This place got so much hype a couple years ago and I finally made my way out here. I just happened to be in the area with friends so we thought we should stop by. We came by on a Friday evening around 7PM and it was honestly kind of empty which I found shocking. Its fast casual so order at a counter and then bring it to your seat. I ordered the birria tacos and the dipping trio. The dipping was delish, queso was great and so was the guac and the salsa was good too! Then the birria tacos came actually came with some chips as well. The tacos were pretty tasty but I honestly though it was a little expensive for 2 quesabirrias. Overall food was good but I thought it was pricey. read more

Birria el Gordo - Tacos Near Me - Marietta, Georgia

Hands-down, one of my favorite taco places Marietta. I've been here so many times is ridiculous lol The Tacos Gobernador are a must-try: perfectly cooked shrimp folded into a cheesy, savory taco that hits every note rich, smoky, and satisfying. You can tell the ingredients are top-notch and freshly prepared. The menu is impressively big, with plenty of variety for every craving from classic birria tacos to creative twists and refreshing fresh juices that make the perfect pairing. read more

Food was good. The birria wasn't as Birria as it has been in the past. Service is always 10/10! The ambiance is a nice little spot in a neighborhood. I have to drive a distance to visit. But it's worth it! The nice lady with the "tattoos" makes some mean mix drinks. They are so refreshing. Ask her to create you something freshly blended I get the same thing each time They have cut back on the chips too They're so fresh too read more

Birria el Gordo - vegan & steak tacos - Tacos Near Me - Marietta, Georgia

Great option for birria tacos! They have a variety of meat options from chicken to goat & even a vegan birria made with jackfruit. You order with the cashier & are given a buzzard. There's plenty of seating - circle & round table four tops. A variety of Spanish music playing but not to loud. Free parking available in lot. I visited on a rainy Friday night so it wasn't packed. I had the birria combo (#1) - 3 birria tacos (2 beef, 1 vegan) that came with chips and also added a beef mulita. Everything was made fresh to order, the birria & mulita shells had a nice, fresh out the grease crunch. Beef birria & mulita were awesome! The vegan one was ok, I like the vegan birria at Calaveritas better. Consome wasn't as rich & flavorful as I've had at other places, more watered down. I say this bc usually eat the consome on its own when I finish my tacos but I barely used this one for dipping. But at least they don't charge extra for the consome, comes with the combo. They have a fresh salsa bar, water w/cups, Togo boxes and bags to use that at your convenience. They also have a variety of agua frescas - I had the horchata which was good! Next time I came I'll try a margarita or Paloma. Def recommend this place! read more

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now because I've heard such good things so I'm glad I finally got to go! The restaurant is very large, lots of open space and definitely a no frills type of place. You order at the counter. The person who took our order was really nice and answered any questions we had. I think it's cool that you can choose between goat, beef, and chicken for your birria meat. Beef is usually the default. I opted for the goat because you can't get that in a lot of places. I also got consomme with my tacos. My favorite thing about this place though was the salsa bar for sure. There was a green salsa there that I could not get enough of, I swear I could've drank it because it was so delicious! The food took a little bit to come out. But not a ridiculously long time. The tacos were absolutely delicious. So tasty! I liked the consommé a lot as well. I think it could've been warmer, it was a little on the lukewarm side in my opinion. But they give plenty and I took the rest home and added water and had it as a soup haha. Would love to come back and try their birria ramen because I did see that on the menu! Overall, great restaurant and would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some good birria tacos! read more

Birria Tacos! The fruit drinks are refreshing and FRESH. This place is a go to when you are hungry and want a definite good meal experience. So glad we tried this spot. The quesabirria tacos were outstanding. Crispy, flavorful, and cheesy. Everything you want in a taco. The consommé was tasty too. I ordered the #1 that comes with two tacos, consommé, and chips. I added an extra taco bc I was really hungry, but tbh it was almost too much food lol. They have a salsa bar, so you can load up with different salsas, pickled carrots, jalapeños, and limes. They were kind of busy, but service was relatively quick. We only waited about 10 minutes for our food. The aqua fresca is yummy too. I order the piña, which complimented the tacos perfectly. Glad we tried this place, looking forward to going back soon. read more

