Well, it's been 18 months since Dan modified my BMW K 1600 seat. I was planning a ride to the West Coast to drop it off at RDL for a custom seat but a friend of mine had his GS done by Dan and recommended I try here first. I can't say enough about Bitchn Stitchn and the expertise that Dan and his Shop have. I've now got 15,000 miles on the new seat and have never had a single day where my tush was the reason why the ride came to an end. He was able to build a substantial deep bucket to give me some back support without having to put a backrest on the dual seat. I was initially looking to purchase a new seat for Harley Davidson Ultra, and I had remembered someone telling me about this business a few years ago. I was interested in getting my seat shaved, to sit more flat footed. However, after seeing that he could also covert my seat to heated as well, I was really interested. Now, I had done some research on new/used heated seats, that would still need to be shaved, and those were still running around a minimum 700+. So I reached out to Bitchn Stichn, and spoke to Dan, who was very friendly, and knowledgeable about what I wanted to get done. I must have spoken to him for about twenty minutes about what I wanted, and what he could do to make me happy with my seat. After finding out that I could not only get it shaved, and having it converted to heated as well, for less than a new/used one. The decision was made to get this done. Now I cannot guarantee this will be the same for you, since all seats, are different, your price may vary. I dropped my seat off the following week, and We probably spoke for a good twenty minutes, about what exactly he was going to do (again, this dude knows his stuff). When I got my seat back, I could not only feel the difference of my footing, I could also feel my a$$ get hot. Now me and my bride will have a warm a$$ while ridding in the annual toy runs in December. If your looking to get a custom seat done, or before you decide to modify your ride to get it lowered, you need to talk to Dan to see if he can help you first. BMW is known for expensive and very well made motorcycles. That is why it was such a shock to purchase a BMW S 1000 XR sport-tourer and experience such a horrendous OEM seat (my butt wasn't the only one complaining, as this was a consistent gripe with multiple reviews of the bike). Why has Dan been in business for over 30 years? Because he is an expert at his craft. Not only are his upholstery skills exceptional, he is a perfectionist and understands ergonomics and anatomy. He transformed my seat into an 'all day riding device', while maintaining the OEM look. BMW should take lessons from this guy!!!! Bravo!!!! read more

I don't usually write reviews but since there weren't very many reviews to begin with, I wanted to give my honest opinion and experience to make sure that other people don't waste their hard earned money coming to this place. Sorry if this is on the long side, but I firmly believe other people should hear and will benefit from this review. So I took in my road glide hoping to shave a little off so I can flat foot my ride and also make it a little more comfortable. Some quick info, I stand 5'5" tall and there really aren't a lot of options for us "shorter" stature people when it comes to bikes fitting us well...well anything over a 250cc that is. So I do a lot of research and I come to find this place. Again there really aren't a lot of reviews and those who did write, claimed these guys were pretty good so I thought I'd give these guys a try. They are "known" for their gel pads which I can honestly say from riding on their pads, DOES NOT WORK! Not only does this gel pad offer no better comfort after riding longer for more than 2 hours, but it defeated the purpose of having my seat shaved for me to get closer to the ground! Any adjustments they made to the seat was negligible due to the thickness of the gel pads. So with this installed, I maybe net gained 1/2" off the seat height! Oh and this process was around $350-400 if my memory serves me correctly. Also on a side note, I called the store and the owner answered and I very politely asked how much they really took off my seat because I didn't feel any difference. Well let me tell you, he got all offended and told me how dare I question his workmanship! So back to my experience, while I was there, I was also coerced into having them install their "proprietary" back rest which cost another $250. Just for reference, the ones you get from Harley which articulates and are easy to take on and off are around $180. They also adjust without any tools. Anyways, not only do I have this archaic back rest that I need to carry tools if I ever need to adjust this but the kicker is, every time I try to get this stupid thing off, I have to fidget with it (in a jiggling motion) because the metal pieces holding it together get stuck! So I'm in a parking lot looking like an idiot trying to get this thing off whenever I want to stow it away. Lastly, I also bought their sheep skin pads as I was going on a 8-10 hour ride and I wanted to be comfortable. This was another $125-150. So all in all, I spent about $800 at this place. Oh and when I bought it, there was no mention of a "no returns policy." Long story short, I ended up not using it as my friend brought up an excellent idea before our ride of using a padded bicycle shorts (which actually worked great!) Anyways, I tried to return the sheepskin when I got back but the attitude I got was unreal! The owner of the store even threaten to kick me out of the store when I questioned him on his return policy! Again, this is after me spending $800 with his shop plus no mention of his return policy on the receipt or otherwise. Bottom line, if you want to spend a crap ton of money with really no discernible return on your investment, on top of being treated like a half breed if you question his products or workmanship, this is the place for you! Otherwise, looking into custom seats with mustang or any of those reputable companies will likely be your best bet if you're trying to get closer to the ground. read more

