It looks like this place has changed hands once again and the menu no longer says Biryani Xpress and the menu has changed. We came here weekly when it was Mylapore and loved that it was a Veg restaurant as we are vegan. Then it changed to Biryani Xpress and added meat and was a more familiar menu to Westerners but still had Idly and items we could order. The food was good tasting and the orders came out quickly. The menu has changed once again and the Idly is gone. We ordered dosas as most other food items have ghee or animal products. The dosas took an unusually long time to arrive at our table (almost 30 minutes). The sambar while tasty was thick and not the thin soup-like consistency. In the end, the dosa was not crispy and that was a great disappointment. It was difficult to figure out was food was vegan. The server would say the biriyani was ok to order and when questioned if it had ghee then she would say it did, and that is dairy and not vegan. We will no longer be coming here. read more

This place's food is ok but definitely not worth the price. They have a lot of items but nothing is made well, maybe because they try to do North Indian AND South Indian. The previous establishment that was here, Mylapore, was much better as they made South Indian food really well and didn't charge so much for it. The portions here are often small and lack consistency. The service is subpar, they make mistakes on the bill, you have to call them over multiple times to get service, and the manager is rude and treats customers without respect. We have been here multiple times and have never seen a positive interaction between him and customers. On one instance he yelled at a family at their table. There are several establishments with better quality Indian food and good service in the area, we will not be back. read more

Second time back in a week. This place does NOT miss. The quality of food here is the best around in a 10 mile radius and decently priced specials. I get the thali special. Sometimes veg only and sometimes non veg. It's a dinner tray with naan and always changing main items. EVERYTHING I've had each time is always so good. Also be patient with the staff, they aren't the best with English but always very sweet and really attentive. Will continue to come back for those specials. read more

Came here for biryani. It was delicious. I lived in Bangladesh for a few years and it was just like my housekeeper used to make :) service was excellent. The food was a bit on the spicy side for mild but it was fine for me since I usually ask for medium anyway. I wish they had egg biryani but the panned biryani was delicious! read more

This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in Roseville. Harjod was friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful. She needs a raise! The food was top notch. I got the lamb vindaloo, which was properly fiery with just the right amount of good heat and flavor for me, and the chicken korma, which was rich and tasty. The butter naan was perfect. The mango lassi was just the right thing to hit the spot after the vindaloo: the perfect antidote for the heat. The portions were generous and I had plenty to take home for leftovers. Even the basmati was fancy, with several different colors and enhanced with just a hint of spices. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes I saw on the menu! read more

Really enjoyed this restaurant! I've been here twice and the first time I had a dosa which was delicious and fresh. The second time I ordered chole bhature which came out piping hot and fresh. They could have served more chole with the dish but it was fine. They also offer a variety of sweets at the front as well. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, it made the dining experience wonderful. Definitely recommend! read more

Went today for the dosa happy hour, and it was absolutely delicious. I had a butter masala dosa with onions. I didn't get a picture because I ate it too quickly. I do wish they had the dosa special for takeout. I would've bought several more to take home to my family. It was not spicy at all, and the dosa was super crispy and tasty. We have been back Three times since the original review. Working through the menu. Everything we have ordered is outstanding! It will take a number of visits to complete the exploration! It was hardly any nice piece of chicken. There's an egg in the chicken biryani Seems that the chicken was on a diet for about a couple of weeks before the cook met them. The bhatoora was awesome. Very strong asofateita aka hing in the curries. There's a line between being culturally relevant and over powered with spices. If people from your part of the world are having trouble I can't imagine the local people. read more
