People that work here are generally very friendly. Haven't had to wait in line very long yet after donating for a couple of months. I think the lines might be longer during the end of the day. In general, I have been able to donate in less than an hour, except once with a poor stick. I try to donate bi weekly. My wife likes this place so much she travels a half hour to go here. read more

My college son is sick as a dog- he's been giving plasma repeatedly at this location. He has a family history of compromised immune systems. Do they know this? He has terrible asthma. Do they stop to consider if this college kid is getting sick and trying to sound healthy for 1 hr to make a buck? I don't think his plasma is able to " replenish in 24-48 hrs " as the online articles suggest. I'm certain with his genetic inheritance that it takes him longer to heal than most. Grifols Plasma doesn't care if he's getting sick, now sick down in his lungs with spiraling respiratory/asthma issues. They don't care that he can't go see my family for Thanksgiving after finally coming home from his LDS mission. They just want to think he looks like a healthy college kid and make a buck off of him! read more

Not at all worth the money, the business is not honest I did not receive my 100 dollars for my 2nd donation even though no staff informed me I had to donate the 2nd time within the same month I was 3 days over and received less than half of the money I was promised. They don't know how to manage clients. I sometimes wait up to 30 minutes as people who showed up and checked in after me get sent through. I say something and they tell me to wait my turn. What could be a quick process becomes super tedious and time consuming. They also pay less than the majority of donation centers In the nation at the moment. read more

The staff has been good for the most part. There are even some that are stellar. What is not is corporate. I got an offer of $50 bonus and when I donated I was given $25 bonus and was advised it was because of a corporate issue. So they are being inaccurate/dishonest with their offers. read more

Scummy organization. The front desk lady told me my first three visits would be $100, but did not inform me that they all had to be within the same month. I got the first two within the month, but then I got sick and couldn't donate until after the month period was over. I donated and expected another $100 but they only gave me $40 since there was apparently a sign with small text that said all 3 donations had to be within a month, I just trusted the lady at the desk gave me the full information (she didn't). This place is a scam and is not worth the effort for the money. I will never return to grifols and I will tell everyone I know to do the same because they are dishonest in the way they conduct business. read more

The majority of the employees are great, but there are a few bad ones that have left me with bad experiences. Some phlebotomists don't pay attention and are very unprofessional. After fainting one time, and nobody noticed, I had to get the phlebotomists attention while she was busy chatting with her coworker to ask for a drink. Only after that did she ask if I was okay. I told her I fainted, and she kind of panicked, which I would too if I wasn't paying attention. When the amazing medical staff came and asked her about the incident she lied and said she was watching me when I fainted and that she also returned about half of the saline pouch into my blood system. I think it's important to have employees who are honest when writing up incident reports and recording important medical information. I've noticed that there are amazing employees and horrible employees. If you go, make sure to find the good ones and request them every time. Management isn't that great, but it's hard to complain when it's easy money selling plasma. That being said, I still think they could easily be way better. They need to have better customer service and responsibility when things go wrong. read more

Grifols is a fabulous place to earn a lot of money if you're consistent. I've been donating plasma there off and on for a couple of years and nearly every time have an excellent experience so I want to address some fears people typically have about donating plasma: 1. THE PAIN. This is the biggest worry I hear time and time again. The reality is that you can't avoid feeling a little pain here, but it should only hurt (in a very centralized area) during the needle insertion and removal. The rest of the process you're just sitting on the bed watching the movie they have playing, studying, or whatever you want without any discomfort. 2. I've heard about so-and-so who they messed up on! Ok...mistakes happen, even with trained medical staff, but they are always extremely thoughtful about making sure you are comfortable. I've experienced a couple of mistakes on my stick and they've been really nice about asking if I want to try again, and once it just wasn't working even after the second try so they sent me home being paid still. 3. Is it worth the money? YES! If you are consistent. Pay attention to the days of the month so you start donating at the beginning because you're paid $5 more than the last time you came that month, then it resets at the beginning of the next month, starting at $25 (or $35 if you're new). You can donate twice a week, so it just takes a couple minutes to look at a monthly calendar and plan out the best days to donate to maximize your pay. Doing that on certain months can get you nearly $500!! A couple important things to keep in mind before you donate: 1. You can't go right after getting a new tattoo (or getting one re-touched) or a new piercing. 2. Don't forget to set your appointment online! Most of the time you can do it that day and are still openings, and as long as you come within 5 minutes of the scheduled appointment they'll take ya. 3. Plan for 2-3 hours the first time you visit, and I typically block out 2 hours for return visits in case there are a lot of other people there. 4. RELAX! It's not as bad as the needle looks. Keep your muscles relaxed and it's less painful. And don't stress about it-it'll be fine, and if not, at least you tried it once! read more

