They treated me professionally and compassionately. My concern is with an organization that appears to prioritize revenue over patients. I came to the emergency room because I believed I was experiencing a medical emergency--not because I had a choice. I left not only grateful for the medical care, but shocked by the charges that followed. As an insured, working American who pays taxes and health insurance premiums, I found it difficult to understand how basic items and routine services could be billed at prices that seem disconnected from reality. Patients don't comparison-shop during emergencies, and they shouldn't be financially punished for seeking care. The standard response is always, "That's just how healthcare works." But those prices are set by people. Leadership chooses the policies that determine what patients are charged. The medical staff earned my appreciation. The billing practices earned this review. I hope the leadership of this organization takes a hard look at whether its financial priorities truly reflect its mission to care for the community.

The surgery was performed at Northside Hospital on Johnson Ferry Rd. I was admitted to Northside Hospital's 2nd Floor Neuro for recovery. I couldn't have had a better experience! Every single nurse and staff treated me with the upmost care, professionalism and personable attitudes. I chose to stay longer, because I knew I was being taken care of above and beyond! On May 19th 2026, I decided to have my lower lumber surgery done by Dr. Paul Jeffords and once again performed at Northside Hospital. Once again, I was taken care of beyond all measure and stayed additional days/nights, because I knew I was in the BEST care EVER!!! On July 28th, 2026, I had an additional spinal surgery performed by Dr. Jeffords and his team. This surgery was performed at Northside Hospital and once again, I was treated with the utmost care one could want. I, again, chose to stay an additional day, because of the superior care I received from all of the nurses and staff on the 2nd Floor. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Paul Jeffords and his talented group, Scott Siegel, Shelby and Elissa! The lobby was literally empty on a Saturday. My loved one was evaluated immediately and there was a clean room available and staff who checked in frequently. We saw a friendly doctor who actually read the chart. It wasn't cold and we had cable tv to watch. Because it could have been minor or serious, my loved one was fed and given a room in the "Clinical Decision Unit" to sleep in overnight to wait for an MRI. Our room was comfortable and I was able to sleep in a recliner. The staff brought blankets and a pillow. This may sound normal but it's a world away from Emory University Clifton hospital where we paid to park and waited in a freezing lobby crammed with sick people for 15 hours before seeing a doctor. We literally heard people screaming because they were in pain. There were no doctors, a nurse said someone died due to lack of staff, one of the security guards was stabbed in the hand, it was like a horror movie! Even if you called 911 and arrived on a stretcher (which is recommended to fast track service), you'll be lined up stretcher to stretcher to freeze and wait like the rest of us. It took several days and constant checking for an MRI, whether you were admitted to the hospital or not. And I'd still choose Emory Clifton over Decatur or Hillandale.. But now we have a better option. The only area for improvement at St. Joe's would be a cafeteria open on weekends but food delivery is available. We don't always need an ER but when we do, we will go to St. Joseph's. It's worth the drive!

There was no monitoring throughout the night - only taken during triage, once before discharge... SERIOUSLY??!! Fire someone in the 180's - 200's, one would absolutely expect consistent monitoring, via machine or human. They hung a saline bag, never used. I actually had to advocate on her behalf to keep them from unnecessary blood draws. We will most certainly be examining the bill, once it arrives!! At the slightest hint that they realized I was not going to let them run unnecessarily tests on her, they backed off and quickly discharged her. This is definitely not a hospital I would recommend for anyone with any high blood pressure or cardiac conditions! Am I doctor, no. Have I cared for ailing parents and experienced this type of bill padding - YES!

