I went…read morethere Thursday at about 6:40-6:45 and their security guard was outside telling people that they were closed "they were short staffed" because a staff member had a death in the family and that they had to get people out of there all day. I look inside, there were 8-10 people in line and they were still taking plasma. Not to be disrespectful or callous but the whole thing reeked of bullshit. I understand that things could happen but if it was that bad, why not just send out an email, text, or message through the app and shutdown earlier rather than just keep having a normal business day and then sending security out and writing a note to close 15-20 minutes early when you can't just shutdown and leave anyway? It's a gamble coming there because if they want to mail it in, you basically wasted your time and travel. They don't let you fill out your intake early anymore beyond 30 minutes and you often have to redo it because the wait is so long. According to their own rules, if you're in before closing and you pass your screening, you'll be seen. It's just on you to complete the donation. You also have to watch some of those screeners because they can bullshit you too and defer you just to get you out because they want to chill. You basically have to write off 3-4 hours minimum to donate. Besides the chronic short staffing, you have to factor in employee breaks and people cutting line. When it comes to line cutting, you have to be aware at all times because people will literally walk in and not only try to get in front of you but will cut the entire line. People will also let randoms with sob stories cut or reserve spots for their friends. Waiting for the place to open is even worse since you're outside and line cutting and fighting is even worse then. The employees, management, and security don't pay attention and won't do shit when you try talking to them but they'll throw you and whoever's starting shit out if you stand up for yourself. Hell, I've seen them call the police to throw somebody out who complained out loud when the employees were watching TV instead of sticking donors. There's also been cases before where they'll send security out to try and keep people from coming in well before closing with some crazy excuse but they're still up and running. Another tactic they do is to offer an express pass to come back tomorrow when they're in the mood to fuck off. The problem with that is they don't allow them to be used after 5PM and it only applies to the screening line instead of the full visit like Octapharma designed. Contacting corporate is useless since the communication is redirected to them rather than someone with oversight. They basically get to run themselves.

My neighbor suggested I try BioLife, so I went to this location on Richmond Avenue. There was only one person at the Check-In counter so I had to wait 20 minutes. Once I checked in, which took 5 minutes, I waited another 5 minutes before seeing the first screening unit. The screening took about 5 minutes. I then waited for 10 minutes to visit with a nurse for a physical exam. The exam lasted only 5 minutes. The nurse told me I was not eligible to donate because I had a pacemaker. That's odd. I've been donating for years with a pacemaker without a single problem. I asked the nurse why the disqualification wasn't posted on their website. The nurse didn't apologize. So, I wasted $45 on Uber and 1 hour of waiting in lines just to be denied. This place was a zoo. They were short staffed which caused very long lines. I only met one staffer who was pleasant, the rest appeared to be rushed and unconcerned. One nurse appeared to be frantic while trying to move customers along. After witnessing all of this, I can't imagine why anyone would go here except those who were hard pressed to get some money. Thanks, but no thanks. I went here with a friend for a couples massage during a midweek spa visit, thinking it would be a…read morerelaxing experience since it was not very busy. I had actually been here a few years ago and remembered it being decent, which is why I suggested it. Unfortunately, this visit was one of the worst massage experiences I have ever had. Before the appointment, we both clearly noted that we wanted strong pressure and listed the areas that needed attention. I specifically mentioned knots in my back and neck, and my friend noted pain and tension in her shoulders and upper back. Despite that, there was almost no pressure during either of our massages. I even asked during the session for more pressure, but I was ignored. The entire experience was uncomfortable. During the hot compress and hot stone portion, one of the therapists kept placing the hot stones directly on the massage bed near me. Because of that, I kept accidentally touching them during the massage, and they were hot enough to burn me. More than once I reacted because it hurt. My friend even asked me if I was okay because she could hear me reacting. At first she thought maybe it was from too much pressure, but I told her it was actually because the hot stones kept burning me where they had been left on the bed. The therapist was aware this was happening