The staff who actually have the certified credentials like the phlebotomists and nurses- are really kind and considerate. The older lady at the front desk um... there's definitely better options in the world. I'd say everyone else gave a 5-star experience but that receptionist... she needs to at least try to make people feel welcomed. read more

I do want to say the staff and nurses are professional and respectful with the way they handle everything, but ever since they brought in the new machines last month I've nothing but problems with the process itself, I've been coming here for over a year and never had any issues with the old machines, even though I did everything that they recommended for the process to go smoothly, it didn't matter. As a result of the new machines us donors are getting deferred left and right, if you're planning on donating don't even bother wasting your time gas or money. To the business owner, I hope you read this and seriously consider bringing back the old machines to help your donors and staff. The new machines are BS, straight up. Everyone has been professional, I have been comfortable, and I haven't had to wait very long if at all. If you're a married homosexual male you will need to lie about having relations with your husband on the questionnaire to be able to to donate otherwise they will defer you for 3 months. Nothing mentioned about this discriminatory practice on any of their website materials. I wasted 2 hours going through numerous questions and tests until the "nurse" spent another 30 minutes asking questions and then telling me that because I was truthful on the questionnaire I'd have to wait 3 months to come back and not be intimate with my husband during that 3 months. Funny thing is I can donate blood with no issues. They're not up to date with their protocols. read more

On Sunday July 7, 2024 I arrived at the Morrow, GA Campus for my 8:15 am appointment. Upon entering, I went over to the registration computer and was not able to log in. There was a message the I was unable to donate today. I inquired with the receptionist and she stated, "There is something my manager needs to do." I waited for the manager Tina to come over to the front desk. She looked at my profile and stated I could not donate with my headwrap/headcovering on. I looked at her puzzeled because when I made my first donation and went through the process on Thursday, July 4, 2024, no one said anything to me about my headcovering/headwrap. I explained to her it was for spiritual purposes. The manager Tina stated, "The only thing we recognize is the Hijab." She then vilolated my Civil liberities by asking what religious practice do I follow. I told her I was not taking off my headcovering/headwrap and they lost a donor. I walked out and went to my car. I then returned to show her my State Drivers License which has my headcovering/wrap in the photo. When I told the manager Tina that on my Government issued ID has my photo with my headwrap/headcovering on. She still proceeded to tell me it was the policy. I located BioLife's non discrimination policy and it clearly states the following: BioLife values all donors and does not discriminate based on race, color, gender, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status, marital status, or any characteristic protected by Federal, state or local law. All donors must meet federal and state eligibility requirements, and all BioLife donor eligibility criteria must be met to protect the donor's health and product safety. I was clearly profiled and discriminated against because I do not wear the traditional Hijab. I addition, I wore my crystal around my neck and had on a t-shirt with the saying "Generational Curse Breaker, Malachi 3:17". It has now been 4 days and I have not received any feed back from anyone at BioLife. I have posted on Facebook, google, sent an email and now here. Someone one from BioLife needs to get back with me. Staff is very nice unfortunately the phlebotomists are really bad at sticking. Alejandro got the job done and under 30 seconds. The other times I went they couldn't find a vein and we're jamming the needle in to my arms rigorously for giving up. read more

Everyone at this location was very professional and nice. They assisted me in a timely manner with my beta testing. so they had advised me that my testing had came back abnormal for my protein. I took the test again for a second time and never heard back from anyone. After several weeks, I contacted them to find out what was the status nurse? I spoke with which was a young lady and she was very rude. She couldn't explain to me what was going on with my testing. She just said that the doctor had reviewed it and advised that I follow up with my physician. I asked her several times what am I following up with my physician for? I asked what should I tell my physician I need. She couldn't even answer my questions. Therefore she got frustrated and she hung up the phone. When I called back, no one answered. She doesn't need to be employed there as a nurse because she is very unprofessional. How can you tell someone that their beta records show that is abnormal but then can explain to them what it is that you need to do and ask your physician for. I would never utilize them for any type of lab work or anything of that nature. If you're just going in there to donate plasma you should be fine but beyond that I DO NOT recommend! read more

