(Hear me out) This place is not as bad. From reading the reviews I was a bit scared to come in. But I have been coming for 3 months and some of the staff is great. Others may not talk as much but still pretty friendly. If you're new just make sure to ask for someone in a black coat, they know what they're doing. Update: When it's your 8th donation and they add $60 on top of what amount you're already going to get from donating that day, you may get a high pulse, low/high temperature reading, low count on your needle prick at your vital check. Then you can't donate and loose out on all the money you would have gotten that day. This has happened to me twice with my pulse on my 8th donation day. I'm going to stop donating because of this. FYI BpL that Money was going to my kids to eat so thank you for that. I donate in between paychecks because after bills I need a little extra cash. read more

Took two pre donation blood pressure screens this morning. First was 85/59 with 120 pulse rate. Retake was 159/90 with 79 pulse rate. There were more people waiting for retakes that waiting in line for initial screening. A staff member told me that corporate had been informed of problems with the new blood pressure reading system, but don't seem eager to do anything about it. Been donating here over 5 years. After two time wasting attempts with their new faulty system, I'm pretty sure today will be my last visit. read more

god awful people. the app or hub they had sent me 35 minutes to the wrong spot. I then had to use 15$ of gas and a hour of time to drive to this location. just to be turned down for a level being one point off and they refused to wait or even check again. basically they said i don't matter and am out of luck. then they told me the people behind me are able to donate today and matter more when I just wanted a better answer to my problem. the lady who it's dark hair and glasses who took my blood basically shooed me off and was so rude, I work in the medical field and have never seen somebody who fits the roll so little. this place has oriole who don't care about you and needs to get their standards upgraded and not waste a hour and a half and a quarter tank of willing donors gas. please re evaluate this girl (refused to give me her name) and see if this is a profession she cares about or has the empathy to be in. i straight up asked her if I should just accept I don't matter and that I'm just a figure in the equation and she then handed me some paper and said yes that's what all of you guys are. sad sad sad, had a great first experience but this was awful. happened Wednesday the 28th at 6:45 pm booth 4 or 5 read more

DCI is a great place to get some extra cash on a regular basis. You can go every 2 days so its a nice constant inflow. Everyone I interacted with was really nice. They explain everything they do so you feel safe. There is a certain payment schedule, but they always give coupons and stuff so you can earn a lot. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the first time takes 3 hrs. HOWEVER, I completely understand why since theyre .making sure youre healthy. Youre also always moving around so the 3 hrs goes by really fast. After the first time its about an hour 1st donation: $20 2nd: $30 3rd: $40 4th: $50 5th: $15 6th: $20 7th: $15 8th: $25 The donation amounts like i said can increase if you get coupons. Dont forget to say where you heard about dci because you get more money. read more

Staff members don't change their gloves between patients. When I asked the person sticking me when the last time she changed her gloves she lied to me. Her gloves had iodine on them so I knew that she hadn't changed them recently. She then admitted to me that she had not changed them. Another staff member stated that she thought the gloves were there to protect staff from patients. When I talked with a manager he told me that they aren't required to change gloves unless they are soiled and that DCI has no policy on changing gloves between patients. read more

I've never donated plasma before, but I needed money for rent so I decided to give this place a try. I've been here twice so far. I went at opening time on a Saturday. There was a huge line but they got everyone in and moving in no time. If you are a first time donor it's going to take a long time, about 3-4 hours. Remember to bring your social security card and proof of residence if you address on your ID isn't current. I had to walk all the way home to get these things, but they gave me $10 extra for the trouble. The staff is very friendly, something I wasn't expecting since I'm sure they deal with some unsavory people from time to time. The screening process is long, especially if you have a lot of tattoos and/or piercings, but they are quick, sometimes too quick. During the questionnaire part they sometimes talked so quickly I had no idea what they were saying. Prepare to have your finger pricked at each visit. Bring a jacket or blanket because the donation room is super cold. Also bring a book or iPod to keep busy. And a stress ball helps since you constantly have to pump your fist throughout the donation process. Ruben (I think his name is) was who stuck me on my first visit and he made me very comfortable. He was very friendly and asked me questions while he was sticking me so I didn't notice it as much. I got $50 on both visits, which is awesome. I know it depends on your weight and how often you donate, but there is room to make some good money. This place exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend it to anyone who has some spare time and could use some extra money. read more