and still did not move them or put them somewhere safer. That was not only uncomfortable, it felt careless and unsafe. When it came time for the actual massage, very little oil was used, to the point that it felt rough and uncomfortable on the skin. I asked for more oil more than once and again was ignored. Since it was supposed to be a quiet and relaxing environment, I did not want to make a scene, and I assumed maybe my friend was having a better experience, so I tried to get through it. Afterward, my friend immediately said she also had a bad experience. She mentioned that she usually relaxes enough to fall asleep during massages, but this time she could not because it was so uncomfortable. She also said she barely felt like she received a real massage and that her problem areas were not addressed at all. We both had very specific tension points, and neither of us felt that those areas were worked on in any meaningful way. What made the situation worse was how it was handled at the front desk and by the manager. When I politely explained that neither of us had a good experience, the first response I got was asking whether I was paying for both services together or separately. There was no acknowledgment of the complaint itself. When I asked if there was a manager or owner I could speak with, one of the front desk staff walked away without explaining what was happening, while the other just continued processing payment. When the manager finally came out, her response was dismissive and defensive. Instead of listening, she basically implied that even though I requested strong pressure, the therapist may not have been able to provide it because of my body size and because the therapist was smaller. That was inappropriate and unprofessional. If that was truly the issue, it should have been communicated beforehand instead of giving me a poor service and then explaining it away afterward. I also specifically mentioned the issue with the hot stones burning me and being left on the bed, and that concern was completely ignored as well. That was one of the most upsetting parts of the experience because it was a legitimate safety issue, not just a matter of preference. I also got the impression that the therapists were inexperienced. The manager's attitude only made things worse. She kept focusing on the payment and mentioned that she could have given 10% off, as though that addressed the actual problem. I was never refusing to pay. I simply wanted the business to acknowledge that the service was poor and handle the complaint professionally. Even the refund and recharge process for the discount turned into an awkward and unnecessary ordeal. On top of that, the manager suggested bringing the therapist out to question things directly, which felt confrontational and uncomfortable, especially since we were calm and respectful the entire time. Overall, the massage itself was poor, but the customer service afterward was what really guaranteed I will not return. There are too many good massage places in Houston to spend money somewhere that provides such an uncomfortable experience and then responds with attitude instead of accountability. I would not recommend this place.

As other yelpers indicate, you are greeted with tea on your way in and I chose a mimosa on the way out. Then, they give you slippers to walk from the lobby to your room. Mine were way too large and kept coming off down the hallway. The massage I chose lasted 1 hour and the best part of course was when they walk on you since they get a little deeper that way. It's just a completely different feeling than a masseuse using their hands. Overall, customer service was excellent throughout the entire visit from all employees. The interior appeared to be fairly clean as well, as this is a legit massage place.

With such an active lifestyle, discovering River Oaks Drip Spa (RODS) a few years back was an absolute game-changer. Initially drawn in by their Cryotherapy, Infrared Sauna, and Red Light Therapy (all fantastic, by the way), I never planned to venture into their IV drip offerings. Truth is, I have a pretty intense blood-injection-injury phobia, meaning needles into veins usually equals me feeling faint. But there's something about RODS's calm, welcoming atmosphere--and my own relentless desire to challenge myself--that convinced me to give their Myer's Drip a chance. I'm so glad I took that leap. Here's an insider tip: Tracey is genuinely the best nurse I've ever encountered. She's incredibly skilled, attentive, and comforting--honestly, she's the only person I trust with needles. The first time she did my drip, I didn't even feel the needle at all. That's pure talent. These days, juggling life as a father of four young kids, a thriving professional and national speaker, and Spartan athlete, my schedule and energy demands are intense. RODS has become indispensable for my preparation and recovery routine. If you've ever been curious about IV drip therapy or wellness treatments but hesitated, do yourself a favor and visit River Oaks Drip Spa. Trust me, you won't regret it. In fact, writing this review reminds me--it's about time I schedule my next drip!

