I came in asking for a simple trim, about one inch off, and a very subtle face frame. I also made it clear multiple times that I did not want layers. Instead, I left with a head full of layers and what appears to be at least three inches cut off the back instead of the one inch I requested. During the haircut, I could tell it was heading in the direction I specifically asked to avoid, so I reiterated that I didn't want layers. Despite that, the haircut continued the same way. When I asked afterward why I had been given layers, I was initially told they weren't layers. Once I pointed them out bc they clearly were, I was told, "It looks better that way," and "It will grow out." I don't appreciate the attempt to gaslight me as if I can't see the cut and don't know how long my hair was. A stylist's personal preference should never override what a client explicitly requests. Hair takes months to grow back, and this isn't something that can simply be undone. Disappointed that the experience did not live up to the online reputation. This seems to be such a common issue. Why?!

I've been seeing Danny for a while now, and what I appreciate most is the trust I've built with him. I'm not just coming in for the same old cut every time--I feel comfortable enough to let him do whatever he thinks will work best, whether it's a seasonal update or just something new. He's got a great eye, and I always leave looking clean and confident. The shop itself is in a super convenient location right off Washington Ave, with a solid-sized parking lot (rare in this area!). It's also right next to Catalina Coffee and Dark Horse Tavern, so whether you need a quick pick-me-up or a drink before or after your cut, it's all right there. Cutthroat even offers a complimentary drink before your service, which is a nice touch--even though I'm usually rolling in last-minute and don't take full advantage. Something always went wrong and I had to get a corrective cut. I also notice a lot of staff turnover, and it feels understaffed. Stylists would come and go, and I have to re-describe what I want to achieve. The new stylists always felt very amature - maybe okay for fades or basic cuts, but folks with longer hair desiring Layered Flow cuts will be dissapointed. As such, I canceled my membership a few months back, switched to a new salon that is delivering consistent results and listening to my needs, and will not be back to Boardroom.