I don't even know why they let you make an appointment because they certainly don't staff based on appointments. When I started here almost a year ago they would have 2-4 people doing vitals and then tons (6-10 maybe more) taking blood. Now it's usually 1 doing vitals and sometimes only 2-3 taking blood. So wait went from 1.5-2 hours max to 3-5 hours. More than doubled. And you can "make an appointment" all the way up to almost walking through the door. When they know they are understaffed or behind they should stop taking appointments. There have been many times they have sent people home after 3-4 hours because they were closing and would not have time to donate. Corporate needs to do something. Pay people more so there's less of a turnover rate, quit taking appointments you can't fill etc. Very disappointing. read more

In the past few decades, I've been donating whole blood. Every time the blood bank would come to the office, I am willing to donate. I've even gone to to several locations, just to donate. I have good veins and have often been asked to donate platelets. Because the process is so long, I haven't even attempted. I've heard from others that it could take 3 hours because the machine used to draw your blood separates the red blood cells from the platelets and return red blood cells back to your body. However, the people I knew weren't feeling well afterwards. This made me not willing to donate. Donating plasma seem similar to donating platelets. The difference donating plasma, you get compensated for your time. At first, I was hesitate because I wasn't sure if it was legit. However, I talked to several people who confirmed to me that it is real. Others even say what is the difference in that compared to others who donate platelets and they get vouchers for Six Flags? It's similar, just in different ways. In order to donate, you have to bring in your driver license, SSN, and proof of residence (some kind of mail that is at least 30 days). It takes about 10 minutes to fill out the paperwork and answer questions. Then they take your weight, blood pressure, and prick your finger to check protein and hemoglobin levels. The process to donating plasma for the very first time is time consuming because in addition you have to get a physical. You also have to answer a lengthy questionaire pertaining to your health, it is about 30 minutes or so before you have your physical. During this time, you are given a bottle water and snack. Physical isn't too bad. The doctor goes over any questions that may need to be addressed. They mainly check if you are healthy and are able to move around with no issues. If you have piercings and/or tattoos, they do document that and make notes of it. If you have had it for more than a year, then you are good to donate. If not, you will be rejected. You will get a card and treat it as a debit or credit card. After your donation, the money will be loaded on that card. You could go to any Publix and use their ATM and take the money out. Every visit, you are given a color to see where you are donating in that section. It is color coded depending on vacancy. The process of donating plasma is just really the same as donating blood. Seriously. The difference at the end is saline is put back in your body as a replacement for the plasma taken out of your body. Once you are done, they wrap the area and you are good to go. Each and every visit, you will have to answer some medical questions, not as long as the first time, but also get your blood pressure and finger prick. I came for the second and third time and took less than an hour, about 45 minutes total. The first time, it took almost 3 hours, don't forget, you have to answer a longer medical history questions and get your physical. You do get compensated right away. Each time, after I donate, I call the number to check the balance and it's there. You do have to make an appointment each time when you visit. You could do it online or call them. They even have an extra computer for you make your appointment for next time before you leave. What I learn is that it takes at least two plasma donations for someone to receive. They encourage you to come back to donate within that same week. The experience was great. Definitely worth a trip. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. The facility is clean. Both my wife and my daughter went to this business this past week. They gave my wife two hematomas (one in each arm, same visit) and my daughter a hematoma in her arm. This place is DANGEROUS, and clearly have inexperienced staff. I have been in the medical industry for 23 years and have never heard of this happening anywhere. If you're considering going here, don't. it's not worth sacrificing your health for a few bucks. They should be shut down. read more

No matter how many people there are, the wait is ridiculous! This ends up being a 3 hour ordeal no matter what time my appointment is or how many people are in front of me. My appointment was at 6:45. Saw the intake person right away but haven't been acknowledged since. 45 minutes later and only 2 people ahead of me. Ridiculous! read more

Used to be ok in the beginning. Now they're hiring anybody it seems. Employees don't know how to properly put on the cuff, injecting the needle any kind of way.. me and two other people that I know donate have excessive bruising due to improper injections. All that to say, the amounts that they've been paying us is ridiculous. You have to go twice a week to receive up $110-$130. The first visit is always the lowest amount. They give you $30-$40... then the second visit is when they'll give you $80-$90. But who wants to keep going back if the staff are messing up your arm and you barely get accommodated for what it's worth? Over them. Front of the house crew is great! It's just some of the nurses who are in the back, that's ridiculous. read more