The Yelp Deal: If you purchase this Yelp deal, you are only getting $10 off. It is NOT paying for a treatment. You will be charged another $99 when you go (total charge of $189 for a service that is normally $199). Also, double check the 5-star reviews - most are more than two years old and posted by people with few friends and even fewer reviews. Booking online: As soon as you book online via their website, you'll receive a phone call from someone confirming the appointment and asking if you have any questions. Keep in mind that the website does not mention how much services are going to cost unless you pre-pay with PayPal. So, I booked online with the pay later option then got the Yelp deal thinking I was covered for the treatment. Cost of the treatment is not a question I would have thought to ask the person confirming my appointment. Check in: You fill out some paper work and sign a few documents. Nothing too terrible or time consuming. Keep in mind that I arrived at my appointment 30 mins early and got into the room 10 mins early. At no time during the check-in process was I told how long the treatment would take but based on my research online, I had planned about 30 minutes. Consultation: Courtney took me to a private room and because I thought I was talking to a medical professional on my first visit, I went into a quick recap of what I was hoping to accomplish with these treatments. Courtney was overwhelmed by more than, "I'll take the vitamin bag" and called in Kirk to talk to me and to make me a custom bag. STOP SCANNING - THIS PART IS IMPORTANT: At this point in the visit, it still hasn't occurred to me how easily I'm convinced that people wearing scrubs are medical professionals and now that I think about it, at no point in this process was anyone referred to as a Doctor. Blood work: You sign a document that says you understand that blood work needs to be done prior to IV Treatment but the fact that they don't tell you what they're checking for (besides blood count) makes me very, very uncomfortable. They have your blood by your consent and you have no idea what they're going to do with it or who they are going to send it to. My anxiety takes me to a place where my blood results are now going to be sold with my credit score on the dark web or used in some sort of cloning experiment funded by ancestry.com. Seriously, I just gave them my blood with absolutely no follow up questions? I'm an idiot. The treatment: Courtney brings in a bag of yellow fluid and tells me that the chair I'm sitting in can recline if I want it to. I confirm that it should take about 30 mins and he says, "maybe 45." BTW, it took my bag an hour to drain. He checked on me a couple of times but only offered me a call button at the end of my treatment... to let him know when the bag was empty. If you decide to do this, please remember to ask for a blanket beforehand. I didn't realize how cold the fluids would be going into your body and of course that temperature is going to end up throughout your entire body. They did not offer a blanket or water or anything except the Counting Crows Pandora channel to listen to while I was in the room. An hour of the Counting Crows channel on Pandora. Please remember to bring your headphones. Check out: When I complained about the wait time, the new admin at the front desk told me to ask for the short bag next time. Seriously? Next time? Why wasn't that an option given to me THE FIRST TIME?! For those of you still convinced you want to do this, please (for me), ask for a blanket and the short bag. And if you could find out what they're doing with our blood, that would be fantastic. Also, she didn't know how to ring up the Yelp deal because I'm apparently the only person who has ever fallen for it. I arrived 30 mins early and was there for an hour and 40 mins in the middle of my work day. Considering their hours of operation, the cost, and the wait time - this is clearly not a service targeted to anyone who works regular business hours or (let's face it) even works at all. If this review saves one person $199... I'll feel way better than I did after this treatment. Let's talk about how I feel: Like someone who wasted money paying the tab for someone they just spent two unproductive hours with and who they are never going to call again. And two hours later, my urine is the same color as the fluid they had in the bag. Coincidence? Bonus: While I was impressed (and maybe a little hurt) that they didn't try to upsell me to anything else they were selling in the building (Lipo, Saxenda, Botox), I do feel like they are missing a HUGE marketing opportunity by not offering a Super Soldier discount - a bag a week for only $10,000 (That's a savings of $348)!

