Amazing food, great vibe, really fun place to be! Small interesting menu, good vegetarian options and a nice healthy wine list

The interior is just like the demeanor of the staff: warm, likeable, and feels like home. In fact, it was incredibly difficult to determine where we wanted to dine, because of the sheer cuteness found in the decor and ambiance of The Grumpy Mole. It was just too damn nice outside to take a beautiful, sunny day in England for granted. So, we opted to sit on their patio and enjoy a near perfect day. Knowing how delicious the curry is in the UK, I opted for that choice and my high expectations were met. The chicken was tender and well prepared. The curry flavor was abound but not overpowering, while the naan and rice were soft, not stale. But the real highlight of the experience was the charcuterie plate packed with meats, cheeses, olives, and more. If only I had the fortune to return to England more often, then I would visit The Grumpy Mole on every visit. For now, I will dream of that day and hope it is on a cold, winters night, where the interior of the Grumpy Mole is cozy and warmed by a crackling fire place, of which I am sitting by while sipping on a piping mug of cider.

Getting in a little late to go to London, we turned our attention to something close to the Gatwick airport. After finally sorting our Uber rides, we were off to The Farmhouse. First impressions were of a traditional British pub experience, which was a good start. Our clumsiness of grabbing a table and figuring out whether we needed to go to the bar to order or wait to be served, surely gave us away as "not locals." Our server was friendly and provided us with our menus and took our drinks order. The one shortfall was that the menu had a number of items not available and with an assist from a customer, two of us needed a rethink on their meal. In all, it was 4 Fish & Chips, One Farmhouse Burger, and a Battered Halloumi burger, plus an order of calamari, and 4 tomato and garlic soups. There were zero plates taken off the table that were not empty! I had the Halloumi burger, which had a great, crispy batter topped with some guacamole mayo with a red sauce on the side. Really good. Then we doubled down and hit the dessert menu! Two warm chocolate brownies with salted caramel ice cream and four plum tarts. We asked for some custard on the side because who doesn't like custard?! Save for the debate about whether it was more a pie than a tart, another set of empty plates were the only evidence left. Would definitely recommend The Farmhouse!

Last time we went, I had the tasting menu with wine, and the only complaint (if you can call it that), is that if I'd drunk all the wine it came with, I would've been just that, drunk. Each course was blissful, exquisite for not only the mouth but for the nose and eye. I can honestly say I've never been anything but thrilled by the food served here. One problem (which keeps it from being five stars for me) is that The Dining Room isn't very intimate, something I'd appreciate with a restaurant with its price range. Let's face it, this is a special occasion place for most people (we rarely got out for under £150 for two), so I'd prefer to feel like I was in my own little space rather than alongside the other punters. Along those lines, The Dining Room suffers from the same problem Reigate itself does--a lot of people with new money (or more money than manners) who like to show it off, often in a loud and (once, anyway) obnoxious way. I've found that each time there was at least one table for whom the night was obviously just another meal, so were taking the opportunity to be loud and showy, ruining the atmosphere for those looking for a nice, intimate dinner.

The food is always just OK and no better than that and the atmosphere is non existant. Just give up the pretense and either make the effort to go to London or just nip up the road to the Gurkha Kitchen! If you really have to visit this place then don't admit it to anyone.
