3.5 stars ** Nestled in a restaurant it's a small bakery on the side: their Baklava is crispy and huge - good portions. Bring cash for them to honor prices w/o a sales or credit card tax. I have a specific preference for baklava so it's not that this place isn't good, I think I prefer baklava that isn't as rose-forward. Good pick me up treat for an affordable price. Service was a bit apprehensive and didn't get acknowledged by them until a few moments later.

The baklava (original walnut) was good but the pistachio cookie and Dubai cookie was overpriced and not tasty. They were not worth $5 a pop.

The sweetest person helped me with my order close to closing time and her recommendations were so tasty and perfect. I took several pieces to go and ate them at the beach nearby. Would highly recommend getting a variety to try!

Chocolate walnut (has cinnamon) and the simpler walnut (OMG gooood).

First, the Baklava is superb! Oh my! I live close, so had been trying to find them open and today was my lucky day. It turns out they close when they run out and they run out pretty fast. I talked to the owner who was awesome. The Baklava is inside the El Monsoor (sp?) restaurant so don't be shy, give the right hand door a tug and see if it is your lucky day. They take orders, so if you want surety ORDER Up! I got the plain and the chocolate walnut and they both blew my sandals off. Wow!

Wow. I just came across this hidden gem way out on Balboa Street. I was searching for a good cup of coffee in a locally owned (not a chain) business. Bitchin' Baklava came up at the top of the list with 5 stars, so I wanted to check it out. First, the coffee was really good. Egyptian style is strong, with the grounds in the cup, so sip it slowly. Now, I must tell you about the place. It's the same location as Al Masri, https://s.yelp.com/CWA35kOjqm, which is only open one night a week (Saturdays) for dinner and belly dancing. It's out on Balboa, between 41st & 42nd, and during the daytime, you wouldn't know that Saturday nights have such entertainment out there. There is plenty of free street parking in this neighborhood too. Al Masri is only open one night a week. The rest of the week, the woman running the place opens a take-out counter for Bitchin' Baklava. You can grab a single piece for $3 (worth it!), already a reasonable price, or buy in quantity and get a discount. Like 8 for $20. Once you taste it, you'll want to take home a dozen. I won't get into the variety. You can see that on the website. Lots of choices, and each is sweet and delicious. Check it out and write your own review. Tell me I'm right about this. I know you'll love it.

Yummy, quick, and decently priced baklavas! We were a bit snacky before our dinner reservation and looking for a quick bite, and came across this place! The interior is definitely interesting. We got there around 4-5 pm so right before dinner time and it was completely empty as they were setting up. The place was decorated to the brim and they had what looked like a stage for dinner performances which was cool! Wish we got to stay for that experience. The baklavas and pies were located in little display shelves at the counter. I wish they were heated since we came later in the day and the texture for the pies was a bit harder by then. We got a savory pie with potatoes in it, a classic baklava, hazelnut baklava, and lavender baklava. The pie was good, but as mentioned earlier, by the time we had it, it was cold and the exterior was dried out. The majority of them were also already sold out, which is why we got the potato one. The potatoes themselves were well-spiced and flavorful though! The classic baklava was the best out of the three; the hazelnut one tasted like a ferrero rocher and the lavender one tasted like lavender perfume. Would come back for dinner!

Artwork, phenomenal. Selection, phenomenal. Service, somehow even more phenomenal.

As the friend of a semi-professional Baklava connoisseur, I am contractually required to be up to date with my Baklava knowledge set, and it's safe to sayin that BB with all its flavors and types of this delicious gooey pastry is at the top of my list. Our group waltzed in mid-day and was immediately helped by a kind host who presented every single type of treat available from the honey-centric baklava, to the chocolate ones and even a wide varied selection of non-Baklava treats! Savory and sweet BB has em all! If you're traversing through the hills of SF and want to avoid the expensive airfare and hassle of TSA, and be teleported to the Levant/Sinai Peninsula you are very lucky because BB has you covered!

I'll have one of each... and I practically did. Bitchin' Baklava indeed!

There was a time (Orange County circa late 1970's) when the adjective "bitchen" was liberally tossed around in describing things one was "stoked" about. It's fair to say that Bitchin' Baklava is bitchen. I'm no baklava connoisseur but I'm not fond of birthday cake so those who love me look elsewhere to find something to shove candles into once annually. This year's treat was an assorted platter of what Bitchin' Baklava has to offer. It was a unique, surprising, and most welcome treat made even better because baklava endures. Perhaps it has a shelf life but three days later and I'm still consuming pieces that taste as good as the day they were presented to me. This is something rarely said about birthday cake. Sweet and honey-laden, Bitchin' Baklava offers a wide assortment of baklava flavors and though many different ones were presented to me I've consumed 4 so far and haven't discerned a difference among the ones I've tried. That's actually fine by me as I'm one who is most likely to prefer the classic offering. Curious about the flavors they offer, I consulted their web site and was a bit surprised to see a special baklava, the "45 - A tribute to our 45th President Donald J. Trump!" I will try not to hold this against Bitchin' Baklava though the ingredients I'd choose to make such a "tribute" would certainly differ from those they've chosen. The baklava tribute to 45 that I'd create would be comprised of inedible, difficult to swallow things. Just sayin'. If you're looking for sweet treats that have a shelf life - or delicious things made with filo dough - I think Bitchin' Baklava is a real find, pretty much guaranteed to make anyone happy. It certainly worked on me.

4 flavors of Baklava - walnut, hazelnut with chocolate chip, cashew, & almond !

I was able to impress my friends during our little reunion with sweets from this shop ! You can tell each baklava was freshly made and beautifully layered with yummy goodness. They were not overwhelmingly sticky, but chewy, flaky, distinct and totally Bitchin !! I highly recommend !! The owner, Susan, is also the sweetest and truly made my day.

