I asked for a straight two inch trim. Nothing fancy, but I still ended up with uneven hair. The left side is definitely longer than the right and most of the hair just doesn't line up. My hair stylist didn't even thin out the bottom, so it had that super thick, freshly cut look on the bottom. After the trim, I had to tell her to trim my face framing pieces too (I already had them), because it didn't seem like the hairstylist was going to trim it originally. But then instead of a straight across cut to shorten it, she added more hair from the side and cut it diagonally. And those are uneven too. There was a 5 second "head massage" that I thought was just the shampooing session. After the wash, she attempted to blow dry my hair for 5 minutes with the weakest blow dryer I've ever felt. Think hotel hair dryer. After 5 minutes drying, she asked if this is good enough or if I want to keep going... keep in mind, I have long hair--my hair was still very wet. I've never been asked that at a salon before. Why would you ask if I want to leave with wet hair? At that point, I thought I might as well go home and blow dry my own hair since I live 5 minutes away. Even though she is listed as a hair pro on the website, my hair stylist felt like an amateur. She was not confident in her skills. I'm sure it's not intentional, but the skill level is just not there. I would not recommend this place. Well I got there early and the stylist was 20 minutes late and basically shooed me away and said it would be really expensive and to msg her on Instagram when Id made up my mind because I didnt have an idea of what to get. Well no duh, Ive literally never done hair dye before and my hair texture gives me a lot of trouble when I find styles that look good on other people but dont look good on me. I had a 3:00pm appointment at Bishops Cuts/Color that I paid $30 to take an Uber to. When I got there the stylists Marina had a negative attitude towards me. I told her that I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and that I am super open. Hoping that she would be able to help me decide. She told me that she doesn't sense that I have any confidence in her and that I should wait until I know what I want. Also, when I booked the appointment online it said it would be $113. She told me that was a base price and that is where it starts. That is not what it said online. Basically she was saying that she was not going to do my hair. I went out there and spent the money on Uber for no reason. I was very upset. Response to owner's comment: Your comment is as unprofessional as your stylists are. I know how al la carte works. Your business fails to mention the fact that the price it is displaying for your appointment is al la carte. Maybe you should fix that and there would be less confusion. Also, hire stylists that want to work with your clients to help them decide what to do with their hair. Your loosing money. It is not surprising though considering you did not even apologize for the incident. Not only that but then comment acting like I was the one in the wrong. Didn't anyone ever teach you- the customer is always right. I'll take my money elsewhere and I highly suggest anyone else considering Bishops cut/color, do the same. Narina was lovely, I've tried out multiple Bishops prior to this visit and it's usually my go-to place to get a hair cut since the experience is pretty consistent. I hated the experience. I have booked a slot (for 2 people) in advance however due to some emergency I had to push my appointment by 10mins. (Which I have informed over a call that morning) When we reached, the receptionist was SUPER moody however we noticed there was just one customer. First off I need to say it had been a few years since I had my hair styled and I have a bit of a handicap and walk with a cane so going to new places sometimes intimidates me and I need to check the location/pics online so I know what to expect. It's okay if you are just looking for a buzz cut but otherwise skip it. About $50 for a men's short cut. I remember when before they were full on corporate and Bishop's charged $26 and the stylists are all trained personally by the owners of the company. For $50 they cut my hair but did absolutely no blending. Looked great for a day but looks like crap now. I could have paid $8 for this same haircut at Great Clips. All you are paying for is the atmosphere which is kind of lacking due to Covid. And you will never see the same stylist twice as the turnover is through the roof. I went in on a Monday afternoon, after checking in online, and was seated right away. Grace was awesome - looking at my inspiration photos (one of which was a screenshot of my favorite web comic, and she didn't even act like that was w!) and got to work. My hair went from mid-back to a stacked bob, and I love it! She helped bring out my natural wave, and showed me how to style it. She used some products she loves, without pressuring me into buying anything (I'm pretty picky about what products I pick out, but I'm willing to try anything!) As soon as I walked in, I checked in on the computer and was seated within 5 minutes. There's also a virtual check in service that creates an online queue if that's what you prefer. My stylist, Ashlye, was the best! Very engaging and excited about getting to know you. She listened to my requests and answered all of my questions and concerns! Even after she cut my hair to an initial length, I found that I actually wanted it shorter and she quickly fixed it up in no time! This was my second time at Bishops and, once again, it did not disappoint! Sadly the girl who cut my hair last time is no longer here BUT thankfully I found Marina and she was absolutely amazing. I haven't had bangs since 2nd grade but I was looking to change things up, I blindly trusted her with my hair and I am SO happy with the results! I was a bit hesitant