The service here is AMAZING! Breanna did my cut and was exceptional--professional, attentive, and skilled. I also noticed they recently moved into a new location, so they're still getting settled in, but that didn't take away from the top-notch experience. I'm still on the fence about committing to a membership, so I'm giving myself a couple of days to think it over. One thing I noticed was a bit of emphasis on product sales, especially at checkout when some items were presented to me. I understand the business side of it--these aren't products you'd typically find at your local HEB--and I appreciated that the checkout staff gave me the option rather than any pressure. I ended up choosing just the mold rather than the full set that was offered. All in all, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely consider coming back when I want to feel like a Gent and a King! read more

They just get paid through the parking. We weren't even out of the car for 5 mins, and they called towing enforcement on the car.

Beautiful high end, but welcoming, environment! The refreshing and warm scent upon entry was my first sense that this place is the place to be. I came to pick up a gift card and didn't realize that I would enter this relaxing environment and want to stay! Marcelius welcomed me and gave me a friendly tour of the salon. He invited me to stay and have a beverage. I sat in the lounge to upload the pics to yelp and write a review about this great Gents Place and wonderful service! The gentlemen I saw getting services looked comfortable. The gents checking out looked sharp, clean, & refreshed! read more

I went there for a haircut a few weeks back and received the exact opposite of what I asked for, even when I showed the barber a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. I'm waiting for my hair to grow back, but it seems it'll be a slow process as it seems that when I have thinning hair, which wasn't present before going to Gents. Juan, the general manager, contacted me a few days later and was class act and offered me a free haircut should I decide to come back. I won't get the same barber again if that happens. I would say that the barber who cut my hair needs to listen and follow directions and not somewhat he wants. read more

Bought 12 haircuts in advance for $605 a over a year ago. I don't get cuts as often as most, but I was never told that they expire. Every time I called to make an appointment I confirmed how many cuts I had left and that I was free to use them as needed. I was always assured that was the case. Today I showed up for my haircut and was told that they had expired and I would have to re-pay. A haircut is a simple transaction that doesn't require a contract or an expiration date. I enjoyed going to this place for the past year but I'm happy to part ways given that they did not earn $450 of the dollars that they took from me. The individual at the counter offered no solutions and took a victim stance that they "just work there" and they "don't make the decisions". Nobody is every accountable anymore. Good place to go for a haircut and enjoy a few nice (but unnecessary benefits) however, they complicate what should be a simple business model in order to make a profit at your expense. Cheers to parting ways. read more

Great service with great packages to save your money! Gents Place is an upscale barbershop that will turn your hair into what you want it to be. Some may disagree, but our hair is an important aspect to our look and we should always look the best we can. Make sure to book your appointment via telephone or online. Once you become a member or are a frequent flyer, they do have an app to ease the process in booking an appointment. They have multiple courses (3-,5-,7-) all offering services based on your wants and needs. They also have packages that include these courses, so that you can save your money in the long run (totally worth it!). Why not elevate your haircut with a head massage, alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverage, and facial for only $10-15 more compared to a plain Jane haircut!? In addition to these courses, the packages includes monthly shoeshines, discount on hair products, and unlimited "upkeep" services. The stylists here are very outgoing and willing to be your "therapist" for the minutes you are there haha. Staci has been my stylist day 1 and I trust her with her scissors. At first I directed her with what style I wanted, but once I realized how well she cut my hair, I told her she can cut it anyway she sees fit. I feel like with every haircut we try something new and my hair style just keeps getting better. The shop is very clean! It is on the 2nd floor of the building! Make sure to arrive on time or a little early. Don't be late! read more

I found this place while googling head shave options and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. This ultra lux men's club is everything I could've asked for. Full bar, shoe shine, exclusive one of a kind products and all under one roof! I had the pleasure of working by with Sue, and she was a wealth of information as she walked me through the process of a 7 course treatment. Do yourself a favor and request the 7 course bc you deserve to be pampered. Something worth noting, is they host marketing events for their members to socialize, network and exchange business information which I thought was an incredible opportunity. Definitely my type of place and deserve all 5 stars. read more

