I have been donating my O-neg blood and plasma for many years after getting a pacemaker. I am 77 years old. My neighbor suggested I try BioLife, so I went to this location on Richmond Avenue. There was only one person at the Check-In counter so I had to wait 20 minutes. Once I checked in, which took 5 minutes, I waited another 5 minutes before seeing the first screening unit. The screening took about 5 minutes. I then waited for 10 minutes to visit with a nurse for a physical exam. The exam lasted only 5 minutes. The nurse told me I was not eligible to donate because I had a pacemaker. That's odd. I've been donating for years with a pacemaker without a single problem. I asked the nurse why the disqualification wasn't posted on their website. The nurse didn't apologize. So, I wasted $45 on Uber and 1 hour of waiting in lines just to be denied. This place was a zoo. They were short staffed which caused very long lines. I only met one staffer who was pleasant, the rest appeared to be rushed and unconcerned. One nurse appeared to be frantic while trying to move customers along. After witnessing all of this, I can't imagine why anyone would go here except those who were hard pressed to get some money. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll continue to donate for free at Gulf Coast Blood Centers where I'm surrounded by pleasant staff and get free snacks, including Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. read more

Scheduled my appointment online for first time donor from the time I walked in the building until the time I left everyone was very informative and kind. The office is clean and the music playing in background gives a good comfortable feel to the environment. My nurse practitioner was amazing she informed me of every step I would be taking including a protein shake, nutrients drink to help with my donation and aftercare tips. The donation beds are separated into sections and you are given a color to go to. I was aqua my phlebotomist Sade was incredible. She had gentle hands. I barely felt my stick. She is highly recommended. My donation lasted about 30 minutes and Sade informed me of the process to wait 15 minutes after donating just to make sure I am feeling ok to leave. I love donating as my way to help people in need and this location made me feel appreciated. Thank you Biolife team for the great experience! read more

I had an appointment to donate plasma on 1/19/2026 at 3:00pm. I checked in as normal and waited for a bed. Everything is good until I laid down on the bed and the Phlebotomist attempted to draw my blood. After she stuck my right arm she said my blood was not flowing and then called for another Phleb to try something. The other Phleb attempted do something, I don't know what and she never said, but whatever she did caused blood to splatter all over me. There were blood spots all over me. She said "sorry" and that was it and attempted to continue doing something. I did not feel comfortable from that point and told her to stop what she was doing. She said "well you'll only get half of the compensation for not completing the draw". I told her to get a supersvisor as that was not my concerned. A man arrived claiming he was a supervisor with not identification. He immediately started telling me to go to the dry cleaners and bring back receipt for compensation. I told blood does not come out and especially after it has been sitting. He said it does and that he has seen it happen. I asked if the dry cleaner says that they cannot get it out then what. He said have them dry clean it and bring back the receipt. My outfit was a $50 outfit gone down the drain and that's the best he could? So another guy arrives, Eugene, and what's to jump in the argument as if he was going to get me together. I asked him for the policy that recites those instructions. His eyes rolled and he referred me to the website. During our exchange I told him I was calling corporate and I asked for their names. He said he wasn't giving me their names. He again referred me to the website for corporates number and said that I could leave. I was able to see his name on his ppe mask and said "oh I see your name is Eugene". He became annoyed and walked away as I gathered my things. He said "good luck with your dry cleaning", "I hope you have a good day". The treatment that I expereinced at this facility is telling about their thoughts, professionalism, and lack of client care management skills at a super high degree.They treat donaters horribly. I was apprensive about even going to this place to begin with but I'm currently facing a hardship due to loss of employment. It doesn't even really matter why people are donating but the place is always packed with donors and that's job security for them, so as an evern exchange, they should treat people with dignity and respect. They don't know anyone's story that walks through the doors. That could have been the only outfit that I have and it could have been given to me so that I could have something decent and clean to wear. I'm outraged at the lack of compassion and snarky nice nasty condensending attitude that I received from Eugene. I'm sure he's yound enough to be my son. I cannot find a number to corporate anywhere. I am going to take my clothes to the cleaners as they stated and hoping they keep their word. If they do not, I am requesting full compensation for that donation based on the promo I signed up for and full reimbursement for my dry cleaning bill. read more

