Bill has been sweeping our chimney for a couple years. We met him when getting a second opinion on a previous chimney inspection which claimed our chimney would basically have to be rebuilt. He debunked every single thing the previous business claimed, showing me each item and why it was a non- issue. He's a no nonsense, salt of the earth guy, he does a great job, he cleans up, and he's very affordable. But where he really knocked it out of the park was installing a wood stove. After a few years of open fires, we came around to the efficiency of a wood stove. Bill sold us a great stove, and installed it in one morning. I was there every step of the way ( I'm a very hands on person and love to learn how things are done ) and was beyond satisfied with his work. The furnace hasn't kicked on once since the install, take THAT PG&E! He's the ONLY one I would recommend! read more

Highly recommend Bill for any and all chimney needs! Excellent service, clean work, highly knowledgeable and freely shares his expertise without any hard sales pitch. My chimney was quite dirty with lots of creosote build-up. Bill charged his quoted price (very competitive rate) and was in and out in about an hour. Plus, he is just a good guy who I will definitely call again. read more

We have been having Bill clean our fireplace and chimney for over 10 years . He has a fabulous work ethic and never leaves any mess. He also does windows; in and out and cleans and shines our solar panels. read more

Bill just left my home and my windows are sparkling! My house has tons of windows, skylights and solar panels and they're so hard for us to clean. But Bill shows up once a year (I should probably have him come twice a year though) early in the morning, works hard for hours and uses a lot of elbow grease and what must be magic because the entire home seems to sparkle from the outside in when he's done. I can't recommend him highly enough for window and solar panel washing!!! (I don't have a fireplace so can't speak for his chimney sweep service, but if his window washing is any indication, I suspect it's stellar as well.) Oh, and he's also a really lovely person! read more

Lori answered Yelp messages regarding quote and setting up appointment super quick, and Bill was also easily reachable and responsible via cell phone. We are first time homeowners and moved into a home with a fireplace that we didn't know how to use, and didn't really plan to. We noticed that there was a draft and that the lever to close the damper was not doing anything. With all the smoke from fire season and the heat waves, we were really concerned about the airflow that was going in/out from our chimney at all times of day. Bill arrived and ended up teaching us how to use our fireplace, and also discovered the damper had been installed backwards and was permanently stuck. He gave us a quote for labor and parts to install a new damper and was able to come back to do the work as soon as the parts arrived. Just in time for the second wave of bad air quality days we had recently. Our air purifier didn't need to work nearly as hard as it had the first wave or last year, and we didn't smell smoke in the house. What a relief! We also changed our minds about not planning to use the fireplace as we learned it's not a wood-burning type, and he showed us how easy it was to use. Thanks so much Bill! read more

We called Bill to come clean our old chimney so we could start using (we bought our current house and hadnt used the fireplace yet) so instead of just cleaning our chimney Bill reccomended putting a wood burning stove in instead, he buys and refurbishes old stoves so we decised to move forward with a wood buring stove, Bill was awesome to work with, very nice, very honest and did what he says he will do, we cannot be more happy - If you need anything done with your Chimney from a regular cleaning to getting a stove please give Bill a call, he will take care of you! Thank you once again - read more

Bill's Diablo Valley Chimney Sweep - Window Washing Near Me

Called a few places before settling on Bill because he had the best price and more reviews on yelp. Bill was very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. This in our first house and I didnt know anything about my Chimney and Bill was happy to teach me and answer my questions. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Will use Hill again for all my Chimney needs. read more

Arrived when he said he would and completed the job efficiently. He was careful to keep the room clean as he worked on the chimney. A very nice guy who I would recommend without hesitation. read more