My boyfriend and I have been four times in all (so far) and even though the wait time for a first time donor took nearly four hours, the last three times we've been we got in and out quickly. A few things to note when you go: - Drink a lot of water the day before you go. (1/2 gallon is recommended) - Avoid eating fatty foods before you go, it can prolong the donation process. - Bring a jacket because it's going to be very cold when donating. - Take something to keep you occupied such as a book, phone, iPod, etc. - Each donation is a different denomination. After your 4th donation the pay goes back down to $15. Took literally 5 hours to sign up and go through the whole process. The nurse was terrible. I ended up getting a hematoma from the needle being inserted improperly. While I was sitting there, I saw blood start to drip out of my arm and my bicep started to swell up, it felt terrible. The nurse took the needle out once I told her. I could not bend my arm, I had to drive home with one hand and was not able to lift at the gym for some days. The bruising was so bad and my arm was swollen and hurting for a few days. They said they would call me to check up and see if I was okay, they never did . I am really disappointed in them and surprised that happened. read more

I used to donate plasma at Austin Bio Med in Pflugerville and this place is about a billion times better. It has been a pleasant and easy way to make a little extra money doing something that can always adjust to your schedule. DCI pays pretty well - $25 for your first visit and $40 for the second within a week. They also give lots of bonus coupons so you could make close to $300 a month if you go twice a week. I recommend going with a friend to make the experience even more bearable. One of my favorite things about DCI Biologicals is that they show movies while you're there, which improves the experience more than you'd expect. The people that work there are very nice and seem to enjoy their jobs - Natalia is my favorite. And the BEST thing is that they have Hi-C and Pink Lemonade in the waiting room. I usually bring a water bottle and fill it up (half-and-half) before I leave. Oh the simple pleasures. There are few reasons I didn't give them five stars: 1) I had a wait a really long time on my first visit because they were short staffed. 2) The bathroom was out of order one time. 3) They turned off Clueless after 20 minutes (I was so excited!) the other day and switched it to Disturbia. I like donating plasma here. The wait times are usually short and the staff is usually friendly. There are only a few that really seem like they hate the job but more than likely you won't encounter them and they may already be gone. They said promos through the mail to get more cash and they do have happy hour, text messaging and calls for you to come in. I came here all the time when I was unemployed and the extra cash helped me out at the end of the month. You will see all kinds of people here from college students, homeless, people with white collar jobs, grandpas, moms and dads. My advice to you is to drink water throughout the week if you don't want to be in there forever, and yes bring your ipod, a book, ipad or whatever because it can be boring, and I found that the people with the blankets seemed most comfortable. I never brought a blanket but I wore a hoody because it can be good. The initial sting of introduction can be quite painful but you get used to it. It also leaves a not so attractive scare where the skin is punctured so keep that in mind if you decide to keep going. I am hoping they will send me more coupons or promos in the mail :) read more

I did get through the process at DCI, for the most part the staff is very friendly, but they are very serious about what they do, so after I hurt my thumb I do not know if I will be able to return again. One of the security guards [Ben] I think is a little too strict, but even he eventually got friendly. After my first "donation" I used the money to get a haircut and shave and did not recognize me, so they had to take my picture again. They cut their hours and that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. They are closed on Saturday, and open only 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Very few working people can go now because of the cut in hours. But if you are healthy and can make it between 9-5 on weekdays they are still an excellent place to go. read more

I have been to many plasma centers and this one is like the Mcdonalds of them all. The pay rate is about half of what you can expect at other centers - the flat rate being 15 dollars. There are a few people who work there, who are very nice. Yet, a lot of them fall into one of two categories: people who are new and don't know what they are doing with that needle, and people who've been there so long that they've stopped caring. I got scared off for a few weeks after my blood started pouring into the plasma bottle ... instead of plasma. Don't get me wrong, there's a couple of folks there that take their job seriously and want to make sure that you are a satisfied customer. I appreciate that immensely. At the very least, the wait is never long. Usually, I am in and out in less than an hour. read more

