We paid a first visit today to Bistro Byronz in Mandeville and enjoyed ourselves. The Bistro has a svelte, contemporary, somewhat upscale persona, and features excellent service and amenities. There is a full bar and specialty cocktails are available. There was a big crowd on this Friday lunch hour and the surroundings were noisy and bustling, but all proceeded without a hitch. I'm watching my calories at present, so I had the Chicken Paillard served with greens in vinaigrette and braised vegetables. It was excellent; succulent, tasty, and generously portioned. Our party of five had a variety of entrees, including fish tacos, southwestern salad, and chicken Caesar sandwich. All were enjoyed. Our little one had the fried shrimp off the kid's menu and thought it was very good. Bistro Byronz was a very good experience. We will return. read more

Service. The waiter we had was rude. One of the people at my table had a question and he said "you have to give me a minute, I am waiting 3 tables". He walked away later in the meal when we asked for water shaking his head. He messed up the order and checks. We had a table with 8 people. Everyone got their meal except me. It was about 20 minutes later it was brought after everyone else had already ate. He apologized but the could have cut me a break on the cost since we were there to have a meal with good friends and i had to wait. I didn't order anything out of the ordinary, in fact one person in our party ordered the same dish and he got served with everyone else. I won't be going back. read more

I really admire how the owner/manager is so hands-on, frequently checking in with tables to make sure guests are happy. My dad and I went to dinner here last week and both loved it. Our server, Ashley, was great. We had never been before so she helped guide us through the menu. We both opted to get the Redfish Amandine, which was phenomenal. Just perfectly cooked. The restaurant was a little loud and it was packed. Had to lean in to hear each other a few times. The food was very good. The prices were fair. The service was a little slow, however we did learn they were short staffed and doing the best that they could at lunch. The waitress was very polite. The food was cooked per our individual orders. We did not try any alcohol alcoholic drinks, so I couldn't comment on them. The ice tea was refreshing. My first time here. My mom got a shrimp and crab meat salad but said the crab meat was "crabby" (not so great tasting) and the shrimp tasted imported, possibly-- as in, not so fresh. We were visiting Covington and decided to stop in for Happy Hour and get a snack. We sat at the bar and ordered the Blue Cheese chips with crab and a cup of gumbo. I had a cucumber martini and husband had craft beer. The chips were completely worth stopping for and the gumbo was just like I love it, a dark roux. First off, this is one of my new favorite restaurants. I adore the seating outside. What a great space! Happy hour drinks and small plates last until 5:30. You must try the blue cheese chips. So amazingly delicious. Our server was so funny, helpful and friendly. He suggested various drinks and appetizers that were a sure hit with our table. I enjoyed my vodka freeze drink. My husband and I enjoyed a yummy dinner here on a Saturday night. We got there around 6:15 and were immediately seated. By the time we left at 7:30, there were quite a bit of people waiting outside. We started with the French onion and shrimp and corn soup. Both were delicious! The bowls looked small, but the portions were more hearty than they looked. We then split the Byronz sandwich and the sliced steak sandwich. Instead of the chips/fries, we got the orzo and the carrot soufflé. The sandwiches were both really good, the steak sandwich was the favorite. The orzo was good, my husband said it reminded him of "kid pasta". The carrot soufflé was delicious- very sweet.