Bill came on time for our chimney sweep, was efficient and careful around furnitures around the house. Before he started working, he wanted to show me the condition of my chimney and pointed things I should pay close attention to. I'm not a profession chimney sweeper but having hired other people to fix things around the house, Bill is definitely the kind of guy you want working around the house. He was fast, he knew exactly what he was doing, he was careful about your property, and he wanted you to be educated about the process along the way. After the job, Bill wiped down the fireplace to make sure he didn't leave any soot on the frame, I couldn't be happier and highly recommend! Oh and Lori, so easy to get in touch and responds very fast, please do send them a note if you need a fireplace/chimney cleaning! read more

So I didn't actually use Bill since he is on medical leave right now, but he answered my call and gave me some valuable information to help with my search for a chimney sweeper. I very much appreciated the free advice and will be using Bill for my window washing needs and maybe even my chimney sweeping needs in the future. Very pleasant and knowledgeable guy. read more

Bill was nothing short of amazing!!! To start, he was on-time to the minute, something I very much appreciate given that everyone has busy schedules these days. We asked him to come over since we recently purchased our home and we wanted to ensure our chimney was safe for use and that it was clean. Before he began his work, Bill made it a point to educate me on what he was doing. He was extremely patient in answering each and every question, even questions as basic as his thoughts on how to best start a fire. It's rare to find services that are willing to take the time to teach their customers on what to look for. Most providers are rushed to cram in as many jobs as possible, but I never felt like that with Bill. Thereafter, he prepared the area around our fireplace to ensure no debris from the chimney sweep would land on our rug/furniture during his cleaning. I was both impressed and appreciative of the care he took of our belongings/home. If we ever need our chimney swept again or our windows washed, I will definitely use Bill......I only wished he offered other services!!! read more

Very professional service performed by Bill. On time, efficient and would recommend him to others. Will use again when needed!

We have a difficult chimney with a malfunctioning frozen damper, and an external cap damper. Bill came over diagnosed the problem, cleaned the chimney and removed the cap damper so we could install our insert. He's incredibly knowledgeable, and did not charge us extra for help removing the external cap damper mechanism. Honest, reliable and punctual. We made the appointment all through yelp. We will use him again for window cleaning. read more

Bill is just great! Professional, knowledgeable, and lovely to work with. I'm sad I don't recall the lady's name who answered the phone because she was fantastic too. We were in the midst of purchasing our first home and weren't sure we needed to have the fireplace inspected. He came out for that and offered to return to fix up the gas fireplace lava rock, sand, and vermiculite once we closed on the house. Cut to a few weeks later- when we had just picked up the keys- and I was drowning in a long list of to-dos when he called me to check in. And is scheduled to return to fix it up. I'm excited to see how nice it will look and so grateful he followed up. Takes a little stress off me and shows that he cares. read more

Fast and friendly service! Bill was in and out in an hour, gave me some great tips on wood to burn this season and gave me some tips on how to save energy (and $$). Would hire Bill again in a second. Highly recommend for all your chimney sweeping needs. Until next time, Bill! read more

All of the positive reviews are accurate. Bill was great! He was able to come early for our job and was friendly, professional and a pleasure to work with. He completed our job quickly and gave us some tips on how to better use our fireplace. Highly recommended! read more

Re: fireplace insert replacement with a clean burning stove. What a difference, for the better. We started a fire this evening and the stove heated up quickly to 400 degrees. With the fan on we were able to heat down the hall in about 2 hours compared to 2 days with the old Earth stove. Very little smoke out the chimney. Beautiful watching the flames. The old stove didn't have flames when opening to add wood, this one does. Bottom line...we are very glad to have had this Lopi Revere stove installed by Bill (Owner) Bill's Diablo Valley Chimney & Window Cleaning. Bill & his associate Mike did an excellent job all around. Bill is an all around great guy. I would definitely recommend Bill without hesitation. Keith read more

Bill was the best. He was informative, on time, funny and made sure he didn't leave until all my questions were answered. His wife, Lori, was also very quick to respond to our request for a quote and was communicative with a timeline on when I should expect Bill the day of the appointment. We will be using Diablo Valley Chimney for all our chimney/ fireplace needs. Thank you! read more

