Didn't really deliver. Lego with all sorts of cobranded Disney movies but no just... Lego. A staff that wasn't very helpful in knowing whether a game was a deck building game or strategy game. Those old school little balsa wood planes? Drones I seem to see everywhere? Nah, none of that. Oh well, just hard to really do physical retail when literally every thing and every piece of information is in a browser. They came up in conversation as having some sort of Pokemon night. Sounds neat so I checked the web site. There's literally no information. So I called the store. And got a recording or phone tree or something that's not very helpful. Not really looking for cobranded marketing doofers. Not really looking for "STEM" lazily slapped onto schlock.

Yes, it doesn't have as much as Toys R Us. and Yes, it's a bit more expensive than Toys R Us or Walmart. But Yes, you're supporting a local business by shopping here. And Yes, the service is much better, than normal customer service at a "big box" like Toys R Us or Walmart. They also wrap, which I find extremely convenient, and have some great options for gifts that Toys R Us doesn't. They have a ton of art supplies, mostly Alex & Faber Castel, as well as some Crayola, all not overpriced and cool. As well as lots of board games, and lots of puzzles and small trinkets (they had a whole unit filled with small compartments for cool little things). Even though it's small, so much to choose from and so many options. The staff were also helpful and useful with finding products I was looking for and I found a perfect alternative to an item they didn't have. Superior service, that wasn't at a Bloomingdale's price. Perfect. Will need to visit here more often for gifts. Just like basically everywhere in Newton Centre, everywhere here are all just great places to shop! This store is in Newton Centre, but not directly in the heart of it, and not near as much of the traffic (which is really nice). It's on Centre Street at the junction of Cypress Street. There is a front entrance on Centre and a back entrance with a large parking lot. There is another parking lot for it as well off to the side, which you do have to pay for a meter. Stores that buy used items like this just aren't worth it if you're hoping to get a reasonable return. For example, if you paid around $300 for a bassinet that's still in excellent condition, you may only be offered around $20 for it. The store may then resell it for $50 to $75. While I understand these businesses need to make a profit, the amount offered to sellers felt far too low to make it worthwhile. In my opinion, you're better off selling your items yourself through a local marketplace or giving them to a family in need. At least that way you'll either receive a fairer price or know your items are helping someone else. Unfortunately, I won't be selling here again.

Especially around the holidays, this store is a gem because it's never congested like Toys R Us can be sometimes and the staff are personable, kind, and actually knowledgeable about the items they sell. Sometimes you'll be even lucky to find someone working at Toys R Us! Now, the selection here in comparison to Toys R Us is definitely different. This is a smaller store and therefore, much less incapable to hold the excess of toys that are able to be held by the larger chains. Plus, any independent business is smaller so service can be supreme, and so that they can actually survive. I hope there never becomes a day when all the small, independent stores are gone, because having this place around makes Christmas and birthday shopping very easy and much less hectic. Organized, not overpriced and ideal for any parent to do shopping for their kids or gifting for others at. While this probably should be a five star review, the Newton location does seem to always have a little more of exactly the stuff I'm looking for... and for that only, minus one star. I called ahead before making the 45-minute drive & I was told they had 24 NeeDoh reindeer in stock, so I decided it was worth the trip because i knew they had tons of other fun stuff regardless and I have 3 kids. When I arrived, I was told there were no reindeer left & a limit of 2 per household. No problem. I respected the policy, purchased two, and continued shopping with my 3-year-old daughter and my 5 month old. While walking around the store, I witnessed a boy with his mother purchasing four Needohs. I was standing right there, so I asked whether the limit applied to everyone, explaining that I was there with my daughter as well. The employee told me no, explaining that the boy was 10 and that he wasn't going to do the same for a 3-year-old. He also tried explaining that the boy was purchasing them in his own transaction, but that doesn't change the fact that the policy I was given was 2 per household, not two per transaction or based on the age of the child. They were shopping together, and I have no way of knowing how the purchase was actually handled beyond what I witnessed. I also explained that I have a 9-year-old at home, so I @was shopping for both of my children. These are $10 toys. I'm genuinely struggling to understand how the age of one child determines whether a household is allowed to purchase something while another household is permitted to buy twice as many. Does a 3-year-old not deserve the same opportunity to enjoy a toy as a 10-year-old? I want to be fair and mention that one of the employees was very nice and pleasant during my interaction with him. However, when he rang me out, he also confirmed that I could not purchase any additional ones, reiterated the same explanation, and thanked me for understanding. I appreciated his polite manner, but the decision was still the same. What made the experience even more upsetting was that I was visibly struggling with my toddler throughout the visit. She was having a difficult time and instead of feeling like anyone had a little understanding or compassion for the situation, I felt like I was being made to feel unreasonable for simply questioning why the rules weren't being applied consistently. And this is why so many parents dont even bother to try going out early to find them. Its never worth it. I ended up putting down the other items I had planned to purchase, although I did still buy the toy my daughter wanted because I didn't want to make an already difficult shopping trip any worse. I wasn't upset that the reindeer were limited. I understand stores have to manage inventory, especially when certain toys are in high demand. I was upset because I followed the exact policy I was given, watched another customer purchase more than I was allowed, and was then given an explanation that seemed to make the policy apply differently depending on the age of someone's child. If the rule is two per household, it should be two per household. If there are exceptions, the policy should be clearly explained and consistently applied. I drove 45 minutes each way based on the information I received, and I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and genuinely disappointed. I can absolutely accept being told no. What I have a hard time accepting is watching someone else receive different treatment right in front of me, especially when I was simply trying to shop for my children. It's $10 toys. This should never have turned into such an upsetting experience. It's not about getting extra toys. It's about fairness, consistency, and a little basic compassion for the people walking through your doors.

The fabulous display continues throughout the store, creating a very enjoyable shopping experience. The selection of clothing, books and toys are well curated for ages ranging newborn to small children. I had a lovely chat with the owner who was both friendly and helpful with my shopping needs. She let me know about a clothing sale they were having and provided fun facts about the books I was browsing. (Local authors sold here) I was pleased to see good Spanish book options, and ended up purchasing one as a gift. All at reasonable prices. I love the bins of action figures; you never know who you'll find! Free handicapped parking can be found in the metered lot behind the shop on Chestnut Street. There are also several handicapped spots on Moody Street. Shop is handicapped accessible, though it is a pinch cramped in the back. I've been able to maneuver with a rollator and cane.