I donate all the time and it usually is such an easy process other than long lines but doesn't bug me too much since I get that there's a lot of donors. Only thing I can really complain about is some techs need more training instead of deferring someone because a tech doesn't know what they're doing. Stay away from a girl named Merlin, every time I get her it's always a problem. She's messed up my arm multiple times leading to a deferral or always having to run back in for a rewrap because blood leaks out. Other than that most techs I get make the process so easy. read more

just from my experience with them, I will say that this establishment not have their stuff together. Unfortunately, as much as I really wanted to donate plasma today, I scheduled it all via the app because that's how they had it set up for new donors, so I went on the app and set up my appointment for 6:40 seeing as that is the time I'm available. i've had all my paperwork with me. I went to the front desk and waited to be seen as instructions in front of the computers there and I was just stared at until they said do you need help and I said yes I'm a new donor and the lady told her coworker next to her that I was a new donor and before even talking to me she goes I'm gonna reschedule her. I understand if their policy is not to take new donors an hour prior to closing, but I think that should be taken off as an option for new donors, because I drove all the way over here from Cinco Ranch to come.. My husband and I consider ourselves pillars of the community! We donate often. Blood, plasma etc.. Today we're leaving a review with a heavy heart. "MARIA" which was the lady assisting walk in customers. Very rude, short temper and felt as if we were being discriminated against. My husband requested to speak with a manager to file a complaint on the service that we're receiving. Yet, the manager never came nor would the manager provide her name when we asked the security for the manager info. He advised that he did not know it. Sad to say each person that comes into the BioLife building is there to not only provide help but to save someone's life who needs Plasma!! I have had no issues at the Richmond Ave location in Houston. Quinn does a terrific job testing before you are able to donate, friendly and does it all with care. I really like Emily she is so sweet and takes her job very seriously. There are other gals but I can't remember their names they are so friendly and take great care of everyone sitting in their section. read more

While BioLife truly has a solid team of screener's phlebotomists, what it DOESN'T have is competent management. A flurry of "unqualified" assistants (LIZ) are allowed to demean and abuse dedicated donors and Corporate policy because there's no real accountability at the clinic level! read more

For the most part my experiences are good here but they never get back to you. I have called and left several msg to get my results back for a protein test that they sd would take 7-9 days and it's been 2 wks and no one has emailed, or returned a single one of my plethora of msgs. The last time I was there I wasted an 1 and 1/2 of my time just to find out I needed the results of my protein blood test if I could donate. When we make an Appointment for a Physical exam and Donation we are then told that Biolife can't scheduled our Exam today. And they won't have any available appointments until SEPT 14 ! Then why mislead clients into showing up believing that they will be Examined the same day? Also their is an older black lady with gray hair that doesn't wear any name tag and talks to clients like they are kids. She walks outside to say that 6 more people can come in. Don't waste your time. Appointments are worthless, I showed up 15 minutes early and still sat for an hour before being seen only to be told that they will not take anyone with sleeve tattoos because they refuse to stick through ink even if you have veins they can use, and they require that you can use both arms. This isn't listed anywhere on their website, by the way. I walked in with a fully visible tattoo - why make me sit a full hour? Incompetent and wasteful. Are you sure you're desperate for donors, because your employees' attitudes say otherwise. Let's start with the rude girl at the front desk, who was also a condescending liar on the phone. Not the professional introduction to the company that anyone would expect and deserve. She told me 3 times to go behind Target... doesn't she know where she works? She also claimed that I couldn't use my electric bill to verify my address. When I arrived, I discovered that my appointment didn't exist on their printed list, so she (no idea her name since she covered it up with her lab coat, but I took pictures) makes an appointment for the next day... with someone else's name! Scheduling is not rocket science. The desk clerks made the executive decision to see me anyway, but after waiting an hour and I still had not been called, I had to reschedule. I was given an official appointment card for appointment #3. I arrived Saturday 9am. I told that girl how she mistakenly scheduled someone else's name instead of mine, and instead of apologizing, she snapped at me and lied again, in front of her co-workers. Every one in line was discussing the scheduling and other service issues with this and the 1960 location, so I'm not alone in experiencing frustrations at their incompetence. Then I'm told that, although I have not donated at the 1960 location, they had to call a manager to "release" me. I was assured this would be completed by the end of the day. It was not even done by Monday night. While I waited 20 minutes for her to make that phone call away from the front desk, she left my social security card and driver's license face up within view of everyone checking in. I took pictures. I called both facilities non-stop all morning and afternoon Monday, yet no one answered the phone nor returned my calls as promised. My $200 per visit voucher expires after tomorrow.
