It was a really hot day and I fancied something light and this place sorted that, being newly opened we thought we'd give it a try and quite glad we did.
Walked in and were seated straight away, ordered 2 Chocolate brownie milkshakes which were nice but given the cost (£3.25) could have been put in a much bigger glass (e.g. GBK/Byron's Size) but instead it just came in a normal glass and was half drink half whipped cream and was lukewarm. It was so small we ended up ordering a glass of coke each.
To start I had the chicken liver parfait with Bill's chutney, toasted potato and rosemary bread, mini gherkins and a jelly. I've had this many a time at other places and this was really nice. The gf went for hummus and tzatziki with grilled wholemeal pitta and crudites.
For mains I had king tiger prawn and salmon skewers on a salad of black quinoa and mango with red chilli, tomato, cucumber and watercress This was really nice, just the right size (2 sticks) and I'd definitely have it again. The gf had marinated half chicken chargrilled corn fed chicken marinated in a mix of delicate spices with coriander, lemon and yoghurt, served with spring onion and coriander rice and a yoghurt dressing which I tried and again was nice.
The bill came and was £50 and had annoyingly a 12.5% service charge already on there that I did not notice being mentioned on the menu, it said optional but they added it on there so you would obviusyly look tight if you said take it off.
Two things need to change here, 1) Make the shakes colder and in much bigger glasses and 2) REMOVE the 'optional' service charge.
Would we go again, maybe but prices are a hinderance. read more
