This was my first time coming to Bishops and it won't be my last. I was growing my hair out to donate so it had been a long while since I had been to a salon. Emily was amazing. She knew exactly what to do for donation and was ready to prepare my hair. And I love my haircut. I haven't had shoulder length hair for about a decade, so I had no idea what to do with it. Ok, I don't really write to many reviews on Yelp but this was just ridiculous. I was on my lunch break going in for a fade clean up and this was the result I got. I have an hour lunch, and the picture on the left was what I got after an hour and 15 minutes In the barber chair. The picture on the right is the aftermath of another barber I had to pay to clean up the bowl cut fade I got from this place. Needless to say, it's the last time I'll be going there. TL;DR Great place to get a haircut. Affordable prices, beer while you wait, awesome atmosphere and great stylists. The long actual review. I have gotten my hair cut at bishops 5 times now (over a ten month period) and I must say this place rocks! I have shorter hair so this review is for the short cut and a beard trim. I have had two stylists Chloe H. and Linda S. and both stylists are phenomenal. Haircut: ($29) They both really take their time cutting your hair, and I must say I always leave Ioving my haircut. As someone with shorter hair blending and tapering are must! They always fine tune the overall cut to match your hair profile! Amazing! Beard trim: ($5) I cannot trim my beard to save my life and they always line it up and remove the split ends which I can never do accurately. They always clean up my beard and give me a shave. They always throw in a hot towel before the beard trimming which feels amazing! Atmosphere: They always offer me a beer upon arrival which is very considerate, and the music playing is typically mainstream electro-pop or hip-hop which to me is a plus! The energy is always high when you go in which is actually very calming since you feel a sort of comradery which you normally find in a barber shop. Bonus Perk: They offer a stamp card which is after your 10th haircut you get a free cut, which is great. Wait Time: I typically check in online and arrive 10 minutes early. I normally (4 out of 5 times) have no wait (I go on off-peak times) but one time (during peak hours) they were busy so I had to wait about 15 minutes after arrival, BUT I would rather go to a barber shop that has a wait then none. I got to do a walk in appointment on a Saturday afternoon, and Aaron on the phone was very friendly and efficient to set up my walk in appointment. I got my haircut with Megan, and she was very good at knowing what I want once I told her and did a really good job! She was fast but very on point. It's always hard for me to find people who know how to cut my hair even though my hair is short with an undercut. So I am very happy! The yelp checkin for a free shampoo is nice too. read more

New hair, who dis? Thank you to Sara for a major hair transformation! My hair was at a point where it was unmanageable. All I wanted to do was put all 10+ inches of my hair in a bun everyday. Before I came to Bishops, I had a grown out balayage that left my hair feeling like dry. I called Bishops for an appointment, told them I was looking to chop it all off and add subtle highlights. They paired me with Sara the day after. After meeting Sara and asking her if there's a way to lighten my hair without bleach, she worked her magic and here I am feeling free from untamed tresses with healthy hair! If you have that itch to change up your hair, do it and ask for Sara. I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

I want to first clarify that the 2 stars is for the technical skills, not customer service. I called in inquiring for someone who had expertise on cutting short hair. Instead of getting recommendation, I was told that all the hairstylist were great and you can't go wrong with any of them. So I booked an appointment with someone that was available during for my time. Courtney was the hairstylist that helped me. She was nice, friendly and respectful. I have her picture reference and general direction of what I wanted the haircut end up looking like. The one downside was that she would ask me many technical questions that I didn't have knowledge on, so I would reverse the question back to her and said, "Can you give me your professional advice?" She would tell me that it's up to me what I feel like it. Without getting constructive feedback, I answered her the best that I could. When I pointed out where I wanted my cut to roughly end up at, she immediately made her first cut to that final length which shocked me because my previous experience with hairstylist was that they worked their way slowly to the length in order to leave some room for error. Well, things turned bad as I thought. The even cut from the front to the back came out shorter than I wanted (as she made more trims after blow drying my hair). Something about it just didn't feel right but I couldn't tell as my hair was blown to a curve shape. After washing my hair and straightening it, I felt that the back of my hair didn't seem even to the front but I couldn't see it clearly. Now that my hair has grown out a little more in 2-3 weeks, it's clear that the cut was very crooked. If you ask me why I didn't go back to get it fixed, it's because I'm afraid that my hair will be cut even shorter still being uneven. My hair is already close to my ears and I don't plan to have a pixie hair. I went to a different salon to get it cleaned up and the hairstylist asked me if I had my sister cut my hair. I said no. He followed by asking if I cut my own hair because it looks horrible. I didn't want to explain much after that. I'll just let the picture speak of itself. What bums me is that I spent about $40 (tips included) for an above shoulder haircut but I had to spend more money after to get it fixed. read more

