Bircus is as unique, fun, & cool as its name suggests/sounds like. Personally, I am not a huge beer or IPA fan, but I am a fan of cider. Please also note though that I am not a connoisseur and know nothing about the correct tasting terms. However, the cider they have currently (August 2023) is so smooth, you'll think you're drinking the best juice with a little kick ever. The fruit notes were not overwhelming and it was very smooth. It also wasn't too carbonated/bubbly tasting. I loved it and def recommend it if you want something refreshing yet super tasty. Secondly, the pizza. Believe the hype. You will not be disappointed in the dough, cheese, or other ingredients they use. The fact that they use San Marzano tomatoes also elevates their food. Lastly, the service is top flipping notch. Kaley Rose's voice and effervescence elevates the experience at Bircus. To have someone who is so welcoming, patient, & kind takes a business from just a good experience to a memory. The other employees were equally as nice and hardworking, so it's obvious that Bircus puts thought into not only their pizza and entertainment but also their drink variety and staff. We attended recitals of various bands from NKU's music school on a Sunday night. We drank Bircus beer---The Strongest Man, a Belgian dark ale (A+)---and shared a Margarita pizza (B-). As the grades reflect, the beer was excellent but the pizza was ok. It was edible, staved off hunger, and likely helped keep me from falling off my stool from Belgian-ale annihilation, but it did not send me flying. This place is like no place else I've ever been. They have all kind of circus equipment, like aerial silks, lyra, trapeze a huge ball, a wheel and many other things. They have a great selection of beer and really delicious wood-fired pizza. But, that's all. Do not come here for something fancy or highbrow or a really huge menu. Come here for the fun come here if you love the circus, come here if you love beer. We had the absolutely best experience on my daughter's birthday. Damion was our bartender and circus master. He did an incredible job of making sure that she had an awesome day. He put on a juggling show for her and taught her how to balance the peacock feather on her hands and chin . I got the sampler Cerveza yum Mts Patterson Belgian beer with a hint of orange, black cherry seltzer and oatmeal beer not my favorite. We visited Bircus Brewing to see a Circus Mojo show, but stayed for the craft beer and wood-fired pizza! The scene: The Ludlow Theater has been repurposed as a multi-use space-performances, food and a full bar. Circus decor is everywhere, and very festive. The vibe: very laid back, casual, local neighborhood feel, great for adults and kids alike. This is a real family place-the owners and their children are also circus performers! Bring the kiddos on a Saturday to enjoy a performance-tickets are on Eventbrite- search for Circus Mojo. We really enjoyed the audience-interactive show and the talent of the performers. Little kids will love it too. The brews: multiple brews on tap, including a gluten free mead and a gluten free cider. They were out of these, but also offer wine and mixed drinks. Homemade gingerale was delicious, and my companion loved the brews-he tried several options and will definitely return for the beer! The pizza: delicious hand-tossed crust, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, hand cut pepperoni was all delicious! Everyone in the group really enjoyed the pizza, and would return for it. This is such a unique place that combines a brewery and a circus! It's a great space to host an event, they have all the audio and video hookups! The outdoor area is also very spacious and would be perfect in the summer! The wood fired pizzas are crispy and delicious. There are lots of vegetarian friendly options and the Margherita pizza tasted so fresh with the basil and tomatoes. Be sure to order pizza once you arrive especially if it's a busy night, they have 1 wood fired oven so can take some time but so worth it! They also have an extensive rotating beer list, the Cerveza 1862 Mexican beer accompanied the pizza really well! The staff is multi-talented. The bartender who served my beer was also a trapeze and aerial artist! It was so entertaining and a great way to kick off the event. This is my first visit here. I came because of Burger Week and their description of their Bircus Burger sounded delicious. While waiting for our burgers I looked at their usual menu and will definitely return to try their 12" Goetta Pizza. On street parking here was very easy. Last minute plan to head across the river to check out Bircus' flea market and bloody mary breakfast. Love the setting in an old theater with an updated marquee. Walk in the front door and the bar is right in front. We walked around to the flea market first (which was somewhat underwhelming... maybe due to COVID. ) We ordered a couple of bloody's and a breakfast Margherita pizza. The bloody mary's were quite tasty. Homemade mix was flavorful. Love the garnish, pictured. Not particularly strong, though. The pizza was good, but could have used sauce though crust was perfectly crisp. Thought there was inside seating, we opted for the outside patio with heaters and a nice fire pit. Being able to enjoy food, beer, and the company of others outdoors is critical these days. I give a big thanks to the Bircus Circus for providing all three and a little bit of entertainment on a cold December night. Bircus provided a patio and some fires and outdoor heaters to keep warm. They even broke out some roasted chestnuts to cap off the night. While visiting, I was able to try the Funghi Pizza. Pretty tasty for pizza in Northern Kentucky. I also got to try the Lud Light, Cerveza 1862, Irreguliner, and the Comic Walrus. The Lud Light is the kind of beer you can drink all night, while the Irreguliner was a tasty option if you're more into a Frambois-style beer. But the fun doesn't stop at food and drinks for Bircus. Their entertainment background means they're always willing to put on a show. Whether their balancing ladders on their chins, or juggling some pizza dough, these folks will always find a way to draw some eyes! read more