Ridiculous wait time. Made an appointment only to be in line 2 hours before even getting to get stuck to donate. Lines are wrapped around the walls and there's on to people doing the sticking on the donation floor. This is a regular occurrence at the Duluth location. You stand in line for hours only for them to continue to bring new donors and put them in the front of the line so your waiting starts over. The only positive is that the people are friendly, there are 2 techs that work multiple stations at a time Ashley and Shameka are the saviors at this location. read more

Biolife is a joke! I waited 4 hours for a physical at a location 30 min away.. I had to leave to pick my son up for school and I was told I can show up next time for a donation. So I left. Came back waited in line for an hour for a finger prick only for them to tell me I had to do another physical. So I came today for a physical. I was a few min late due to traffic and since the people scheduled 20 min after me were already there, they wouldn't accept me. I have wasted 5+ hours of my time and paid for a babysitter and still haven't been able to donate. read more

I've been donating twice a week for several months. There is only one technician (Paula) I have had that is at all competent. With everyone else, I either have had SEVERE bruising (literally from my elbow to my wrist) or the stick is painful and improperly placed so that the flow is painful and slow. Many times the technician has had to try and adjust the needle while it's stuck in my arm (which really hurts). One time, while a tech was adjusting the needle, blood spurted out everywhere - all over her mask and lab coat as well as all over me. Another time, I was on the donation table for 2 hours and was able to donate only half of the allotted amount because the needle was improperly placed, despite having to be stuck in both arms. I went back 3 days later when Paula was working and she did it with no problem at all. But you should know, you can't make your appointment with a particular technician. Even if you can confirm that a particular tech is scheduled (and that's not always easy), there's no guarantee that you can get her. I have gone in for my appointment even when Paula is working and said I would be willing to wait until she is available, but was told that I couldn't. Today I went in at my scheduled appointment time and was kept waiting over an hour before I finally went to the front desk and asked how much longer it would be. I was told there were still 5 people ahead of me. I must stress, I was NOT a walk-in. I had an appointment. I then discovered that Paula was at a different facility for the week. That did it. I left without donating. You should also know, if you're drawn in because of the money you get for donating, beware. If you only donate once a week, you get $20. Period. Regardless of how many weeks in a row you donate. It's the 2nd donation in the SAME WEEK that pays more (depending on the promotion they have going on and how long you've been donating. If you donate twice a week for week 1, you're a Bronze member; twice a week for the 2nd CONSECUTIVE week, Silver; twice a week for the 3rd CONSECUTIVE week, Gold; and twice a week for the 4th CONSECUTIVE week, Platinum. The 1st donation of EACH WEEK is $20 regardless of your member level. It's the 2nd donation of each week that pays increasingly more -- but you can't miss a week for any reason). If, for instance, they bruise you on your first appointment of the week, they won't let you donate again until the bruise goes away, so when you are able to go back, you have to start over at the bottom Bronze rung again. Even if it is their fault. Doesn't matter. The whole process including the actual blood draw, takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours (before the actual donating you have to get checked in, answer a questionnaire on a computer, get your blood tested for iron and protein levels, and have your vitals taken each time before going to the donation table) -- that is, if there is not much of a line between steps. Also, you can go through the wait, complete the questionnaire, and have your blood tested only to find out that your iron level is too low and so you can't donate, and of course you don't get paid at all for the time you spent up to then. That also will put you back at least a week, which will also put you back to the bottom rung of "member status" ladder the next time you go in. (And you'll probably need to take an iron supplement if you want to continue). If you skip a week for any reason, you're put back at the bottom again. It's absolutely NOT easy money. It's POSSIBLE to get as much as a few hundred dollars a month, but it's structured so that you most likely won't be able to. read more

Pay scale is ok but for the time you spend here since the employees who enjoyed working here have left you will spend 90-150 mins easily. 9:20 on a Saturday morning and I've already waited 70 mins to give plasma. I don't come often due to long wait times. Six seats open and it takes them an additional 10-12 mins to seat someone. They just hired 7 people and the employees here today seem to not wanna be here. This location is the absolute worst. Don't do t really explain certain things to you and then if you have an issue they don't really care. I was supposed to get $130 as my last payment for a new donor and they gave me $20. I asked about it and they said that I was ONE DAY late! I wish someone would've told me this prior to me doing my donation! Smh. I talked to a lady sitting in an office and she was like.. yeah, you can't receive the $130. This is just unprofessional and not acceptable; no one told me that I had EXACTLY 30 days. Not to mention that I was on schedule for every appt and one day I walked outside for 5 secs w/ the lady at the front desk watching me the entire time, and only for her to tell me that I can donate. Mind you- my car was parked directly in front of the bld so she watched me the entire time as I walked to grab my jacket real quick and didn't say a word. I asked her if I could do my questionnaire over and why nobody told me this and she just told me that it's pasted at the computer. She really didn't care and seemed annoyed- I work at the front desk of a doctor's office & we treat patients with respect. This will definitely be my last time. read more

