Birch Coffee is a cute little coffee shop on the 1st floor of the 8 Spruce Street apartment building. It has a quiet atmosphere with a cozy feel. It's the kind of place where you can curl up to a book and some hot cocoa. The bathroom is clean (an important must!). Plus, they give a 10% discount to educators and uni students with ID. Be mindful, however, that there are no Wifi and outlets, so if you're looking for a place to work for some time, this may not be it. Still, I love the good vibes of the place. Very friendly, chill staff. They do not sell hot food but they offer an array of pastries. As for beverages, they have the standard options for a coffee shop. I've had the hot cocoa and birch spiced latte, the latter which is a sweet, caffeinated mix of ginger, nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Both have been decent. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely stop by!

Spacious cafe where there's plenty of places to sit and enjoy a drink/pastry. Saw a couple of people working in there as well. Got a large cold brew for $6 which was tasty (liked how it wasn't too bitter). The barista was friendly and they also had pastries but didn't get any this time. Would like to try some of their specialty drinks next time!

Had the best experience grabbing an iced chai latte. The space was clean and inviting. The person who took my order was super sweet and suggestive. Definitely tried to connect with me and get to know me even though I was traveling. I waited maybe 2 min for my beverage and it tasted amazing! 10/10 recommend!

We stopped here after visiting the Brooklyn bridge. yeah there was a Starbucks nearby but we can get that anywhere and wanted to try this place. This place is small but cute. I felt like I was at a Berkeley coffee shop - it felt hipstery. They have a long table, communal style. It was late morning/early afternoon and was happy to see they still had baked goods available. My chocolate croissant was pretty standard. My iced caramel latte was good. Although I was thrown off with the extra 50Cent charge for making it iced. They have a little station off to the side with what seemed to be simple syrup. I would've added that to my coffee had I seen it earlier and skipped the $0.75 caramel. Before tip, 2 coffees, 2 croissants, $20.

Cute coffee shop. Very nice hipster-ish vibes. They have the old and new standards. Their baristas provide excellent customer service and know what they're doing. The vibe with the books etc is cool. Prices are normal. You won't regret eating here.

This was a very spacious coffee shop with plenty of seating. The shop offered an assortment of coffee options, cold brews, lattes and a selection of sweet and savory pastries. All of which looked very appetizing. I decided to go with their new drink, lavender hibiscus latte and a plain croissant. The croissant was flakey and not too buttery. I didn't taste much lavender in the latte. If I were to order it again, i'd like to try the drink iced and add a little more sweetness.

Upbeat seratonin-boosting music, cozy window seating, and decent coffee (latte for $6). The matcha is unsweetened, though, but there's simple syrup on the counter. Waitresses were super nice but there's NO WIFI and NO OUTLETS, which makes it a pretty bad study spot.

Friendly staff and the best coffee! It is the smoothest coffee I have ever had. I have even decided to order online to ship to my home!

Service could be nicer but birch coffee is always good. I got an oatmeal birch spice latte, and it had a perfect amount of sweet and spice. I only wish they had almond milk.

Quick service, coffee was good, love the details of the interior- from the checkered floor to vines and greens spread out! Cozy atmosphere.

Super cute and cozy spot in financial district for some great coffee ! They also sell two types of Underwest doughnuts, which was awesome, because it saved me from making the trip to midtown to try the famous car wash doughnuts. Their coffee is amazing! I ordered the cappuccino and it was divine. If you are a coffee lover and coffee snob like me you, you know what good coffee should taste like. I was very happy to be able to enjoy a vanilla lavender Underwest doughnut and cappuccino there. Overall the service is good. They have a communal table in the middle and a few tiny two person tables on the right side of the coffee/order area. It's a bit narrow so it does get uncomfortable if there are people sitting next to you. But right. They also have some sitting space on the left side of the coffee/order area with high stools, where you can people watch or whatever.

If texture doesn't bother you (liberal amount of black sesame!), I'd suggest getting this latte (10/10). Both pastries were great in their own right. For my second matcha of the day, this matcha was like your everyday/average matcha. Can't go wrong, but it wasn't mind-blowing. If you're in the Theatre District, I'd definitely recommend popping in for a drink & a treat!

I had seen their cute pastries online and wanted to check them out. We got the items above and a few coffees. The cakes are cute. Tho not as light and fluffy as I was expecting. I thought they'd be more like the asian bakeries we have back in SF. Not as sweet as american desserts, but it was kinda in between. The egg sandwich I really wanted to like since I've been craving one. But the it was sooo dry. Definitely needed more mayo. And the bread wasn't very fluffy either. Cute spot if you want cute desserts. Tho I think they are more geared towards posting on socials. REVIEW #3999

It's pricey, but welcome to FiDi. My one complaint is they try to upsell you. Like, I'm sure your pastry that's unique to Puerto Rico and that I've never had before is delicious, but I need to get going and I don't want to dip into my 401k for it.

It happened to be 787 Coffee which I have visited plenty of times on the island and enjoy. With excitement and in Spanish I tell the cashier that I was happy to come across this place as I have tried them out in PR. How is it that this "jibara" apparently from Maricao, spoke to me in broken English while I am talking to her in our native language, total fail. Anyhow, I ordered the coquito hot latte with an extra shot of rum and oat milk, fine, I paid $11 for a very small coffee. Now what I can't believe is that the quesito pastry was $8. I really wanted it but it was not until I paid that I then noticed the price. I sat to eat it while I waited for my name to be called as mentioned by the cashier. I walked around looking at everything, the music very loud and hard for people sitting to have conversations, the place is very colorful and with many PR sayings, however the place also feels very Americanized with the music and layout. I still awaited my name to be called minutes later, but nothing. I approached the cashier, who was just standing there, to ask about my coffee and she wasn't able to tell me so she asked the barista steps away from her. He pointed to a cofre sitting on their counter, it had my name, and when I pointed out that I was waiting for my name to be called, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled like she didn't care. The coffee by now was not all that hot, I never tasted any rum or coquito flavor and felt I wasted my time at this place. What's more upsetting is that I left a nice tip for a service that was not provided. They couldn't even bring the coffee ti my table once they realized it was sitting there and they forgot to call my name. You can find better service elsewhere.
