibly refreshing, and the sopa de frijoles with rice and maduros hit the spot so much that I ordered it both visits. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure you have everything you need. The restaurant itself is small and unassuming, decorated with beautiful cultural touches. The music playing in the background instantly took me back to my childhood, reminding me of the songs my mom and grandma used to play on the radio at home. Overall, this is a hidden gem that's absolutely worth seeking out. We've already been back twice, and we'll definitely be returning again.

Solid Colombian comfort food that sancocho hit the spot!…read moreStopped in for lunch and left very satisfied. I ordered the Sancocho de Costilla and it was packed with tender beef rib, yuca, potato, carrot, plantain, and corn in a rich, flavorful broth. The portion was generous and tasted homemade perfect for a hearty meal. I paired it with a fresh beets salad and crispy tostones on the side. The tostones were perfectly fried (golden and crunchy), and the avocado + lime on the plate added a nice fresh touch. Everything came out hot and well-seasoned. Nothing fancy about the setting, but the food delivers that authentic Colombian taste. Service was friendly and quick. Great value for the portion sizes. Will be back to try more items next time

So it favors more of the grab and go unless you get lucky with an open seat or don't care eating in a crowded environment. As for the food, everything tasted fresh and homemade. We had the Arepa de Choclo, Pan de bono, the corn cake, and the mini cheese breads. Listed in order from our most favorite to not so much. The cheese bread could have been a little better. Felt dry and kinda hard. But the Pan de bono was perfectly buttery and soft and the Corn bread and Arepa de Choclo were both very flavorful and delicious. They had a huge variety of Colombian treats and snacks to choose from while there. We opted to try a white cheese with guava jam filled center. It was amazing. My wife had the guanabana shake and she said it was reminiscent of her childhood. Staff were friendly and took their time to answer so many questions we had. They also had a nice selection of frozen items to take home. Great option when looking for Colombian baked goods or snacks.

We grabbed seats at the bar around 2 p.m., because yes... there's almost always a line. That's just how it is here. It wasn't going to be a long wait but we always prefer laid back bar seating for lunch. They've expanded over the years to keep up with the crowds, and the fresh seafood display by the door lets you know exactly what they're so special for. Let's start with the fish croquetas because they're in a league of their own. Hands down the best in Miami. We also ordered cod fritters, and every bite tasted incredibly fresh. Before the entree, they bring out a small cup of soup, either fish or lobster bisque, just enough to warm you up before the main event. I went with Creole shrimp, and opted for salad and fried sweet plantains, while hubby ordered fried fish chunks with white rice and black beans. And let's be clear... you can't leave a Cuban restaurant without ordering black beans. There's something about theirs that tastes like they've been simmering in someone's vieja (that's grandmother) kitchen all day. Pure comfort feels. One thing I really appreciate is the portion sizes. They're generous without being over the top, so you leave satisfied instead of needing a nap in the parking lot. And of course, there's only one proper way to end meals like this: flan and a Cuban espresso. If you're visiting Miami, this is one of those places you simply have to experience.

The only negative is the parking, very close tight spaces in a narrow strip mall area. But once you park its perfect. This is definitely a local Miami spot. No tourists, honestly I don't even want the tourists to find out about this hidden gem, haha. The fish is super fresh and they have fantastic prices. Service is prompt and they work very hard to make everything perfect. Sometimes they pick up your plate a little too quick. You gotta make sure they don't pick up that last little bit of croqueta you had been saving!