Wow... just wow. There's a reason this place has nothing but five-star reviews so far. I'd honestly think that anyone giving it any less is just nitpicking. Heck, I was LOOKING for anything short of perfection and I couldn't really find anything substantial. When you walk in, the check in is to the left, a couple of lounge areas (they say one is for members?) is on the right, and a small bar is in the middle. They said they had beer, wine, and spirits. I wouldn't call some of their options top-shelf, but they carried Makers, so I was content. Garrett, who specializes in shoe shine, gave me the tour of the place. They've got an expansive set up with a half dozen barber chairs, a couple of private suites, two hand/foot repair stations (don't call it a manicure/pedicure!), and a "relaxation room" with dim lighting. I was impressed and went with their seven-course service. Michelle was solid-- she asked what I wanted, realized I had nothing in mind, asked a few more questions, and went to work making something that worked for me. She was careful to stick to scissors as much as possible and barely use the electric clippers. Following the haircut came the warm lather neck shave. She applied the hot lather first, let it set, wiped it off with a towel, and finished with what felt like a cold razor at that point. Quick, simple, careful service throughout the whole process. Next up we went over to the relaxation room. It's similar to the set up in the back half of Sport Clips, but much more classy. First up was a hot towel and a shampooing (complete with scalp massage). Then she replaced the towel and did a much faster conditioner and rinse. After providing some hand sanitizer, I dipped my hands in the paraffin hand dip and she wrapped the wax-coated hands with plastic bags, led me back to the barber chair, and leaned it all the way back into the type of recline you get on a first class plane seat. Another hot towel led to a relaxing wait that almost put me to sleep. The neck, shoulder, and hand massage followed. As she worked her way down my hands, she got all the wax removed from them as well. She did a quick styling of my hair, and we were good to go. Up front, Garrett took care of a touch up shoe shine. I'd had my boots shined a couple of weeks ago, and they were still in pretty good shape, but he did a great job going over them, removing the remaining shine, and replacing it with a full job. I don't think this was part of the seven course deal, but rather something included since they had an opening special going on. Altogether, the staff is very friendly, goes out of their way to get to know you, and the service is superb. At several points, they referenced the membership and it seems to be the main way they operate-- with people paying a monthly fee to come in a certain number of times a month for cuts and other services. The only knocks on this place have to be the location and the pricing. The Galleria area makes sense for such a high end operation, but traffic on 610 makes it prohibitive to come here regularly. They are looking to open more locations, including one in CityCentre, so I may end up frequenting that one. Also, the $55/$65/$85 price points are a lot more than I'm used to paying for a hair cut, even with the amazing additional services. For those who can afford it, I'm sure it's worth it, but until I'm some kind of oil/financial CEO, I'll settle for keeping visits to special occasions. read more

I just left this place and would not recommend it to anyone getting a shoe shine. The cashier is the one that gave me the shoe shine. I have to say it may be the worst shoe sign ever received. read more

First time visiting and I botched my appointment. Showing up a whole day early, Juan immediately went to work to quickly accommodate me despite my silly error. I'm doing so, I'm honored to have met Rose and Kee'asia; two ladies that are both on a different level in their craft! I'll definitely be coming back so they can keep this ol' noggin and face looking good. read more

I have a membership here; I go to Jordyn every week. The place is clean, fancy, has great service and an inviting vibe. Lots of products to choose from, great selection of services and packages as well. Everyone is warm and inviting; communication is great. Wow, what a nice experience! After receiving a certificate for a 7 course service through a fundraising silent auction, I made an appointment and was very impressed with the whole process. After starting with a very tasty adult beverage, I was given a tour and introduced to my stylist, Marissa. She took the time to find out how I wanted my hair cut and truly gave a quality cut. She was very friendly and personable. She also had a very nice touch with the other services - shampoo and scalp massage, facial refresher, neck/shoulder/hand massage, etc. When you add the hot towels and paraffin hand dip, it was amazingly relaxing. Top notch experience! I look forward to coming back! read more

I came here today for their 3 course offering. This service comes with of course a cut, shampoo and conditioning, along with a hot towel, shoe shine, and up to two alcoholic beverages. I carpooled with another individual and his appointment was right before mines, so I was able to enjoy their lounge while awaiting my turn. The lounge comes with a large screen TV with sports and I enjoyed a whiskey on the rocks. My phone was at less than 10% and I was lucky enough to take advantage of their phone chargers. Once it was my turn for the cut, it was a great experience with Meagan, she gave me a marvelous cut, with very good conversation. The towel service that following the cut was very relaxing. I was on my lunch break, but I wanted to take a nap! While, I was getting my haircut, you can have your shoes shined. So that after you have your hair styled your shoes are ready to be picked up. Overall, I loved everything about the Gents place, it's the male spa/barber, where you can get away and just enjoy what generally is a very mundane task. read more