5 stars for the hospital and staff…read more 1 star for the ER I changed my loved ones insurance to have Emory. It's a higher standard of care and I like teaching hospitals even if 5 scribes and students always accompany the doctor. HOSPITAL/CLINIC Self-parking and valet is a headache and expensive unless you're admitted for three weeks or longer, then you can buy an in and out pass. No parking validation for emergencies. Although the ER and hospital rooms have WiFi, common areas and clinic lobbies lack cell service. Uber drivers can't find you because there are several hospital entrances. Allow plenty of time if you have more than one appointment in different areas (A, B, C). Eye doctors are on three different floors which is confusing. Emory is huge so take advantage of wheelchairs if needed. Some doctors don't read the chart so be prepared to repeat yourself and take notes. Nurses are caring and hard working and the ICU is excellent. There are filtered water fountains & a cafe that's always open for delicious hot meals or snacks although the prices recently increased. Take a pic of the patient menu and call their order in. Clean and comfy rooms have couches, cable, storage and a couch/recliner for guests, some even have views. I love 'My Chart' where records, appointments, prescriptions and communication with your provider is just a few phone clicks away. The ER is another story entirely. EMERGENCY ROOM First visit was for a serious emergency which required surgery. The stay was extended several days for an MRI. We were told even patients arriving in ambulances were lined up stretcher to stretcher to wait for an MRI. Second trip after an accident involved a reasonable wait time and thorough care. But the third visit was the last. We waited in a freezing lobby crammed with sick people for 15 hours before seeing a doctor. We were given a wait time via app which extended until updates stopped completely. I've never heard such bloodcurdling screams, one patient in back sounded like he was being tortured. From 4pm to 6am there were NO DOCTORS. A young man was was crying out in agony after losing his mom. Sadly, people were taking their frustration out on the front desk person due to a lack of security. One guard ran out from the back after being stabbed in the hand by a patient. I had to go for a walk to calm down while my loved one froze, waited and starved. No-one informed us of a cafeteria. Thin blankets were handed out and patients were told no meds without first seeing a physician. We didn't see one until the morning shift arrived. The nurse admitted someone died due to lack of staff and she was going to quit. Thank God my loved ones injury was not life-threatening. I filled out a survey and never heard from Emory. As frightening as this ER experience was, I'd still choose this campus over Emory Decatur where previously, a serious omission was made during surgery and the room wasn't clean. Grady isn't even in the running. But since we're privileged enough to have a car, we'll drive the extra 15 minutes to St. Joseph's for future ER visits. SUM Emory University Hospital (Clifton) has room for improvement, especially regarding ER and parking. But cleanliness, care, comfortable rooms, My Chart, meals and staff are recommended.

Every member of the staff I encountered treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern. My room was spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The Environmental Services staff did an outstanding job keeping everything spotless. On the first morning of my stay, my wife immediately commented on how clean the room looked--something she had never said during any previous hospital stay. The staff thoroughly cleaned and dusted the room, mopped the floor, and even changed the trash bag even though it was barely full. Their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I also noticed a small device under the sink that I later learned was a Synexis air purification system. It operates so quietly that I never heard it, but I was impressed to learn that it continuously helps improve air and surface quality by generating a safe form of hydrogen peroxide. It was reassuring to see Northside Hospital Cherokee investing in technology that helps protect patients from the spread of germs. The food service exceeded my expectations. There was a wide variety of menu choices, the meals arrived on schedule, the portions were generous, the food was served at the proper temperature, and every meal was exactly what I ordered. Hospital food often gets a bad reputation, but that certainly wasn't my experience here. My discharge process was one of the smoothest I've ever experienced. Nurse Brenda made sure my wife and I had everything packed so nothing was left behind. She asked my wife to bring the car around to the entrance, and within just a couple of minutes I was on my way home. The entire process was efficient, organized, and stress-free. The highlight of my stay, however, was the nursing staff. Their compassion, professionalism, and positive attitudes made all the difference. Brenda and Elizabeth cared for me during the day, while Nancy and another night-shift nurse--whose name I unfortunately cannot remember--provided excellent care overnight. Every one of them treated me with respect and kindness, and they always seemed to have a smile on their face. They should be highly commended for their dedication to their patients. If I ever need hospital care again and have a choice, Northside Hospital Cherokee will be my first choice without hesitation. Thank you to everyone who made my stay such a positive experience. Your hard work and commitment to patient care are truly appreciated. Irvin F

Staff was friendly at the check in counter, and I did not have to wait too long to get signed in. I had already spent 50 minutes on the phone for the preoperative interview.