The seat on my 14 year-old motorcycle finally decided to give in to entropy and began its dissolution right under my ass. After much procrastination and application of electrical tape I finally began looking for a cheap but good quality cover replacement in the Denver area. After getting quotes from several area businesses I was pointed to Bitchn Stitchn by the wonderful Ms. Jessica at BMW of Denver (Thanks J!). To put it in short form, I am shocked by the whole experience: it was way cheaper than I expected, the turnaround time was even faster than would be unreasonably expected (I think he took pity on me because I don't own a car - same day service!), and the quality of the work is spectacular. My seats, I believe, look better than they did when they were new. Now I went with a standard recover with some UV pitting in the foam repair. If you're into the serious custom stuff (flames sewn in, custom tooled leather) these guys do all that too. And the demo seats in the lobby looked great. Too bad flames on a BMW R bike look stupid, otherwise I'm sure I would have sprung for it. Can't say enough good about this place. Take a knife to your own motorcycle seat just so you can see how a shop is supposed to operate. read more

I am now on my third Bitchn Stitchn seat. 3 bikes and about 150K miles. Flawless is the only word that comes to mind. Dan or Paul hand craft your seat. Glue foam, grind foam, sit on seat, provide input, repeat until perfect. They understand bikes, fabrication, and anatomy. There are only a handful of true custom seat makers in the U.S. and I've used 3 of them. Bitchn Stitchn is by far the best. I'm a long distance rider on a BMW GSA. read more

I was referred to Dan at Bitchnstitchn by another seat maker. Dan lowered my BMW seat, added a gel insert and changed the profile so I would sit more level and not slide into the gas tank. I am a jeweler so am detail oriented. His workman ship was what I am used to seeing from our Master Jeweler. His pricing was more than competitive. He turned the job around in a few days. Had them do two seats for me on two separate bikes. One was done ok as they did the standard build they have for those bikes, known problem with the seat.. One was for a ride I custom built and I described specifically what I was going to use the bike for, not a bar hopper. Something that I could sit in the saddle riding 100's of miles in a day. I mentioned a trip I was going to take the bike on the following month and it would be over 2500 miles in a week. The bike doesn't have any saddle bags or trunk, but it is a cruiser with foot boards, windshield and luggage rack. The owner built me a seat that was more for looks (narrow and sleek) versus function, this initially cost me just under $500. Picked up the bike on the trailer and when I got to ride it I discovered I was hitting the seat pan and couldn't ride it for 50 miles without being in pain. It's not like I weigh alot, just under 200 lbs. I took it back to them and they proposed putting a gel pad in it and thought it would address it. They wouldn't do it for free, got into a discussion with the owner about what I asked for versus what he built and his position is he built what I asked for, was convinced it would fix it but I had to pay for the gel install. Now $125 later and although I don't hit the seat pan while riding it's still a seat you can't do more than 50 miles on. I called the owner, talked with him about the fact I think it's just too narrow, his position was they could definitely build me a seat that was wider but it would be at least $350 to start. Told him after I've paid over $600 for a seat I didn't think I should pay another $350, he said he built what I asked for already but glad to change it. If you want a seat for function and looks, go to vendors like Corbin, you can buy one initially for less than these guys and if you test it and it doesn't work (still looks brand new), they'll take it back. read more

We were referred to this place by several people, so we took both of our bikes in. Little did we know, that this is the only place that does custom seats in the area - so there's nothing else to choose from. They seem to do each seat the same - they have you sit on it, they mark where your legs and butt go, and then they carve around those lines and put gel or foam onto the seat. This may work for smaller people that just need some extra cushioning, but when you're bigger and ride a sportbike (which, they said that they don't have much experience with), they don't really know what they're doing. And, when you try to tell them where they've gone wrong, they have the attitude of "you don't know what you're talking about." Our experience was so frustrating (and costly!) that my boyfriend ended up just bring his seat home and customizing it himself - with the help of a friend's staple gun - rather than taking it back for another attempt. The process takes a long time, and you have to be there for it, because they'll ask you to sit on the seat several times. I'm giving three stars because they do have quite a few happy customers, the man working was pleasant enough, and the shop is interesting and well decorated. read more

I took my 2013 Ninja 650 in to see if they could address the very uncomfortable stock seat. They had me sit on the bike and started cutting down the foam padding. I was initially worried when they started building the seat because I thought it was going to ruin the look of the sport bike. When finished, the seat looked almost the same. I had a gel pad inserted as well. After riding for a week I love my bike so much more now. I am on the shorter side at 5'6" and now I feel like I have so much more control. My taint used to get destroyed on long rides and now all of those problems are gone. I was hoping the seat alteration would lower my position on the bike about an inch but I only got 1/4 inch. It was about $250 total. If you have a Ninja you will love your bike so much more after getting the seat rebuilt by these guys. read more