It gets one star because the steps you have to go through to get an appointment is just too much. All to capture your name and phone#, email -- of which I got half a dozen and then hung up. You can't make an appt. direct with the location -- who needs all this for a haircut and shave? read more

I received a free pass and had a really good first experience. Great cut and wash, great service, cold beer. I purchased a membership. It went south immediately. On my first membership appointment, I had problems. They didn't call me to confirm, my appointment was moved and they only had 15 mins to give me a quick cut. They apparently called the wrong person to confirm my appointment, my profile was mixed up with someone else's. Second appointment, same exact thing. I did not receive a call or email to confirm. My appointment was cancelled. I cancelled my membership. I'll call it a loss on the first month. Customer service was super nice. My total membership can be summed up as one great 15 min haircut and about 30 mins of headaches on the phone. read more

I walked through the door and felt completely relaxed. They welcomed me warmly with a cup of black coffee, then sat me down and beautiful leather chairs. The front desk lady took me on a tour of the facilities and showed me what was going to be happening today. If you go I would strongly recommend having Anthony Cook do your services. He was warm and kind, but also professional and efficient. You could tell that he had done this 1000 times before, but made you feel important while you're in the chair. I cannot recommend this more strongly. read more

I always look forward to my upcoming appointments with Sue and the staff at The Gents Place. From the moment you walk in you're treated like a guest and offered a beverage of your choice (and not just a light beer like most places -- Johnnie Walker Black is my go-to). Sue is personable, funny, engaging and most importantly, does a fantastic job at delivering a great haircut. She takes her time with you every time and makes you feel like you're her only client. I signed up for the annual pass -- I figured with what I spend on haircuts anyway, the complementary beverages and shoe shines were just icing on the cake. Went with what they call the 3-Course package and have twice splurged for the 5-Course. So relaxing and rejuvenating. The entire staff is extremely attentive and accommodating and the focus on customer service obviously starts at the top. The owner, Jeff, stepped up when a third-party affiliate was having issues with a promotion -- totally out of his control but he took care of his customer. Go see Sue at The Gents Place. Seriously. read more

If you want a good haircut, this is not the place to go. Always messing my shit up. Every time.

I started going to The Gents Place about 2 Haircuts ago. The location is ideal. Meagan cut my hair both times. After having met me only once, she remembered details about my life. She is personable and talented. I would go for the shampoo alone. It is clean and guy-ish all the way. Juan, one of the owners, was there last time i was there. He completes the professionalism picture. I think they have a long time customer. read more

Well, I really didn't think my haircut could get any more pampering (or expensive for that matter) than it was before, but's congrats Gents Place....you've done it. In 6 years in Houston, I started at sports clips, moved to Boardroom, and now found my favorite spot! I didn't find it on my own, I have followed my favorite hair stylist from location to location, Sue, and she hasn't disappointed yet! The gents place is a little bit pricier than the Boardroom, but like they say, you get what you pay for. Great customer service, from booking, front desk, even the Shoe shine guy who was incredibly friendly. They have a full, complimentary, top-shelf bar to relax you even more while you sit in your 30min-60min of true bliss. I recommend at least trying the 7-course...more expensive but totally worth the value! It's my new place, and should be yours too. Be sure to ask for Sue if she's available (book ahead!)...but I know they have several talented stylists (including Jeanette who was a fav from my Rice Village BR). read more

This service definitely is the best service for a hair cut. The have a complementary bar at the entrance for you to choose. They the give you a small tour around the place showing you the different areas. In each step of the process the service is very good. Only down side is pricy, I guess service cost $$. For sure it's a place for a selected type of public. Very recommended. read more

Best haircut I ever received! This place is awesome for relaxing and soothing treatment after your hard day or week. I am so confused as to why all of these reviews are 5 star. Maybe it was just the barber Anthony that my husband went to. He asked if they cut coarse hair(black/african american) and they said yes, and the barber was black so I'm so surprised at how terrible it was. When he came home I could not even tell that he got his hair cut. 90 dollars for what. I understand the ambience and everything but you have to give a good hair cut as well. The focus should be a good hair cut first, not just a nice place to go and leave almost the same as you came in. So for black males with thick beards I would not go there for grooming services. read more
