It's a nice place however their biggest issue is if you need to call them they never ever answer their phone.

In spite of this challenge, he agreed to take me on, and I am happy that he did. He explained fully the surgery options, he actually recommended laser surgery. The surgeries were done two weeks apart at the Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center. The procedures included the removal of cataracts and inserting the appropriate lens implants. Both eye surgeries were completed flawlessly, with great precision and care. There were no complications during, or after the surgeries. My eye sight is near perfect, as of about four months past the surgeries. I still need reading glasses for small print, which is normal, and was the expected outcome. I can highly recommend Dr. Patel for his surgical skills. His friendly personality makes any contact with him a real pleasure for patients and others. He truly cares for his patients. I have received several follow up phone calls from him just to check on me. What went well? Just about everything. Including but not limited to Appointment scheduling Office environment Staff friendliness Wait times Appointments were never rushed Listened & answered questions Explained conditions well What could be improved? Once I met him I no longer felt like a number or a means to an end. I decided to move forward with the surgery and could have not been more reassured prior to the procedures or happier with the results after. The care he took was short of unheard of, down to the drop schedule he provided me. He is surely one of the best. I asked if I could be the president of his fan club but I'm sure there are others vying for the same spot. Thank you for your time, kindness and expertise. You are very special and I hope your students learn everything for you.

The person who retrieved my medical record also wrote down my prescription numbers reversed, leading to an additional 20 minutes in the exam and some psychological stress over how confused the Dr was! Phoned 3 times leading up to appt, no one answered. Finally received a call 5 minutes prior that the Dr is running 2 hours behind schedule. There are warnings all over the place saying they'll charge you a late fee. 2 hours. It took 20 minutes to get checked in--you have to write your name down and wait for the front desk to do so. Most staff in plain clothes, no badges, lanyards, or anything identifying, so it's incredibly hard to tell who works here. Have been here an hour. Have almost been run down twice by busy staff busily walking very importantly. They couldn't find my vision insurance using the same insurance card as I always use for vision, and wanted in-depth information about it I've never been asked before.

At 10:40 I was called by the tech & went through vision tests. I was then shown to the subsequent waiting area where it is now 12:12 & I have no idea what is happening. No one from the facility comes out to offer an explanation or apology. I have never waited this long & at the 2hr mark, I may choose to wait no longer. I do not have all day to sit in a waiting room. The fact that not just me, but the other 12ppl here are being totally ignored is unacceptable & inexcusable. If this is not a one-off, I will be choosing another eye dr. Stay tuned for an update. So at 12:35 an assistant appeared & called another patient. Not me. I inquired how much longer was the wait time as I had been waiting over 2hrs. The response? Flippant & "oh, the wait is 2 1/2-3hrs. I told him he could cross me off. I went to the front desk & informed them why I was leaving & I would not be returning. I got to my car, searched another provider, & set the wheels in motion. What an epic failure & total waste of time!!!! Sad..... bc I actually like the Dr I saw.

My mother, Maichu, received the absolute greatest care and guidance, which was critical as she was having surgery on her "good eye." First, the wait time is never long. (This is worth mentioning, as we have seen surgeons elsewhere where wait times were upward of hours. This can cause stress and unease.) Second, the staff is caring. Not only friendly, but helpful, and pleasant. Every room is immaculate with state-of-the-art equipment. Dr. Shumski performed laser cataract surgery that was an astonishing success. Mai says it was painless (only discomfort was "about 20 eye drops and switching rooms" pre-surgery. This is a far cry from the cataract surgery performed on her right eye a few years ago by a different office in the area.) Laser seems to be the way to go: less pain, and most importantly, it's safer. Maichu doesn't use computers, and has urged me several times to leave Magruder a review, and I hope this has helped you in finding the right fit for your eye journey. You will be in the best, most skilled hands, with knowledgable and friendly doctors and staff. Thank You so much to Dr. Shumski, Dr. Calloway, and everyone who has helped Maichu. Her anxiety over her eye is finally gone, with near-perfect vision (at 72), she does not need to wear corrective lenses to drive anymore. Kind of cool, we think. Amazed and grateful, Wendy and Maichu PS - If you have one "good eye" like Mai, take the advice we got from a lovely intern at Magruder: wear safety glasses! Especially in situations where chemicals or debris can damage that eye. We found super cute safety glasses (look for ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 approved) on Amazon.

Excellent care from making the initial appointment to follow-up visit. I opted for the laser cataract removal and multifocal correction and I was able to do both eyes at the same time, which was fantastic! I could see clearly immediately!!! Everyone says, "why did I wait so long to have the surgery?" JUST DO IT!!! After my initial visit, I ran into a friend of mine, who was in the waiting area for a follow up appointment. She had her cataracts and lenses done and THAT eased my anxiety, I KNEW I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE!!! Thank you Dr. Shumski and Dr Calloway and ALL the staff, you're all GREAT! I can see clearly now, the clouds are gone......

First of all the lady knows her profession inside and out, but she treats you with kindness and respect. Everything I want in a friend. We have gone to Dr Poulos off an on as my husband's cataracts got worse and he recently had surgery to replace his eye lens. Dr Poulos consulted with us. She took the time to present the facts, help us decide and explain what would happen. Her staff is also efficient and caring. They work together like a team and the educate and prepare you for your procedure. They present you with a little kit and a folder with the exact instructions easily mapped out. Overall the kindness and caring I see in Dr Poulos is also reflected in her staff. They use the latest equipment to measure and gather the information for the procedure. They give you instructions written and verbal and call you before the appointment to make sure you understand exactly what to do. Our contact for surgery scheduling made it convenient and she was very nice as she worked to get both eyes completed before the holidays. The drops that you must buy for cataract surgery can be costly. Dr Poulos works with a pharmacy that delivers but more importantly they offer a really good discount. A co-worker went to a different doctor and paid $100 for each of 3 small bottles and my average for similar 3 bottles was $65 each. A significant savings and one I would not have known about except Dr Poulous negotiates to provide their patients an easy way to get the medication at a significant savings. The staff is really good about keeping the appointments on schedule with little to no waiting so they get you in and out. We saw another doctor before selecting Dr Poulos. They had us waiting for so long (in the waiting room and in the exam room) and when we did see the doctor we got a hard sell to upgrade out of pocket. I am so glad I checked with my friend on who she had used for her cataract procedure and was happy to get the referral to Dr. Margaret Poulos.
