I had to add this place to Yelp, that's how desperate I am to tell the world about how good this…read morewas. My special lady friend ordered a Peach Chicken dish that has changed how we look at food. I hate peaches, she hates chicken thighs, we both can't wait to order this again. And my god, the potatoes! Simply seasoned, and absolutely delicious! As an Irish person, I was 99% sure I had consumed potatoes every way imaginable, but apparently sobbing in my car because I don't have more was new to me. It's not traditional food truck food, and I like that! I can get reheated BBQ or microgreen salad sandwiches anywhere, this is food I would bring to a sick friend. Or a healthy one if it gets me more of those f#?&ing Potatoes!!!

This is a fairly new place as a brick and mortar, not sure if they have the food truck still or…read morenot. It is kinda a small space and we came about an hour before closing on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. There was one waitress/hostess for the whole floor. The place was set up nicely and painted with art on the wall and little decorations. The menu is fairly small. They have some cold salads, some all veggies and one with steak. The other entrees were shawarma, four chickens and one with ground beef, and one with sausage. The rest were veggies. They also have some apps. I got the shepherds mistake. It was cold mostly but some parts were a little warm. It would have been better hot. It was a white sweet potato base with ground beef and gravy. I wish it had had more flavor to it. Husband got the peach chicken with potatoes that were cooked with blsamic and thyme. I think they have a great concept just execution was lacking. They need more flavors/seasoning/sauces. I added some pictures of the menu since there were none yet.

First of all, shame on Yelp's listing system for not letting me list the Instagram account of this…read morebusiness as their website. So many foodtrucks use their IG or their FB to broadcast their locations, and many don't have a traditional dub-dub-dub website. Here's the good for KotM: FB: https://www.facebook.com/kingofthemountainak/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/kingofthemountainak/ I've been trying to get to this food truck for quite some time, but have never been able to catch them. I know the owner (Travis) from the climbing community, he's probably one of the most passionate, skilled ice climbers I know! In the non-climbing world, he's been the chef at various restaurants in the area (the first one the comes to mind is Seven Glaciers in Girdwood). He largely does events now (think: weddings, festivals, private events, etc.), and that's where I was able to catch him! Detour: as someone from the South, I am triggered by the careless use of the word "BBQ" outside of The South. When someone invites me over for a "BBQ" I expect that they've been smokin' meats (mainly pig) since 4am. When I just find burgers and hot dogs...I get sad. Back on track: I caught KotM at the Mountaineering Club of Alaska's annual Summer Cookout (bless your heart MCA, for not saying BBQ). But guess what? He MADE ACTUAL BBQ! There was tons of luscious, juicy pork with all the fixin's of new and old: fruit, potato salad, quinoa, desserts, etc. There were a handful of homemade BBQ sauces in squeeze bottles. The whole thing was perfect. Thank you MCA for setting my expectations low, and thank you KotM for blowing them outta the water!
