We went to the school's Halloween festival where my son attends, and I was super excited to see a taco truck there. It was definitely a popular stop -- and I can see why! The food was delicious, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. The salsa, the consommé (so good!), and the birria itself were all amazing. The only thing that caught me off guard was the size of the tacos. I ordered three quesabirria tacos, and they were about the size of small street tacos. At $4.50 each, I was just expecting them to be a bit bigger. Another small detail -- I ordered kids' meals for my two little ones, which came with two carne asada tacos, beans, and rice. When we sat down to eat, we noticed both plates had double beans and no rice. One of my kids loves Spanish rice and doesn't care much for beans, so that was a little disappointing. It would've been great if someone had just mentioned they were out of rice so we weren't surprised. A quick heads-up goes a long way! We paid $60 dollars for just two of us which felt way over priced. We had to wait 40 minutes for our food, so we sat at an empty table and observed that there were so many dirty uncleaned tables around us, this grossed us out and decided to take our food to go. Once we got home we were stunned to find our food deconstructed... Ordered 6 taco and 1 plate took about 40 min to come out . Wasn't busy enough to take that long, especially in the la quinta location. Its a food truck not a restaurant, fast pick up is key. Got home and found an incomplete ordered, with missing set ups for my tacos and my tortillas for my plate. Such a rip-off, and it is kind of unbelievable that the City of La Quinta council would allow food trucks across the street from Stufts, or all the other vetted, legitimate long-time restaurants in Old Town who go through rigorous health inspections before serving the public. Sinaloa often seeds the picnic tables with friends and family to give the public the impression that people frequent this food truck business. This also marks the first time in La Quinta the city council is allowing flashing, neon signs. Somebody must know somebody on the city council. This food truck business also presents a safety hazard in a congested intersection with two cross walks. If you want to pay too much for your food of questionable origin and preparation, as opposed to eating in well-known establishments that have proven their worth, then it's your gamble, but don't forget to pick-up some Pepto on the way home! read more