We are hoping the Myers IV will help with her energy and recovery. We call in to check if we can come in that day and the price of the IV. We was told there are 2 types of Myers Cocktail IV , 1) $150 @) $199. There is no price chart in this office or on the website so it hard to argue with them. I felt confident that I didn't ask for $275 option b/c in my mind my budget was under $200. However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that there might be a misunderstanding or miscommunication between us and the office. But at the end we had to pay for more than what we were quoted for. That did not sit well with us. If you decided to give this place a try for whatever reason, make sure to write down the price and the services they quoted you for. The staff was nice and friendly, it hard for me to know who is responsible for this shady transaction, did they follow the business owner instruction? or was it their way of doing business. Why waste your money and have to deal with this. We will never come back here again.

They got a 30-minute lesson per week and I didn't see any of it since the school brings them there and takes them back. However, my daughter did like it so I kept them in mind and she was comfortable in the water, which is great. She's now 7 and I enrolled her and her 3 year old brother over the summer in the same class. Now, because I take them, I get to see it all first hand. First off, the staff are all helpful and attentive. No problems on that end. There's an annual membership fee plus $120 per month per person, though they do offer a free trial class before you make it official. The cost includes one 30-minute GROUP class (2-3 people) per week and if you want more swimming days, it's another $120 per day each week. I was going to shop around but my daughter liked Wolfies so we stuck with them. You drop them off about 5 minutes before their time slot and the teachers wind down about 3 minutes before the end of the time slot. Because of that, I wouldn't say it's exactly a full 30 minutes you get, but it's close. They do talk to you about your child(ren's) progress or any notes when you pick them up, which is nice. You make an account on their website and it's easy to mark an absence and schedule a make up. You can mark the absence up until the minute before your class begins so that's great. My only complaints: - Because my daughter started in the summer and we had the bad luck to choose a time slot with an instructor who would be leaving 2 weeks later, there were a number of weeks where their instructors kept on changing, especially when school started and one that seemed settled changed because of class conflict. That really set her back from getting promoted to the next level. - Within our 4 months at Wolfies, we've had 3-ish classes that were cancelled on their end due to accidents (vomiting/defecating) in the pool. In fact, 1 of those times, I was en route and the second, we were already there. You do get an automatic make up credit but it can be difficult depending on other commitments. I have both of my kids in the same time slot so I have to hunt for make up classes with 2 openings. - You'll need more than just 1 class per week to see results unless you've got easy access to a pool to practice in. They do offer special classes (every day during certain times of the year, private, and holiday camps) and I highly recommend those if you want to get your child that edge and have the financial means. I saw a marked improvement with my daughter after she participated in summer camp (albeit 3/5 days because she got sick the SUNDAY before - no credit/refund without a doctor's note, by the way) 2 months into classes. Her instructors (2 different ones) for the 2 classes after said she was ready to test to the next level, but then some cancelled classes and instructor changes later, she's now "almost there but not quite ready yet" which honestly irritates me a bit. Progress will feel stagnant eventually from when I've spoken to other parents unless you get in extra time. - Only the front office and upstairs room where parents can sit and wait/watch are air conditioned (but it's not very consistent). The pool, changing rooms and bathrooms are NOT and I am dripping with sweat after I help my kids out of their bathing suits and into their regular clothes. I don't mind too much about the pool area but those changing and restrooms are stifling with full on humidity and heat. The pool has these garage type doors that are opened and... I really hate summer. Hah. Pool area has some air flow so not as bad but not so much for those enclosed changing rooms.. - Thirty minutes isn't that long, especially if your class has the full 3 people in it. That's roughly 10 minutes per student and even less if one of them is upset. Instructors do try their best to give each student an equal amount of attention though. It's been 4 months and my eldest is still Level 2. To think she could have gotten promoted 2 months ago! They do the same thing in every class for that level so the content is predictable. We'll stay here until the year is up and go from there and I really hope she'll get promoted by then if not sooner. The good thing is my kids do seem to like it and the instructors try to make it fun and comfortable for those on the fence.