I've followed Priscilla to this shop from my previous shop because she is hands down the best barber I've ever had. It's tough to find a reliable barber let alone one as talented as Priscilla. She personable, funny and lovable, but no nonsense when it comes to cutting a mean zero fade or a precision hard part. I'm particular about my hair with attention to detail and she never disappoints. Ive searched to find my barber as I'm there on the dot every two weeks and I can't recommend her enough! Priscilla also cuts my son's hair and he's a little stud after every cut. If you're looking for THE barber to go to, do yourself a favor and head over to Bishops and find Priscilla. The shop itself has a great atmosphere, fresh and airy and ultra cool vibe. WOW! Amazing place! I had a coupon to get a free haircut at this location, and this place has been on my radar since the shopping center across from UCI also has a location. When coming into the shop, they greeted me right away. No appointment is needed, though you might have to wait longer, especially if you have someone in mind. I had the pleasure of having Marina as my stylist. She took the time to figure out what color dye I wanted, to mix colors when she didn't have the exact one I wanted, put it on. She was friendly, bubbly, and seemed interested in getting to know me. While that is not everyone's cup of tea when getting their hair done, and usually not something I am interested in either, it was something I appreciated. The salon is not a place where they quickly cut your hair and kick you out. They take their time with washing your hair, making sure you're fine throughout the process, and changing anything. Pros: Prices are decent; $35 for a women's haircut, $65+ for a dye job (I ended up paying $80 for my hair with the free cut). Friendly staff. Pretty decent music (they seem to be playing Spotify so not what is typically on the radio). The company as a whole prides themselves in being open and welcoming of EVERYONE. This is a place to come if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community because they will not judge you, and make you feel like your best self. Especially if you are younger! There was people of all ages in this shop. Cons: The parking sucks. I heard it's better during the weekdays, but Friday and the weekends are harder to find spots. Stefanie is the BEST barber ever! I've been getting my hair cut from her for a few years now and refuse to go to anyone else! Now that she's at Bishops I drive all the way down from Burbank just for her because nobody's cuts are even close! Before I started going to Stefanie I tried so many other barbers and they rush you in and out and quickly run the clippers over your head, and worst of all I'd usually end up with a crooked or unfinished looking cut, but Stefanie takes her time with both scissors and clippers making sure everything is done right. I'm always so impressed with her attention to detail and the quality of her cuts, and you can tell she has a genuine passion for the craft. Plus, she's just an awesome person, caring and fun to talk to, and super-talented! Thank you for always taking such great care of me Stefanie, you know I'll be back soon! My daughter wanted to change her hair color. She went in and initially got a consult with Jenna. She was told that there were several options she could chose from and that processing for her hair would not be charged (in general they do not charge for processing time Jenna said). She had several conversations with Jenna after her consultation and showed Jenna pictures of the color she wanted. Jenna quoted her $260. My daughter went in several days later to get her hair colored. The end result was a charge of close to $400 with red/orange hair undertone (which she was adamant that she didn't want). She reached out to Jenna to see how it could be remedied and was told that she needed to contact the store manager. The next day my daughter contacted the store manager, Sandra who told her that she was there the whole time and Jenna did the best she could. Sandra stated she can come in and for another $500 she could get it corrected. This is absolutely absurd. Very unprofessional and unexpected from a manager to try to skim more money from a 17year old who initially showed the stylist what she wanted. I am disappointed in Bishops. Had higher expectations from the manager and company. It is unfortunate that customer service is not their top priority. Updated review: After I posted my review, in less than 24 hours, Sabra the General Manager of two of the Bishops stores including this one reached out to me and my daughter. She was very empathetic and wanted to hear the story from our side. Both my daughter and I spoke with her and described in detail what happened. She did say she saw before and after pictures and was sorry we did not have a good experience with the store or the hairstylist. She was out of town when this experience took place. She listened to us, described the process of removing color & reapplying color, and offered for my daughter to come in so she could correct the coloring. However my daughter had redone the coloring on her own over the weekend and told her so. Sabra then offered a refund to the visit. I am impressed with Sabra's skills as a manager. She was very professional and collected. She knew how to talk to her customer, explain the situation and offer a remedy. She definitely encompasses upper level management skills. This was 2nd visit since COVID and we felt safe and well taken care of both times. They are taking necessary precautions like taking your temperature, asking if you have been traveling outside of CA within 2 weeks, requiring masks and providing social distancing. This is my go-to hair salon for how inclusive and welcoming it is! The COVID precautions Bishops follows make me feel comfortable getting my haircut. Emily Taylor cut my hair and was incredible because she pays close attention to detail to make sure the haircut ends up amazing. She also has a tasteful selection of pictures on her station's mirror. Even though I don't have a lot of savings as a college student, I want to give her all of my money because that is how legendary she is. It doesn't matter that I'd be penniless because I'd have a killer haircut. I book a consultation online for thurs 4/11. not only do I wait probably like 15-20 mins past my consultation time, I'm not even helped by the hairdresser that I booked. They quote me 250 for what I want done I make the appointment for 4/13 with Rebecca. Rebecca had just walked in and was absolutely done for the day. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALLL. No greeting, no what are we getting done today, no excitement at all, honestly just seemed plain rude. keep in mind that my appointment was at 9am I show Rebecca the exact same pictures I showed the consultant and she quoted me at 450$ she could go as low as 400$ like thats a steal. I don't mind paying but don't waste my time. If I had known during the consultation I either wouldn't have booked or would have booked knowing that I'm going to be spending 450$. Waste of my time to show up to a consultation and then show up for an appointment where the customer feels like they're being price gouged. read more

I still highly recommend Linda and Bishops and will continue to book here. I have to bump my rating from a 5 to 4 for two reasons: 1. Booking online isn't great. It's clunky, especially if you have more than 1 person going for an appointment. I can never remember the name of the booking system, so it's always a process to go back and look up the appointments. I've used better tools, so it's disappointing. I prefer to book online, so I am happy there is an option. 2. I wish the computer stored preferred pronouns or preferred pronouns were asked, as the stylist knows but not the front desk unless they're corrected. Some assumptions going on here as well. Varies depending on person working. You're assuming. I'm correcting. There has to be a better way. I'll probably regret this later when I can't Get my kiddo an appointment, but, seriously, all the stars for Linda. My kiddo loves the cuts they get from Linda.