Delicious, decadent dessert! I've been craving baklava after having tried it at a local restaurant, and this place definitely caught my attention with it's name! I came in later in the evening and was surprised that it was open late (till 9:30pm) as most bakeries are closed by 3pm. The bakery is located within a the Egyptian restaurant Al-Masri, which features quirky middle eastern-themed decor. The staff were in the back kitchen when I came in, so I had to give them a call/ring the bell at the entrance. The desserts are featured on a small counter inside a pastry case, with various flavors of baklava, including almond, hazelnut, walnut, dark cashew, and one with chocolate. I tried the chocolate hazelnut and almond, which were perfectly flaky, rich in flavor, but not overbearingly sweet. Slightly crispy, nutty, with a soft filling that wasn't too chewy or syrupy sweet. Their baklava has sugar crystals on top, which was different from others I've tried, adding to the texture of the pastry. One is a bit filling, so I'd recommend cutting them into halves if you want to try more flavors!

The best baklava ever! These delightful pastries really live up to their brand name. My fave is the hazelnut with chocolate chips, but in looking forro trying them all. #CovidGoals The business is run by an amazing woman who is also a veteran, so you can feel good about indulging in these decadent delicacies.

Amber M.

Absolutely best baklava I've ever had! Super flaky, airy, crispy and not too sweet at all. So many amazing and unique flavors to choose from. The chocolate walnut is a must try! The owner is also so friendly and helped explain all of the options. Also, they are such a good price for how big they are!

I was immediately greeted by chef Elmy and his staff. I ordered a gyro to go as I knew my wife would want to try as well. I was expecting a gyro neatly wrapped like a burrito in foil that I could place in my bag. Instead I was presented with two heaping plates of food covered in foil. Luckily the bike I was riding had a basket. Chef Elmy told me which plate to keep on top and instructed me to be careful with the food on my ride home. "Yes sir". I got home and present the plates to my wife. She removed the foil unveiling two colorful delicious looking plates of food. We were both glowing. One was the gyro I had ordered and the other was a mix of some of the most delicious beans I have ever had along with a salad, a roasted pepper and pickled vegetables. The portions were huge, but more importantly delicious. Food like this could only be made by someone who loves feeding people which I believe Chef Elmy does. From the very beginning, we were welcomed with bowls of soup as soon as we approached the truck. We were asked if we had any restrictions or preferences, and Chef Elmy cooked us a personalized meal. Note that everything is made-to-order so be prepared to wait a little - but for his cooking, anything is worth it. We were handed two gorgeous generously filled plates that could feed a family of 6! He also gave us bottles of water to keep us hydrated. The plate consisted of two wraps, chicken and kofta, with a couple of sides. We were not sure what the sides were (besides the delicious corn that was crusted and seasoned beautifully) but everything had us smacking our lips, especially the fried one. The food was intentional and made with so much love and care, something that is so rare to find nowadays. A real hidden gem and they deserve all the support! We cannot wait to return to try all the other food and specials Chef Elmy has to offer. Thank you for an outstanding and delicious lunch (and dinner)!

Because I'm pescatarian, The Wife graciously agreed to a veggie bastilla, instead of chicken. We expected the same thing, just without chicken; so egg and nuts. Nope - neither were present. But there was a lot of carrots. There was also a carrot salad, and carrots on the side of my main dish. The salad course was superb. The aforementioned carrot salad, plus a cucumber salad, and an amazing eggplant salad that I kept scooping up in my pita. I had the Moroccan seafood platter, with shrimp and scallops, both very well cooked. The Wife had the chicken kabob, and was very happy. At the end, we had baklava with stylishly poured mint tea. The show is almost as important as the meal. Speaking of which, we were there for the belly dancer Jennifer, and she was excellent. She started with a lit skirt, then came back twice, once with a curved sword on her head and another just alone. Beautiful and friendly, dancing briefly with a gentleman from one party, and for a while with a younger girl from another large family. So sweet.

There was complimentary bread which was insanely good and fluffy and warm plus tahini and an onion tomato sauce I think along with radishes and olives. We are not olive ppl sadly but I tried one and it was pretty okay. The service was great and all the servers were super attentive and accommodating. The Stuffed falafel was so good and huge 1 is enough for 2 people. The mosabaha was very refreshing and so good. The meat combo was good overall and everything was very herbally spiced, I wasn't impressed by the lamb tho but the kebab, hummus, and chicken were great! I haven't had Mousakhan before so not sure how it should taste but to me it was sweet and savory with really well cooked chicken. I honestly felt pretty healthy overall cause I was eating hella veggies and everything tasted so fresh. The kunafa was good we got it crispy and was yummy imo but was a lil oily (I think this is normal tho). Arab food isn't really spicy but it is spiced and very herbal which I felt in the food here, I appreciate that chili sauce is provided for the spice lovers. Overall, would highly recommend. It was about $100ish for everything and they recently increased their prices but tbh the portion sizes are huge and I feel like it is so worth it we had hella leftovers. My guy ordered this and thought it was average. 3/5 LAMB SHISH KEBAB WRAP ~ this was my dish. I ate one half of the wrap and it only held two cubes of lamb meat. The lettuce and tomatoes made the wrap bland. The meat was seasoned, but everything was plain, so it needed more seasoning. Honestly, this was missing flavor! I'll have to add something to it when I eat the rest of this wrap at home. 2.5/5 HALF ROASTED CHICKEN AND RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish. It needed more sumac. This tasted like plain roasted chicken. Maybe it needs more seasoning while marinating. It wasn't dry, so that's a relief.
