I arrived in Houston when my mom ended up in the hospital to discover that she is a hoarder. Her home was unfit and unsafe for her to return to after surgery. I had no idea what to do or who to call for help. I typed in "Hoarder Cleanup" and came across Bio-Tex. After spending 10 minutes on the phone with Angie, I knew they were the ones for the job. She's the only woman involved in this industry and the only ones that actually help "sort" the items instead of just clearing out everything. Many of their clients are older women like my mom and it takes special people to treat a situation like this with compassion and efficiency at the same time. The whole crew was excellent, I even hired one of them to come back the next day (Brian - total sweetheart!) I truly couldn't have done this without them. This is a company that is a niche business which if you ever need their help: man oh man will you be so glad it is available. Unfairly, Bio-Tex should have a ton of good reviews here on Yelp, on Angieslist, and on Google Maps, but there are two reasons why they probably don't: 1. a ton of their business must come from people who have been traumatized because their property was the scene of a crime, they are horrified and probably grieving. And/or 2. a lot of their business must also be from people who are dealing with a hoarder situation, and people can feel embarrassed about making that public, or exposing that a family member had that problem My father died just before this last Christmas, in his Houston apartment. My sister and I both live out of town. He was both a relatively clean hoarder (a "clutterer"?), but also adamantly still renting in an apartment complex with an entrenched bed bug infestation. We felt overwhelmed to come in to Houston, tackle all the complex issues of burying him properly and handling all the documents and organization which must take place when a single adult dies suddenly. After an online search, I was lucky enough to find someone who had a similar situation when her mother died, and who had used Angie and her cleaning company. And this woman was big enough to be candid about using their services and being so glad she did. So I need to pass that favor along and not be too embarrassed to tell the truth: Angie and her people were amazing. They came into his apartment with HazMat suits and were careful to go through his things to pull all documents and things of value, emotional or actual, and set them aside for us. Then they had dumpsters to properly dispose of everything else with our okay. She has a scanner and shredder, and even a generator for situations when they need one where there is no power. She is a licensed firearm instructor, and can handle situations like ours where my father had guns. She knew how to properly unload them, and zip tie them for a legally safe way to remove them. She knows even how to get appraisals for things you'd like to sell but can't handle doing so for yourself. Basically this is a smart, organized, business woman who hires the ideal people for her line of work: a lot of tough, totally unsqueamish hard workers who can handle cleaning a crime scene in a crack house, or combing through the life time accumulation of a hoarder, or even cleaning a situation where there has been a dead body in place for a very long time. I can't even imagine the stories they have that they could tell of their experiences, but all of them were too efficient and polite to be inclined to do so. It depends on the situation and how much you need them to do as to how much it costs you. Our bill was well over 10k, but they did everything for us. They provided all the dumpsters, garbage bags, etc. We just stayed on site, sitting at a table, to sort through what they found that might be of importance. If anyone dangerous had been around, I am sure they even could have deftly handled that. Angie helped my sister with selling my father's car, and guns afterwards for a commission. It is unbelievable how many things this competent woman can handle because of her knowledge earned through experience. If you only need more simple help, I am sure the cost would be much less. But this was the situation we were in, and if we hadn't hired Angie and Bio-Tex, it would have been a nightmare for us in addition to the heartbreak it already was. I wish someone would make a documentary about Angie and her crew - it would be absolutely fascinating. read more

This company saved me from having a complete nervous breakdown​. I was faced to deal with absolute vile and filthy remains from tenants. It was so bad I was scared to walk through the home. Garbage, cat food, dog hair, animal urine, dead mice, and heavy items were stored in the home. Not to mention flees!!! The crew came the next day and completed the job!!! read more

They came into my absolute *disaster* area of an apartment like a tornado of goodness and they left me with a wonderfully clean, uncluttered, LIVABLE home again! I cannot say enough good things about Angie. Our situation was a bit different-- we were clearing out a hoarder's house after a police raid that had been taken over by drug addicts and felons, and we needed it done very fast. So not only was it a mess (piles of clothes and mail, needles and syringes on the floor, filthy kitchen), it was a potentially dangerous situation. She immediately put me at ease that not only had she seen it all (she does, after all, clean up after murders and suicides), but she had dealt with it all. She explained her process- which for us began with a bio-hazard cleanup, and while I was willing to have everything thrown into dumpsters, she immediately spotted several items of value that could be sold at an estate sale, another service she offers. In two days, her team had the house picked up and staged for an estate sale; she advertised it in at least six places (and sent me links to all the ads); we had final approval of her amazingly organized price list spreadsheet (her attention to detail is seriously off the charts) (which must have taken hours of internet research to determine value of certain items, like dozens of collector's plates, which looked like junk to me). She even said we should sell all the clothes in the house, which reeked of cigarette smoke (many sold). She also did all of this in June in a house with no A/C. Her team is great. Very fast workers. She is always early. She found buyers for the antiques. She sent progress photos each day. She is worth every penny. There were a few hairy moments during the week when some troublemakers who had been evicted showed up. She handled it. At one point (this was all a very stressful, tense situation because of the felons involved) I sat in my car out front, crying. She came and sat with me, calmed me down, made me laugh. After it was over, we smashed some leftover glasses into the trashcan. This woman is a gem. She is very fast, very thorough, very knowledgeable. I would hire her to do anything. read more