Bill came out to inspect and repair our fireplace and chimney. He was always professional and an expert in his field. Post inspection, he recommended a wood stove. He sourced and restored a wood stove and returned to install it. Bill was an absolute pleasure to work with and have in our home. And we love our wood stove! read more

Pretty gruff guy on the phone. I cancelled because he seemed disinterested. Went with a outfit in Martinez

I had Bill come out to clean out a fireplace in an old home, he was quick, efficient and on time. He explained what he was doing and why. He has the character of an old time business owner, holds himself to his word and if it wasn't for Covid a handshake. would of been in order. He had to come back with a Spark arrestor and told me he would take a picture and send it to me as the house was empty at the time. Sure enough the following week he installed the part and sent me a picture. read more

Decided to use Bill's services because he came recommended and quoted a reasonable price for chimney cleaning and inspection. He said he'd text me back to schedule the work. Fine, no problem. I reached out in the meantime to inquire if he was Fire and CSIA certified. He responded that no he was not and defensively pushed back at the importance of these certifications and told me to take my business elsewhere. Other reviews about his gruff nature seem spot on. Why would a professional be upset about a responsible homeowner inquiring about someone's certifications? seemed like an odd response and that we dodged a bullet. read more

Bill was great. In and out in less than hour. He had a ton of knowledge and experience. Very happy

Bill was great! He probably saved my house from burning down. I called a few places listed on Yelp and I was not really impressed with what I heard. Due to reviews I asked Bill to come check out my old house chimney. He showed up on time and started the inspection. Turns out my damper was so warped and rotted and there was damage all around the firebox that if I lit a fire it would have been very dangerous. He gave me a few options and said think about it then call him. That's exactly what I want to hear from someone. I did not feel pressured to do anything at all (one option). After great explanations about what he could do and estimates I waited a day then decided to go with a rebuild of the firebox and replacement of the damper instead of a wood burning stove (another option). He worked maybe 10 to 12 hrs over 2 days to finish the project. Along the way he was really professional. He obviously knew what he was doing, and he was very nice and entertaining. Doing this fireplace work seems to be a lost art and he treats it as such with care and dignity. Cool guy and very trustworthy. read more

Bill is a wonderful guy. Very approachable and knowledgeable about his area of expertise. My experience regarding the work was less than perfect based on a few things. My appointment was set for 10 am and we were asked if we could accommodate an 8 am visit. We agreed. He showed up 15 minutes before 8am. No issues. Happy to accommodate. My expectation was that the charge I was quoted was for cleaning 2 chimneys. Bill spent 5 minutes to inspect the chimneys and told me they are clean and handed me a bill for upwards of $500. Seriously? You did no work other than looking up the chute and you charge that much. I asked him if he charges that much for just 'looking' and actually cleaning and he said yes. I wish that had been made clear before he came for the inspection. read more

Bill inspected our chimney, swept it out and completed a new mantle, hearth and facia for a reasonable price. Excellent work. I would highly recommend. read more

$500 for 90 minutes work may or may not be the going rate, the fact remains that I would never have started the job at that price. The price was misrepresented, this was not confusion on my part. read more

Bill was great and informative! Really knowledgeable about fires and fire places. I highly recommend Bill I'd you have any issues at all.

We needed our chimney inspected and cleaned, and also wanted an estimate on converting to a gas fireplace in the future. Other companies I reached out to wanted to charge much more *just* to inspect the fireplace, then credit a portion of the charge to the cleaning, which was a separate charge. Bill's estimate for inspection and cleaning was very fair and I am so glad that we went with him! He arrived on time, wore a mask, and explained everything in detail. His set up ensured that our white hearth and white area rug stayed clean while he worked. Once he was finished, he gave us a quote for converting to gas and it was also a very fair price. If you want a chimney sweep who will do great work without breaking the bank, Bill's your guy! read more
