I wish I can give 0 stars! I have never done a negative review! Don't come here! I have a cornea condition and came here, I gave up a semester in college to pay for 1,000 for a contact for my condition. The cornea specialist did not care about me at all when it wasn't working for me. I told her I was in pain, I wasn't comfortable and the whole time she made me feel like it was me. The gas lighting was crazy, I'm getting help elsewhere. I hope no one waste their money here. they have shitty reviews for a reason. I should've listen to what everyone was saying! I have insurance and I can go once a year for my annual. They say I have a stye and they recommend glasses or contacts. I want contacts because I like to wear sunglasses while playing golf. They say my insurance will cover glasses or contacts. But instead of measuring for the contracts right there which by the way they did all kinds of tests the first time. They make you come back to measure for your contacts so they can charge you $200 visit since the insurance only covers 1 visit per year. I should have read the reviews from this place before going. Totally dishonest people. read more

5 stars would be for very short wait and I will say this last appt was improved. Otherwise the staff is very good. Dr. has a good practice and a location convenient for us. Horrible experience! I took my son here for an annual eye exam and waited in a crowded lobby for 45 minutes past his scheduled appointment time. The optometrist was immediately rude when I indicated I did not want my son's eyes dilated and requested a photo instead.. she examines my son's eyes & says she notices a scar on his right eye than immediately against my wishes dilates my son's eyes! The way she did it was extremely harsh and her demeanor had no care. We felt disrespected and my son felt that experience was traumatic. We went to another optometrist for a second opinion regarding the "scar" on the right eye and none was indicated. Bird Eye Institute is unethical and treats patients with no respect. read more

I'm 40 and have a stye on my eye from lash extensions. I recently had a new eye exam & glasses with an another eye Dr who recommended I see an ophthalmologist to remove or drain the stye. They had me wait an hour and a half to do multiple procedures on BOTH of my eyes including glaucoma screening and dilation and more. When I questioned and told them I'd like to not do any further tests as they don't relate to someone of my age & I just had my eyes checked 45 days ago. While I appreciate and understand the position if I didn't recently have an exam - under Covid conditions I don't see the value in unnecessary procedures. I am here for one reason it's external - on top of the skin - NOT IN THE EYE. They also verified prior to my appointment that I made a month and a half ago this would be the case . I took off of work drove 20 miles and spent two hours here for nothing. I will give them that I asked for my $50 refund and they did give it to me. If the patient was in their best interest they would have removed the stay off of my eye that is bothering me versus not wanting to continue with the appointment because I don't want glaucoma screening!!! This feels like the kind of place they just want to bill the crap out of your insurance for tests. I think it's very very rare for somebody my age to have glaucoma by the way!! This is my first time here and the visit has been professional, friendly, and on time. The front desk customer service is welcoming and very helpful. Dr. Franco is wonderful. If I could leave zero stars I would. I took my elderly grandma to this office due to one of her friends recommendations. Sadly the staff was rude, and was quite literally screaming while talking to her from a foot away. She does suffer from hard hearing but this was rude and unnecessary. We arrived 15 mins early to fill out forms and proceeded to wait in the waiting room for 30 mins before they ran some test and stuck us back in the waiting room for another 1.5 hrs at which point they decided to do more imaging and stick us in another room for an hr. I'm absolutely appalled at the customer service. They didn't even bother to apologize for their rude behavior and 4hr wait. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone unless you have 3-4 hrs to waste and want an astronomical bill! read more