For a long time I have been keeping my 4 star review up because I love a lot of the workers there. But today... the truth must be spoken. Now i know this won't hurt Grifols... the multibillion dollar company who cares enough about the little guy to give them 25 dollars for a plasma bottle they sell for 1000, and if you ever need some you have to pay an even higher price if your insurance doesn't cover it (ps it wont cover very much of it college student). I know that college students will continue to go because it's easy money and they accept everyone, regardless of what I say in my review and they will continue to profit off people by taking what is theirs and selling it back to them. Does plasma save lives? absolutely, but people don't save lives for free. If you want to survive you have to pay the premium. So lets quit pretending this is donating, or that grifols donates the plasma for free. And today as i sat waiting for an hour I realized how much of a sucker I was. Sat their for an hour because for the 4th time someone forgot to pull my chart. I don't believe accidents mean I should be compensated in any way, so I never ask. But shouldn't they at least offer so I can say no thanks, dont worry about it, we all make mistakes? Once again dear college student if you need the money and this is your only resort, then go here. But when you actually sit down and think about how much theyre profiting off you and how little they pay their workers, it changes perspective for some. THE VERDICT: I am pro capitalism. But lets call it what it is. Lets stop pretending this is anything more than what it actually is, a business, that takes what you have and sells it back to. This place has gone down hill. What use to take an 1hr 15 tops, takes two hours. If you get an appt plan on 20-30 minute wait times just to get screened. Treat their employees like CRAP! Overwork them, underpay them and OVER schedule them. Absolutely ridiculous. Always the longest wait times because the staff can't keep up. I know many college kids would work here for medical hours so HIRE MORE! Also, your replies to reviews are just automated and not real people reading real problems. You obviously need to make a change. So do it. Or else I'll be driving to American Fork to donate and Biolife and I'll be back in a shorter amount of time even with a 30 minute drive both ways. read more

Some of the employees doing sticks are absolutely great. However, they are rushed by the big bosses in the back room that just care about money. It's a little scary to have huge needles around at be at the mercy of someone with in a hurry. They are always always always short staffed and the managers just don't care to hire sufficient so the floor employees are working their guts out, pulling the weight of what needs to be 2-3 employees, just trying to get paid to meet their rent and pay tuition. Shame on the big dogs not caring about donors waiting 30-50 minutes to donate and rushing all the low level employees. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would without a doubt. I have never written let alone posted reviews on good or bad companies that I have interacted with, but my experience at Grifols Plasma Center has left me no choice. On Monday May 7th I went to donate plasma for the second time at this particular plasma center, and over 1 week later my arm looked horrendous. The bruising, swelling, and pain throughout my whole arm has progressively gotten worse as time goes on. I contacted Grifols to explain what happened to see how they normally handle these situations, or if this is even normal at all. I had them look at it and it was so bad one of the phlebotomists wanted to take a picture. They told me to call a manager for compensation, after many transferred calls and even more wasted time on the phone, I was offered $5 compensation. Five dollars. Not an apology, not an explanation, and nothing more to make up for the other times I could have donated plasma since then. I am completely disgusted with how they handled this situation; people donate plasma to help those in emergency situation, who need frequent blood transfusions, surgeries, etc. People don't donate plasma to become impaired themselves or to be in pain and have traumatic bruising for weeks on end. This happened because of the unprofessional care of the phlebotomists hired at Grifols, the lack of attention to detail, and disregard for taking care of the bodies of donators. I will never be going back to Grifols, and I strongly urge you to think twice before going yourself, as this may very well happen to you too. read more