I have tried two times to sign up here. I am a regular donor at another plasma center but this one was super close to my house. I guess the "nurse" didn't care for me or maybe my race was an issue with her she kept making the excuse that my glands were swollen. I went to my Dr twice and told her what happened and both times she said the nurse didn't know what she was talking about my glands are normal I just have large tonsils. I finally gave up trying this place and went back to my normal plasma center in Lawrenceville read more

They call to remind you of your appointments and that's great. They lost my and my husbands blood sample to test our protein and we drive 45 minutes to donate and I'm not able to because of their error! They don't call and tell you to not come because you can't donate! Now their error missed me and my husband both from reaching our $500 in 8 visits! Today was my 4th visit, as I received a promotion of $100 foreach of your first five donations. The first 3 visits went pretty smooth with no issues. I have veins that are hard to find, which I understand can be a challenge. Most of the girls that can't find them at least have the courtesy to try to get someone to help them which is fine. Today when I went in I had Stephanie assisting me, she admitted that she had problems finding side veins but she went ahead and tried to do it. I was fine with that because she was still gentle while doing it. Once she had me connected she realized it still wasn't pumping properly so she went and got "Paula". This is where things start to go downhill, she started moving the needle around which is fine and thought she had it. Once it stated pumping slow again she asked if I had ever tried the other arm, I informed her no its the same way. Her response"well we have to try". So at this point I am starting to get a bit frustrated because I'm the one getting poked. I still went ahead and let her try the second arm. When she inserted that needle I felt every bit of it, there was no gentleness at all. It felt as though she just jammed it in. While she was inserting the needle I grimmest in pain because it was just that painful. When the second arm wouldn't pump she went to adjust the needle again, that is when I informed her that we may need to call it a wrap since you can't find it. Her response "well you won't get paid". Is this truly how you treat your donors, especially when you see you're having a challenge why not get a supervisor. Upon leaving I spoke to one of the supervisors "Are" which seemed to be understanding of the situation. I informed her of the comments, and "she responded by saying since she poked both arms you will get full payment". At that point is wasn't about the funds, but the lack of dignity and respect. Once I did get home and check the funds, they only credited $20... I understand they were busy, but this isn't how you treat people. read more

Poorly managed and it seems as if no one enjoys working there what so ever. Horrible atmosphere there now and it only seems to be getting worse. I won't be going here anymore. I went with a friend. It was my first time going. She had been before years ago. She stopped going because she said she felt pain. I have donated at other centers and have not really had bad experiences so I encouraged her to try again. This was the worst. I told the people around me that my arm was hurting. This was a pain I have never felt before. It was sharp and overwhelming. They said my cuff was probably too tight. If they loosened it at all I didn't feel it. They kept looking at my machine and no one was talking to me. I had to ask what was going on just to get an update. I have experienced mediocre customer service previously in my life so I just rolled with the punches so I can get paid. By the time I got off the bed my friend was in the nurses office crying. She told me that she felt excruciating pain shooting up her arm and she felt like nobody truly cared. They wrapped her up like they do standard donations and sent her on her way. This was not a standard donation considering the amount of pain she was in and not being able to complete the donation. I know that all plasma centers work differently but having worked at one previously I know some of the minimum things that you can do to help someone. They didn't offer her even an ice pack. Her arm was swelling she couldn't move it and this was days ago. She still in pain. They told her the needle could have permanently damaged a nerve. No sympathy. No offer of any pain medicine that comes standard in most first aid kits. No mention of a potential hematoma and the urgent need to ice it. The nurse suggested we go to a primary care physician. I told her THEY ARE CLOSED. There's a whole pandemic right now. She had no more advice. The manager, short brown skin man with glasses, said they would give her 30$. She got 20. What a nightmare. read more