Great birria tacos in an off the beaten path place. Plenty of seating and a little toppings bar if you want some extra heat. The drinks and desserts are great too, and this place is family friendly. Try the birria pizza if you've got a big appetite. You won't be disappointed. It is not a full service restaurant, you order and pickup at the counter. read more

I came here at the suggestion of one of my friends, and let me just tell you that the drive over there is so well worth it if you live a ways away from Smyrna. I ordered the combo #1 with mulitas. I got goat for the quesabirrias and beef for the mulitas. Now when I tell you I inhaled everything!! The quesabirrias were so deliciously cheesy, and the meat was so incredibly tender! The beef in the mulitas were so incredibly seasoned and well cooked, and I thoroughly enjoyed the crunch of the two tortillas. I definitely plan on only getting the beef next time because the seasonings were simply outstanding for that meat (not that the goat was bad, but the beef was something else entirely). Even my friend that always ordered chicken soleley gets the beef because it's that good! The only thing that was a bit of a bummer is that they weren't able to make any of the cocktail drinks on their menu so we got a frozen margarita. It was really delicious at least! All in all, this is definitely a place that I will happily make the drive to get more of those quesabirria tacos!! read more

I wasn't impressed birria quesadilla was bland , elote corn was inedible. I had very high hopes but was super disappointed.

This was my second time here but this time it was not that great They usually have green limes ‍ available this time they didn't have that available and I can't eat with out having limes on my food so that was a thumbs down for me and the consome was not well seasoned it tasted like water read more

Mannn oh mann.. i wish this location wasn't so far from me! Probably a good thing if i want to keep my figure (chuckles) Outside looks kinda sketchy, not gonna lie. BUT Inside, they have a bunch of tables, where you self seat, as well as a outdoor deck. *VIBE/SERVICE* You pretty much walk up and order. They have the menu on some huge TV screens with soo much amazing things to choose from. I thought i was gonna only be slightly full with the combo #1, WRONG, i was actually super full and bloated after, nap ready!! The ladies working were so kind and sweet. Wonderful service!! (note) after you order your food, they give you a buzz beeper thing. make sure you bring it with you when you pick up your food! *FOOD* Sauce Bar - loaded with all you can think of! I took full advantage of the fresh, crisp, and crunchy Pico, as well as the *EXTRA HOT* sauce, which was not that spicy! I also liked that they had togo boxes ready on the side, so you dont have to bother the staff. COMBO #1 Beef Birria - Super yummy. cheesy, tons of flavor. I liked this one the best Chicken Birria - Also amazing, crispy torilla. Consume - this soup was so perfectly seasoned, slithers of beef at the bottom of the bowl.. Chips - also seasoned!! generous portion with the meal. get some pico and go ham! **DRINKS** Pina colada with alcohol really *hit the spot* !!! Normally there is that slightly, processed, or fake pineapple taste but NOT HERE!! this tasted so refreshing and perfect balance of flavor and alcohol, since I was driving AND I truly can't drink like i used to, i could only have one! MUST ORDER! -OVERALL- the hype is real about this place, and im coming back AND i should of ordered some food togo. read more

Hey Now, Finally If you've seen my other post regarding Mexican food then you know I've been on the hunt since I've stepped foot in GA. And I've had no luck with the places I've tried. But Burris el Gordo had such good reviews and the pictures looked right. I was not disappointed in the least. We went on a Friday late afternoon only 1 group ahead of us. Ordering was quick the food came out timely, it was hot and fresh. Everybody enjoyed their dish. I got the chicken birria tacos, the kids got beef and I brought an order back for a friend she loved it as well. The space is huge and has many tables and the inside is decorated nicely as well. There is a salsa bar to the side and I really loved that they had one ! All of the sauces are labeled (hot, hottest). We got the Birria tacos (number 1) and quesadillas (number 3) from the menu. The birrias were flavorful and juicy. Also really loved the quesadillas! You get a choice of meat and we went with beef for both. Each order also comes with chips and consume. The consume was salty but still tasty. I also got the mango agua loca and it was amazing. Fruity, sweet and salty. Loved the tajin on the rim. Overall, a great lowkey place for some tacos. read more