to return for another trim but I had an important event I needed my hair to look good for so did. Attention to detail is the name of the game. While this place is a bit on the expensive side, I believe it is absolutely worth it. I usually cut my own hair, but I had to make a flight to LA and had been busy so came here for a trim up of the sides. When I signed in, there was only an option for short cut that applied to me so I chose that. After explaining what I wanted, the lady changed it to a cheaper trim up version at check out. Forgot how much it costed, but it was nice there was a price adjustment. The second time I came here for a full short cut. Both times, the stylists took ample time with so much attention to all the small things that I can't normally do myself when I give myself a haircut. So let me start off by saying that I haven't cut my hair in 2 years because I've always had a bad experience. The hairstylists always either cut off too much or just did a plain bad job and I was never satisfied. Today I took a chance because my friend was getting her nails done at a nail salon around the corner and I just didn't want to sit around. She recommended I have Ashlye cut my hair. When it was my turn I was greeted by Ashlye with a very warm welcome. She asked me what I wanted to do and I told her layers and a lot of them. She delivered and oh my god this was the best haircut experience I've had in a really really long time. My hair now has life, my split ends are gone, and there is sooo much movement. I can't believe all the positive reviews on here. I had the worst haircut of my life here in August 2018. I had been growing out my hair for ages and decided to get it cut here as it's convenient to my home and cheap and there were so many positive reviews. But I should have known better. I can't remember the name of my stylist now, but she was super sweet and friendly and I made the mistake of trusting her with my long, thin, fine hair. I just wanted to trim off the split ends and clean it up a bit. I asked for long layers but not too much off. We had a pleasant appointment. She was chatty and talking with me and her friends who were closing up (looking back she might have been distracted and the light was maybe poor in the evening?? I don't know). When she was finished I didn't realize that anything had gone wrong with the cut. It wasn't my favorite, but it didn't look outright wrong. The next morning however my boyfriend looked at me and kind of hesitatingly said "...What happened to your hair?" I checked the back in the mirror and was floored. It was so choppy and cut at an angle. My whole head was lopsided and the layers were so, so short. I have straight hair that shows every snip with any cut I get, but this was next level. My hair has never looked worse. I went back the next morning completely embarrassed by the cut. I asked to see a manager, the manager was busy. I came back later and the girl from the night before saw me/may have been the manager herself I'm not sure. But I pointed out the issues and she genuinely seemed wanted to fix it. I let her and it did turn out slightly better, at least not lopsided. But what was supposed to be a trim of about an inch took more like 4 inches off and I have been waiting about a year for those bad layers to grow out. Realistically, I am sure I could go to any of the Bishop's locations but.... This one in particular is great. I have not received better service and better quality haircut anywhere else on the Eastside. The store manager, Ashleye, in particular is my go-to. She does an excellent job every single time and always provides good conversation during the haircut. It's very obvious that she takes the haircut very seriously in how meticulous she is. I have very dark, thick black hair and always get my hair cut as a "skin fade". I feel like a million bucks every time I leave here and I'm happy to tip way more than I would anywhere else because these folks do such a great job. Keep doing your thing, Bishops! Truly the worst customer experience I have had anywhere It was 100% clear that the lady had no enthusiasm to cut my hair, she didn't say a word and just pointed to the chair. I asked can I get my hair washed, she responded at the end, nothing else. I asked can I have long layers, no response. I sat there, I wanted to get up the whole time. Then without even showing me my finished cut, she told me "I wash your hair now". After washing, she brushed my hair, not facing the mirror and said we're done. I said can you dry my hair or can I borrow your hair dryer? The response was no it's against policy. I then asked how do I know if I like my hair cut?? Then she explained you can pay for styling. I just sat there in disbelief, then she brought the hair drier out for 2 minutes max, my hair still very wet. I thought wow she decided to be kind, and felt bad she was rude the whole time. I went to pay and she charged for the cut, wash and styling. At that point I had it, I said you never styled my hair. Her response, yes I did!! I said, sorry not paying for that part. Then she called over the manager after loudly saying she doesn't want to pay. I told the manager this was unfair and I never got styled, her response, umm can I feel your hair??!! WTF!! I let her touch my hair to see how wet it was and I said it's clear nothing has been done to my hair. After she lectured me about the styling process and i should pay, but she let it pass this time. I walked out crying and shaking. It is clear that that place only likes to cut men's hair, they are unprofessional, the hair stylist discriminated again me because I was of a different ethnicity and not a man and to top it off, when she finished my hair, I said nothing about the cut and she said well you can't tell if you hair cut is nice, your hair too highly processed It's passed upset I'm taking legal action. read more