I just donated for the first time at this location. I've been donating plasma for about 12 years, and I've never been through such a strict screening process. I'm understanding of the reasons behind it, but it was more than I've experienced with other plasma collection companies. This was definitely the nicest facility I've ever donated at, and the staff were all helpful and friendly. The first time donor process was more expeditious than any other place I've been to, especially for a Saturday. They provide Gatorade and water, which was nice for after I donated. Once you're in the chair, it's no time at all. The staff all pay close attention to who needs to come off and who needs to go on, and get to you fast. This way of making extra money isn't for everyone, but I'd recommend this location to anyone looking for a few extra dollars to supplement their income. I wish I knew the pay grid to tell you. All I know is I got $20 for my first visit, plus $5 with it being happy hour (which I was told is everyday from 10am-3pm). read more

Ive coming to the airport location for a few months now and there is constantly a problem every time I try to donate. First there's not a medical supervisor, then the booths are not calibrated. It's always something. Instead of staff relaying information they ignore you when there is something going on. Rude staff, horrible management, outrageous unorganization. read more

I have had mixed experiences at DCI Biologicals. The initial donation was the expected 3 hours. Saul was wonderful, got the needle right in, and I donated in 35 minutes with no issues. An easy $25. I went back Sunday for my second donation, and was seated by a different person. This man probed my veins, walked away & came back with a woman, Sarah, who said, "Yes, her veins are really deep. Do you want to do it (my venipuncture) while I watch, or do you want me to do it?" The man replied, "I'll do it." I assumed from his words and actions that he was a newbie, who did not know what he was doing. Everyone has to start somewhere, and at least he was getting a more senior person to help him. The needle went in. He adjusted it, she adjusted it. Over the course of the next hour, two more people (one man, one woman) came over and examined and adjusted my needle. I was asked if I'd ever had problems before. I said no, and asked if it'd be easier if we used my right arm instead. I was told it wouldn't make a difference. The second woman said she'd call over Jared, her supervisor, to look at my arm. Jared the supervisor turned out to be the person I assumed was a newbie who didn't know what he was doing. I found this less than comforting. After an hour, when the donation pretty much stalled out, it was determined the needle had gone *through* my vein. I am willing to admit this was probably partly my fault as well- I may have moved my arm which didn't help. The needle was removed from my left arm, and Jared asked me if I had *any* good veins in my right arm. I told him yes. By this point I was frustrated to the point of tears- the only reason I didn't leave was because I was determined to finish my donation and get my $44. The second part went much better- Jared sent George, a thoroughly wonderful man who got the needle in my right arm with ease, and the rest of my donation took 30 minutes. I wound up with $44 in my pocket, and a 1-2 inch bruise on my left arm- this leaves me wondering. I will give this place another chance, but does anyone know if we can request who does our venipuncture? Saul and George are great, but I'm a bit leery of having Jared stick me again. read more

The guy with the a pony tail asks mew if I was helped agnes I tell him not yet, then asks her and ends up helping her first. So much for me donating. (Only a select few do). 1.) they never change their gloves between people. 2.) they always end up losing my chart. 3.) people always get skipped over because the sign in sheet gets lost. No wonder they don't have their stuff together, they hire anyone if the street like fast food restaurants and then pay them $7.75. I was donating at the Airport location for 3 months. I hated it! But us single parents do what we have to do to make sure our kids have what they need -right? Well I tried the Slaughter Lane Location (since it's the same distance as the airport location) and I was SHOCKED at the HUGE difference! Everyone at the SLAUGHTER LANE LOCATION has been super nice and professional! I mean, they're about to stick a huge needle in my vein, they should be professional right? Well the Slaughter location was amazingly professional and great with the needle. When I went to the Airport location, I would LITERALLY shake and cringe when I would get stuck. At this location, it was like a tiny pinch. PLUS I am 200+lbs and I donate in less than 30 minutes each time! That means that I get a good "stick" each time. The Slaughter Ln location is great! Quick cash for groceries for the week or gas to get you by. I like how professional the staff is the most! PLEASE do not go to the Airport location. Please dont do that to yourself. It's not worth it. Find another way to pick up some extra cash. The management is beyond terrible which makes the rest of the staff just as unprofessional and rude... and dont even get me started on the drunks that walk in! Eek! Don't do it!