Such a cool place! Brewery meets theater. This location is an old theater and when you walk in it you can just picture it. The large bar at the front has staff that was very friendly and inviting. Then behind the bar and down a few stairs there's an actually stage for performances. When we came in they had a play of some sort going on and the seats were packed so we sat at the bar. I just wish you could see the stage from the bar. But nonetheless, this is such a fun concept! I could hear all dialog from the bar. Now let's talk beer... they had 11 options and something for almost all beer types. I had the Big Panda which was a sour brown. It was different than anything I've had and I enjoyed it. My husband had the kolsch and he really liked it. Pints are $6 each. There's street parking along with an overflow parking lot. I wish I lived here so I could check out other shows here! (3.5) Miss Patterson Belgian blonde- Sweet orange with lemon zest balanced with spice notes. (3.5) Alta Via altbier- Smooth and smoky with notes of caramel, vanilla, mild chocolate, and hints of molasses. (3.75) Diving Elk (aged in Willet barrels)- massive bourbon presence both on nose and palette with notes of caramel, vanilla, cherry, roasted coffee, and cream hints. Smooth yet strong! My absolute fave was the Diving Elk aged on Willet barrels! So much goodness and tasted so much cheery in the back end! What a great experience! My Mr and I will definitely return very soon! To stand out in the Brewing business these days, you have to do something different, and do it better. Bircus is making some great beers. With few exceptions, most of the breweries around here are brewing great beers. That's not what's different. Bircus is focused on delivering an entertainment experience, being a big part of the fabric of Ludlow community, and supporting important causes through great beer. All of the employees are engaging, and knowledgeable but not snobby. It's a casual feel that makes everyone feel like part of something. I can't wait to visit when the conversion of the Ludlow theater into the full blown tap room is complete. Locally run business! I was invited to celebrate one of my friends birthday. She likes to support small businesses and since it's her special day she chooses Bircus. It was a great place- plenty of floor spaces and also offers outdoor sittings. As you come in, you will be treated with a huge bar full of beer. I like it that the list of beer includes the the unique name, alcohol level and the major ingredient/s. The staff were all very friendly, nice and engaging. There's a band and at the same time you will be entertained with a circus performance. What a treat! I have to mention that you have to pay $10+ $2 fee, online rsvp for guaranteed sitting or pay $5 for walk in. I think it's worth it paying extra. The pizza was so good! This place serves Neapolitan style pizza which makes it simpler, lighter and so delicious one can devour the whole 12" pizza in one meal. We've been coming here for months now and have enjoyed the beers very much. And after much waiting, the theatre taproom is finally open with its official Grand Opening celebration on Nov. 21st! The space is neat. The bar is what greets you when you walk in, with plenty of seats if this is where you want to be. The big open floor below has tables to watch the performances as well as a smaller bar for special events. The tanks are visible in the back and there is also a loft area that offers a birds eye view. The VIP space is on the balcony above the bar and is for rent if you'd prefer a private space with a nice view. This is an awesome venue and kid friendly too. We had my husband's birthday party here and our friends brought their little ones and they had a blast. Along with live circus performances you can see live music too. I'm not sure what the timeline on becoming a regular venue is, but the theatre attached to Bircus is exactly what the name suggests... a circus show and brewery all under the same roof! How cool is that!?! The evening I visited was just to have a beer in the tap room. We ordered the "Sipping Panda" which was a sour. It was delicious, and while we only had one, I appreciated the variety in beer types that Bircus is brewing. I cannot wait to visit and get the full "Bircus" experience with circus performers and great beer. With Second Sight across the street, Ludlow sure is making a name for themselves. Bircus continues to be such a cool place. No other brewery has adapted like they have during COVID. The hours and regulations keep changing, yet they continue to be super creative to abide by the law. Right now, they can only serve food outside, so what do they do? The clever name is what stood out to me, circus combined with a brewery was out of the ordinary and caught my attention. We went on a Sunday afternoon as we were swinging from place to place (see what I did there!) and enjoyed the quick, but fun visit. We loved that they were hosting a flea market afternoon and wanted to scoop it out. There were vendors set up outside in the patio seating and more located indoors behind the bar area down a few steps. The inside is truly decorated like a circus with accessories hanging from here and there, that remind you of an actual circus. The bar area was nice and the staff were great. We tried a summer beer and seltzer and both were delicious when served ice cold. As they got to room temperature (we drink slow!) the flavor changed a bit and neither of us finished our drinks. Bircus is definitely doing something unique. If you haven't figured it out by their name, the brewery is circus influenced and will have tons of entertainment on a daily basis (think sweet DJs, aerial artists, fire spinning and more!) once the actual taproom is finished. Right now the taproom is housed in what will become the food portion of the brewery, so there is more to come! The owner, Paul, is a straight up clown and proud of it. He's enthusiastic and loves to share his passion for entertainment and beer. If you are lucky to stop by when he is in don't hesitate to ask him to balance a ladder or keg on his chin! I've had the pleasure of seeing this more than once, and I've also learned how to spin (plastic) plates with a beer in hand! Not only does Bircus put on a good show, but the beer is also a show-stopper. Make sure to try Atilla the Plum, which is my personal favorite.