This place is such a great location to donate at! The staff is very welcoming, and readily available to answer whatever questions you may have. Their appointment system is very easy to use once you understand how to use it - they give you 5 minutes before/after your schedule time to show up. Ever since they've put the appointment system in place I get through relatively quickly! Quick shoutout to Jake L! Such a friendly worker, always walks you through what he's doing. He also holds a conversation with you to help keep your mind off the needle being stuck into your arm. This donation center has such a positive atmosphere. Highly recommend! read more

Since my last review, Biomat has started scheduling appointments. I can only assume this was intended to limit the number of donors during busy times. In the last week I have used the new scheduling system, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. Both times I had to wait 15+ minutes AFTER getting through the digital survey to get into the ONE screening room opened. Personnel don't seem to mind that there are 3 employees working the front desk and only one person screening donors. Question to Biomat: What's the point of scheduling "donations" if you're creating an artificial bottleneck? read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I repeat DO NOT GO HERE. Got told my hematocrit was 37%, when donating eligibility is 38%, after a person in training poked my finger twice and still did not fill the hematocrit tub fully. After the person training her didn't correct her or step in, the person in training tested the NOT FULL tube of blood (not to the line that is necessary and obviously painted on the tube) and then continued to tell me I was not eligible to donate. I regularly test my hematocrit with the same machine at the clinic I work at, AS A NURSE, and I have never been below 40% hematocrit. I asked them to please test me again but she said no. Even though the trainer and I both know she did in inaccurately. That same night, I went to the clinic I work at and had another fellow nurse test my hematocrit...I WAS 41%. Again, eligible to donate. And donating for the first time is when you get paid the most let me remind you. I called to inform them that I was frustrated and they put me on hold for 20 minutes and I had to call back and I am still waiting for a manager to call me. DO NOT GO! I saw the low score with only two reviews, and I had to pitch in my two sense. There are three plasma centers closer to my home than this one. THREE. And I choose to come to this one. I've never waited super long, when I do, they ALWAYS make sure I'm compensated for it, and the staff is awesome. They're always quick to help with ANYTHING that I need, and they make sure that I am well cared for. As a donor, this is critically important to me. After waiting 4+ hours at centers closer to me only to be turned away, I am happy to see such diligence in making sure that my time isn't wasted. Time is money, and $25-$35 isn't worth five hours of my time. 2-3 hours is. I know what the other reviews have said. But honestly, what do you think they do when you donate blood? It takes time to process and manufacture things, and no matter what it takes, donating IS saving lives. Without people doing it, broke college students or no, people go without medical needs being met. In all seriousness, if you need an extra $240/month, and who DOESN'T, take the time and come here to donate. It's SO worth it. They'll take great care of you. read more

Just not a professional place at all. I've donated at 3 different places before and this place was the worst, and the phlebotomists infiltrated my veins about 25% of time, causing me not to be able to donate sometimes for a few weeks each time. Please go somewhere else if you want to be treated courteously and professionally, and if you like your veins. The place said walk-ins welcome, but I was not welcome the first time, they told me they were busy and I should come back on a day they weren't busy (didn't suggest a day or anything). I'm just not sure how they advertise walk-ins and then treat them poorly. Literally the only reason they are in business is because they are right next to BYU/UVU, otherwise they would go under treating people this badly. read more

