Yes, the decor may be a little tired but the chocolates I bought were great. Super fresh and the marshmallows melt in your mouth.

I enjoy finding hidden gems on Yelp. An excellent small business like Mrs. Mason's deserves more attention. Mrs. Mason's specializes in handmade premium brittle and brittle bonbons. The owner was the only person when I visited on a Sunday morning. She gave me samples, and everything I tried in Mrs. Mason's brittle and bonbon collection was delicious, crunchy, and buttery. I bought an 8 oz. gift box of Heart & Soul Brittle ($26.95) for my college professor. I also purchased an 8 oz. bag of Bare-Naked Cashew Brittle ($22.95) for my mom. They both thought the brittle was delicious. A bit pricey, but it makes an excellent gift for anyone who likes brittle or bonbons.

It will make any enemy a best friend after a bite or two of this brittle. The brittle has a nice thicker layer of the toffee, two layers of the white chocolate as well as the semi-sweet chocolate. It's a nice balance of crunchy hard toffee and melt in your mouth chocolates. Makes for a fantastic holiday gift and treat for friends and family alike. The smaller 4 ounce is great to accompany a charcuterie gift set or a stocking stuffer too.

The person helping us had the best energy and was really helpful and patient. Their positivity was contagious and it also felt sincere. The aesthetics here are very pleasant, pleasing, bright and colorful. They offer Homemade ice cream made into popsicle type treats, they also have soft serve, they offer non dairy items along with dairy and an array of dips and toppings. I got the watermelon non-dairy frozen soft serve with Dulce de leche and dark chocolate topping that hardens. I added a mango drizzle and it was magically delicious! There are tons of choices and I cannot wait to return to try other flavors and combinations.

There are shakes, soft serve options, customizable ice cream bars (what they are known for), sorbet and ice cream cakes. They also have hot pretzels if sugar is not your thing. I think I ordered wrong. I went with the Sweet and Salty, which is soft serve ice cream with a hard chocolate shell, pretzels, and potato chips. A couple of major design flaws on this - the shell was so hard that I could not get to the ice cream and the cup was so small that all of the toppings were falling off (onto the ground). That said, I would gladly return to try one of the customized ice cream bars. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

And also because of my anticipation, and inevitable disappointment. I have been staring at this exact place for over 8 years of my life, and never got to go. School always started and ended from 7:00am to 3:30pm, which also happens to be the opening and closing times of Elwin's bakery. And finally, on a half day and on my way to work, I stopped in a grabbed what I had time for. I got a Raspberry White Chocolate scone, and a Salted Caramel scone with a little drizzle of vanilla frosting. When I walked in, Elwin greeted me incredible warm, and we had a nice conversation about working in the service industry, despite our completely different tastes. Pizza and sweet scones? Not a HUGE difference, obviously. But this isn't about me, it's about beautiful Elwin. Oh Elwin I love you. I took them to work with me, and I will be 100% honest with you. They were LACKING in MULTIPLE flavor profiles. First of all, the "Raspberry" White Chocolate scone might've been the inspiration for those 1% sugar cereals our parents got us as a kid to "eat healthier". I would be shocked to find out this had any type of berry in it, let alone the Popeye's biscuit type of texture. It's like biting into a beachfront, and not in a good way. I'm trying to imply it's as dry as sand. The Salted Caramel one with the drizzle on it was much better though. But I will admit I really don't taste any of these flavors, at all. I mostly just taste biscuit bread with a little bit of a buttery kick, and I HATE things that are too dry, it ruins the whole experience. And sadly, these are some of the driest scones I've ever had before. Maybe I don't understand the food, hopefully when I get older. Not disrespect to Elwin, or my grandma (of course). One of the most beautiful and special places in all of Berkley in my opinion. I beg of you to AT LEAST try it, regardless of what I have to say about it. Elwin is truly a great guy and he deserves your money, your respect, and your opinion. If you are ever in Berkley in the morning and trying to get a cup of coffee and a bone-scone, come on over to Elwin & Co. It's not terrible. 3/5

It was dense, dry and tasted somewhat stale, with very little flavor or anything, especially no lemon flavor. Needless to say we won't be buying any other Elwin & Co products!
