Wonderful, creative flavored chocolates! Lots of beautiful handcrafted options to choose from and you won't be disappointed. I'm not a huge chocolate lover but I still find things to enjoy. My only hold up with this place is that the space is too large and not well set up. You have to walk all the way along a counter to get to the chocolate case but then walk all the way back up front to check out. Additionally, there's not much decor. I was super impressed with this little place. They have a really nice selection of vegan chocolate and can even do a vegan hot chocolate (be careful suuuuuper rich, it's like liquified chocolate - it was like drinking right out of Willy Wonka's chocolate river). I got at least one of each of the vegan chocolates in the shelf (there was probably 1-3 I didn't take home with me) and I got a pistachio cherry chocolate bar and holiday graham crackers. Right as we were about to leave he told us that they were giving away free samples but they were actually full chocolate bars that were being discontinued! Super happy about this trip! The little chocolatier is located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, and has treats for all price points, many of which make great gifts, which is what brought me to this little shop. I randomly turned around and stopped at this place to get some chocolates for the wife. The guy there was so peppy and upbeat he made me smile and laugh even after my long hard day at work. He was very helpful in picking out just the right chocolates for my wife and even threw in a free sample for her and then on a whim he gave me a dark chocolate sample! I am not big on sweets but I must say i've tried some small bites and it is by far the best chocolate i've ever had! Well worth the stop and price, the wife loved them and I am very slowly nibbling on the dark chocolate, banana chip, sea salted and pretzel combo. It is actually VERY good! Don't waste you money on these chocolates. I've had better cheap chocolates from a department stores. The pictures they have online are NOTHING LIKE WHAT YOU GET. They are also very small. I have had department store chocolate and amazing top of the line chocolates from amazing chocolatiers. In most cases you get what you pay for. In this case....you get cheap chocolate quality for a mediocre price. There are much better chocolates for this price on the market. These were a gift and I don't want to hurt the feelings of the person who bought them so I decided not to tell him how bad these were...I just recommended some chocolates that are some of my favorites for the future. read more

Chatting with the pleasant attendant we opted for three 1oz squares of bark to sample their wares - dark chocolate almond, pistachio cherry, and white chocolate Oreo. Tasting each during the course of the hockey game I must say the pistachio cherry was unique while the others were rather standard. This store totally misses the mark. For instance, they "technically" make a chocolate birthday card. They "can" make a cute little birthday candy gift, with the little birthday card fitting in a space in a box and you fill the rest with individual items from the case. But, they don't display it. Once when I asked, they had a birthday chocolate in stock and begrudingly made up the box for me. But today I asked for one and was told it's special order. You don't even know it's available to order because they have no display of any such things. I can't imagine how they stay in business with an operation like this. What could be more logical or tempting than a fancy gift box of chocolates? Why do they make it so difficult? They don't have nice stuff gift-ready. They display a little brown box but you have to ask how much it costs and what in it. I literally went into the store today for a birthday gift of nice chocolate but left empty-handed. Let me start by saying that this place is worth every penny! I booked a Sweet Night Out event for part of my sisters bachelorette party last weekend - everyone LOVED IT! We were able to bring in our own food and drinks, and we started the night out with a chocolate champagne glass! From there we got to make our own chocolate bar, dip our own caramels and enjoy a chocolate tasting! Just when you think that was it - you get to pick out your own 9pc box of chocolate! Everyone was so happy with how much chocolate they got to take home! I would recommend this event for anyone looking for a unique way to mix up an event! read more

Yum! I am your typical girl. I can't throw a ball, I have a bathroom full of products and I love chocolate. So its no surprise that I totally ended up loving my experience at Schakolad/Birmingham Chocolate. I originally ended up here because my friend was throwing her little sister's bachelorette party; and I was the helper. I was the one to arrive early, decorate and to set up for the gaggle of girls that were coming. Birmingham chocolate will host all kinds of events, including girls' nights out, where the party gets to do a chocolate tasting, make their own chocolates and go home with a nine-piece truffle box (along with the chocolate that they made already). Throughout our whole event, the owner and his staff were very accommodating and gracious. They let us set up dinner, which we brought in, before any chocolate making and also allowed us to bring our own booze. A bottle of champs (served in chocolate rimmed glasses) was also included in their package, but that doesn't always go far with a bunch of celebrating ladies. Bring some extra if you are going to be partying here. The chocolate itself is pretty darn good. I really enjoyed the chocolate tasting, especially tasting all the darker chocolates, including cocoa nibs (which are bits of the pure cocoa pod roasted, and a bit nutty). We got to make a chocolate bar, which was fantastic...I made mine with dark chocolate and nibbled off it for days afterwards. The truffle box that I that I made up was equally as good. I really liked the chipolte and toasted coconut truffles. The chocolate covered caramels are another win. I will admit that I do prefer their darker chocolate ten times more than their milk chocolate. I can totally skip the white chocolate, but I've never been a white chocolate fan so I guess I'm not the best person to ask. Overall, the chocolate is pretty good...not the best I've ever had, but it makes a nice fancy alternative to Godiva or other expensive "gifty" chocolate brands. I definitely will return because the staff was super nice, the presentation is fantastic and because I know I can count on them to provide a welcoming and accommodating chocolate buying experience. read more

They have tons of chocolate and are famous for their truffles. They even have many chocolate drinks to choose from. I also suggest ordering and giving assorted boxes from here for any holiday.