We were there early on a Saturday and there was no wait to order. So you go in, place your order and wait briefly for your food to come up. This was my second time coming here but it's been a few years. Unfortunately the AC seemed broken when we came today, so it was a bit uncomfortable given how hot it is outside. As for the food, we got 2 Birria tacos with shredded beef, 2 Birria tacos with steak, the loaded fries with shredded beef, churros, and Agra Fresca. The Birria tacos and consume were okay, they didn't really have as much flavor. It was definitely better the last time I came. We preferred the steak tacos over the shredded beef. The loaded fries were so yummy, I would recommend getting steak instead of the shredded beef though. The churros were yummy, with a super tasty dulce dipping sauce on the side. We got the pineapple agua Fresca and it was refreshing. Overall it was good but not blown away like I was last time. Likely wouldnt go out of our way to visit again but worth it if you're in the area. read more

We don't have authentic birria tacos where I'm from so when visiting my sister in Atlanta, she brought me to Birria el Gordo for my first experience. I got a goat, jackfruit and beef birria taco with goat consommé. My goat one was the best, with the jackfruit a close second. The consommé had a lot of meat that almost made it a meal by itself. The taco shell was crunchy to be able to withstand dipping and all three had plenty of meat. Worth the drive to try them out. read more

Pretty sure Birria el Gordo hyped up the birria taco trend in Atlanta in 2020. Once again, always years behind on the food trend, but I'm just grateful we finally got it. When I visited, they were only open weekends - so we came on a Sunday late afternoon and the line wasn't awful. Not great but bearable. It gave us time to decide what to order. We ended up trying the birria (duh) tacos and a vampiro. And of course from the secret menu, the birria ramen. There are combos available so we ordered combo #2, which came with a vampiro, one taco, and one taco dorado. Everything was super tasty - will have to try the quesatacos and mulita next time. Prices aren't super cheap but definitely worth it. One thing is I don't recommend taking the birria ramen to go. The ramen noodles soak up ALL of the consome, which... while it is tasty, makes for some soggy noodles. Make sure to ask if they can separate the noodles and the broth if ordering takeout. There are quite a few restaurants in Atlanta now catching up to the Birria Taco food trend - so Burria el Gordo has their work cut out for them. However, I do believe they're the only one in the area known for their Birria tacos. This location's a little far for me, but with their newly expanded hours, here's to hoping I make another visit soon. read more

I am convinced that tacos are a happy food. Have you ever eaten a taco and not felt happy? I was very excited that my husband found this spot for us to try and was even more excited that it will be a repeat indulgence. The restaurant itself is open, bright and cheery the staff were cheery and very nice! I had the beef quesabirria tacos and they were just as perfect as I had envisioned. The flavor was incredible and the consommé was just good for the soul. You can add some spice with the variety of yummy salsas from their salsa bar. The salsas had a great punch of flavor that were a fun addition to the already delicious happy tacos. The margarita was delish and had the perfect amount of everything. I would give this place negative 5 stars is I could. My biggest issue besides the lack of flavor was the HAIR, that was found in my Quesadilla taco!!!! After my third bite of the taco, I discovered the hair. Couldn't finish my meal and threw it at away. From the few bites that I did have, the food lacked flavor and presentation. I've been going to this place for about 6 months now. It was my "go to" for Birria tacos. This establishment is located in a gas station so nothing fancy BUT their food made up for the ambiance! The service is always quick & they are always friendly. The best part was their consume'... So rich in flavor and filled with stock from the meat. NOT ANYMORE!!!!! Either they have new management, a new cook, or just stretching out a dollar by adding water (or whatever they decided to use) to the consume'....The Nerve!! I will preface by saying I ordered from Uber Eats, so a couple of the issues would not necessarily have been an issue if I had been there in person. I ordered the quesabirria taco meal (combo 1). This is advertised as coming with salsa and a salsa selection was required - no salsa was provided. Additionally, I ordered the trio of drips (guacamole, salsa, and queso) - only the queso was provided. I got the second issue cleared up with Uber Eats, but I was bummed because I wanted some guacamole. Oh well. The quesabirria tacos were okay. I personally thought they were lacking a bit in flavor compared to the other similar ones I've had in the past. I also had the esquites. This was my favorite dish that I ordered, flavorful and plenty. Overall, I think I would pass on this spot. I would definitely recommend that if you plan to go, go in person. I just would try to find a spot that had a bit more flavor. read more

I had to tell so many ppl that the line was closed and they gave me 10% military discount. I felt like a sucker. Where's my employee discount!!