I have since gone to Biolife in Spanish Fork which is a world of difference. I do not get as much money as Biomat gave me per donation, but it is worth the respect I receive and the less time per donation. I used to have no problem with this place. I donated years ago and had a positive experience. But recently this place has made me so upset. They now have an appointment system which is totally understandable. In my first time returning in 2 years, nobody told me I had to schedule appointments online now. So I show up and I get a lecture about how I need to make appointments to donate. Okay, no big deal l thought. A few weeks later I was late and got a lecture from some office lady in a very condescending tone in front of everyone who was waiting. I apologized. I just didn't know that it was such a big deal. Today I went in for an appointment at 6:45pm. I walked in at 6:52pm and was TURNED AWAY. They gave my spot to someone else. That is just wrong. The dynamics of this place is ridiculous. I can see them giving my spot up if I'm 30 minutes late, but 7 minutes? Seriously? That is awful customer service. That is not how you treat someone who is giving you business. I can even understand 15 minutes, but 7 minutes is flat out wrong to someone who takes time out of their day to donate and make money and cancel other plans and opportunity costs to be there. read more

A person cannot be a long term donor at Biomat. At first, when you are a new donor, things run smooth and nice with the employees. As you become a regular donor for years, things to bad when interacting with some staff members. They talk to you extremely bad and pit donors against one another so the donors, who don't even know each other, can argue with each other for no reason. If some staff members don't like you, watch out. They will make your donation experience awful and uncomfortable. They will lie and make up something on you to get you banned from Biomat. Also, I have to say, there are some good staff members that are just great with the donors. When it comes to staff members, at Biomat located in Penn Hills, they have a high turnover rate. Overall, there needs to be a lot of changes at Biomat at concerning the staff interactions with the donors. read more

This place has been getting progressively worse. Every employee seems unhappy and they go to great lengths to avoid helping you unless you're a pretty girl... Which I'm not. My paperwork seems to always get misplaced or I have to wait to see 10 people that checked in after me get called in before me. Some employees can be nice but they always seem to be fighting about who gets a break next. I end up waiting while a disgruntled employee takes their sweet time to get to me because they are mad they had to cover my station. I wish this only happened once but every time I go I seen to be such in a loop of bad experiences. The employees seem to love their job when they are flirting with each other and other donors, but they look like they want to shoot themselves when they finally get to me. All in all it's frustrating when a cute little dainty girl or guy I guess(we have to be politically correct) gets out in a third of the time as me and gets paid the same, I just want to scream. I'm sure it's not just the employees fault solely but probably the management's as well because it's been crappy for a long time. I know it sounds like I'm always pissed off when I go donate but that's not true. I'm always happy when i go because I'm about to make money sitting in a chair while I watch a movie or read, but poor customer service overpowers my love for getting paid to watch awesome movies. I used to love coming here. Everyone was friendly and nice and it's a quick way to make money. Fast forward two years I still need the money but the quality of my experience there has greatly decreased. The biggest issue is how long you have to wait. They just don't care about how long you have wait. People that have come in after me are done before I even get hooked up to the machine. Part of the wait time comes from the male employees (which dominate their staff) catering to the pretty girls. They put them first despite other doners getting there before the girls. It is highly unprofessional to be flirting with the female doners and ignoring the other doners they are supposed to be helping. I'm always friendly and courteous to the staff but they are either inattentive to me (since their attentions are to the girls) or they are cranky and act as if they don't want to be there either. To add to the amount of wait time, the pre-screen booths take forever since you have to wait for the computer to read the questions to you, which you can't hear, and it reads them so slow and you can't press your answer until it's done reading it. So to wrap it up, this place would be great if I was a 110 pound attractive girl.... read more

Hi. This is in response to some of the one star ratings. First to the person who is upset they pay $25 and charge $1000 for a bottle of plasma. There are other overhead costs you may not be thinking of such as the rent or payment for the building they are in, payroll, utilities, equipment they must maintain, plus the supplies they use to sent up the machine for your donation. I have never had a long wait time and I think there customer service is great. I am always greeted with smiling happy employees. I have never seen the employees give preference to someone because of there gender. To the person who waited an hour why didn't you say something sooner? I don't think the appoint systems is to limit people but to make sure they are staffed. I would like those people who rated them low to think about the place they work. Are you and your employees always doing things perfect. Have there ever been any complaints about service at the place you work. I am sorry you have had bad experiences there but I love the staff and they do a fantastic job. read more