I should've listened to the Yelp reviews and never wasted my time with this horribly staffed office. The doctors need to listen to their patients and actually reprimand their staff. Actually they need to fire the management and do better with patients. Both my mom and I used to go here and will never step a foot in this facility due to the ill mannered staff/management. I went for a doctors visit in 3/2017 and received a bill today 1/31/2019 for a co-pay that was paid prior to even seeing the doctor PER their own office rules. So how are you billing me again???!!! I called billing to explain the mistake and the representative sounded so dead and you could clearly tell she does not care about the patients concern or complaints. She asked me for a receipt, which I do not have as it's been 2 years. I don't know anyone who would keep a receipt from a doctors office. Someone obviously pocketed my cash and now they are charging me twice for their lack of accounting. It's completely unethical and I can not fathom that a doctors office would treat their own clients like this. I have reported them to the BBB already and I have never done this before. I normally would not write something about a place but I feel like a lot of patients go here and a lot of elderly people as well who should definitely go somewhere where they are actually treated properly. This is the most unprofessional staff you would ever meet at any doctor office. There could not possibly be a worse customer service or more unprofessional eye doctor and staff in Orlando. On my appointment day 7/9/2019 at 9 am, the entire staff showed up at 9:25 am, while 6 patients stood outside in the sun. Upon arriving, the staff instructed us all to wait outside in the heat, while they get the computers started and setup the office. After being more than an hour behind schedule, Dr. Franco showed no attention, courtesy, or manners in dealing with me. After my eye exam, they made me walk back into the office I was examined in during another patients eye exam to retrieve my own contacts that were taken out of my eye for the exam. It gets even worse. The entire Hispanic staff was completely rude, no manners, spoke Spanish in front of the patients the entire time, and had a great deal of trouble communicating with me in English. I ordered a 6 month supply of contacts. They promised me the contacts would arrive in 3-4 days and they would call me for pickup. After not hear from the office in 5 days, I decided to call and left a message with their daily answering service. They did not even return my phone call until my 5th day in a row calling. When they finally called me back 12 days after my appointment, they informed me they had just ordered a trial pair and it should arrive in a week. They failed to order my 6 month supply. They claimed it was a misunderstanding (language barrier) and after I approve the "trial pair," then they could order my 6 month supply because this is their policy. How ridiculous of a policy? I explained I have been using the same contact brand for 13 years and I needed them to order my 6 month supply because they are already 2 weeks behind what they had promised in office. They failed to do so again. I requested a call from Dr. Bird, and Dr. Bird himself (owner) has never called me to this day. WORSE OFFICE AND STAFF IN ORLANDO! read more

This place is a scam, don't even bother coming here. I was directed to go here from my school, I self pay so the visit was $150. I came here because I had a big sty on my eye (you can see it from miles away) that needed to be drained. I came in to have it checked out, not looking to get glasses and the tech dilated my eyes... the doctor came in barely inspected my eyes and didn't attempt to drain it. Instead he gave me prescriptions for antibiotics that costed $80!!!! The antibiotics had no effect on my sty at all and he said comeback in 2-3weeks and he will check it again. Came back and the visit was $50 this time, the doctor barely checked my eye again and suggested that I kept on taking the antibiotics even though it didn't help at all. He wanted to schedule another appointment in 2-3weeks. I didn't book another one, this place is running aa scam. I went to a different ophthalmologist and they removed/drained my sty the first visit. I'd stay away from this pathetic piece of shit place at all cost. This place is a pathetic joke. read more

I arrived at the Baldwin park office at 8:30am for my 9am appointment. There was no one at the front desk so I signed myself in and waited for someone to come up from since I could hear someone in the back. When she came to the front desk; she didn't say a word to me...Not even a good morning; she just handed me the paperwork to fill out. I was call into the back at 9:05 and the eye test was performed and my eyes were dilated and examined I believe she may have been a technician/assistant; she was nice. After she was finished with my test she took me into another room and said the Doctor will be right with you. This was precisely at 9:20am so I waited for the Doctor to come in to finish the exam. I waited.....and I waited.....and I waited....after waiting for 50 minutes I figured I asked the technician if the Doctor was even in the building...She said no; he's usually here by now..I said what?? I want to cancel/reschedule but then realize why reschedule? the front desk assistance without me even asking was giving me a refund so I figure this is not usual practice for the doctor not to show up..I asked the lady at the front desk why even schedule me at 9am if the doctor doesn't show up?? I took time off of work to attend this appointment and cannot afford to keep taking off of work! I write all of this to warn you in advance....expect the doctor not to be there... read more

Very unprofessional team- I asked how long the doctor would take and was told that if I had something to do I should just reschedule after waiting over an hour to be seen and watching the doctors continue to take patients before me who had appointments scheduled after. Then after questioning this I was told they had quick appointments so it was ok while I was only waiting for a follow up. Deeply disappointed by this office and I would not recommend anyone go to them. Use anyone else. read more

OFFICE IS UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! I Don't Recommend this Doctors office, Staff is very rude and unprofessional, they all just hang around in the hallways and talk so loud to eachother like there in the streets, while I was in the room with the MA other workers kept coming in the room to talk to her in Spanish and carry on a conversation like I was not there, their MA are not knowledgeable or seem to know what there doing, they don't even explain the test before doing it and touching your eyes, without gloves, mind u she's touching everything and walking into other rooms touching everything bare hands, the whole staff is trash and has bad attitudes, the Doctor is only in the room with me for a couple of minutes and doesn't really check my eyes, I came here bc he's a specialist but all he does is refer me to another specialist, so I paid a copay for nothing, now I have to go see another Optamologist and pay another copay bc Dr Bird is useless and runs a circus, they give me a referral to another doctor only to find out he doesn't take my health plan.
