Three months ago I had my car delivered to these guys. After two months I was really surprised they…read morenever called me. I gave them a call and they said they had a wrong number. They told me the number they were calling must have been incorrect and said they left messages, voicemails, etc which wasn't possible because the number they claimed to be calling was a disconnected number, proving they were lying straight to my face about leaving messages. After all this was resolved they hit me with a $3500 quote. I get a call that the work has been completed and get a ride over to their shop (over an hour away) the car wouldn't start and couldn't even be jumped. I leave the car and get another ride back home. They call me a few days later and say they fixed the issue. I go all the way back out there again to pick the car up. After saying they were going to fix the issue on them because it was their mistake, they charged me for the labor. On my way back with the car it stalled out while going 50mph 4 times and was struggling to start back up. The next day the car didn't even start at all. In my attempt to bring the car back to them today it broke down and wouldn't start at all. Bringing it somewhere else seems like the best idea. I will not be coming back and will be letting others know not to go to them. On top of everything they put their oily hands on the cloth of my door card. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND.

He never made good on this, he just lied and lied and gave excuse after excuse. Oh, and I had to take it to the dealership in Traverse City because he don't bolt back down the supercharger and he almost cost me my engine. He's a burnt out, red neck, with a hillbilly junk yard. What should have been a restful communion with the outdoors in Northern Michigan turned into a harrowing, stressful time. After AAA towed my car to dry out at the hotel, and I left my husband to comfort the baby, I took my limping vehicle into town in search of anyone who might diagnose the OED 2 code. I didn't have the handheld reader with me and I direly needed to know whether my car's check engine light was the result of something minor -- say, a misfiring piston -- or something serious to justify staying another night in town. I came upon M&M Services after driving slowly to get an oil change elsewhere. Their Open sign glowed like a beacon. I pulled in to find a young man in the office, one bay occupied with the garage door down, and their hours boldly displaying they were open for another hour yet. Prayers for resolution answered? I explained my situation and asked if he could hook my car up to a OED reader. Advanced Auto Parts, Napa, Carquest, and other car parts stores with complementary reader services all shut an hour and a half before. There wasn't a dealership in Petoskey or Harbour Springs to help, and I couldn't trust taking the car an hour away into Traverse City. M&M had every ability to help ease my mind. "Are you from around here?" asked the kid. "No, I'm on vacation. We drove up. I am in a tight situation," I said. I should have shut my trap and nodded. "Can't help you." What?! You're open. You have a mechanic. I am not asking for anything untoward, I could hook the cable up to the OED2 port myself for all it mattered. He gave me the most uncaring look and went back to his desk, staring off into space. You are an auto shop. You are open. There are no other customers and I showed up an hour before the stated closing time. No one was working on a vehicle. It was a very simple request I was willing to pay for, if only to get a better idea of the diagnostic code. It turned out to be Cylinder 1 misfiring due to water getting into it, a simple fix by removing the spark plug. I found that out at O'Reilly's in Detroit -- something that took literally about 8 seconds to read. The non-existent customer service during a small crisis was disgusting.

We finally found N&J and when we called Norm answered, heard our issue and said he could fix it that day assuming it wasn't something beyond the brake line. It was towed to them using our AAA program and between Norm and Joey they quickly started on the issue for us. After replacing the line, bleeding the brakes (sorry Norm, I know on my Chevy that is a pain....) and 2.5 hours later I was on my way. $312 was one heck of a value for out of towners desperate to continue on to our final vacation destination in the U.P. Reading the negative reviews I have to wonder if those people really appreciate being helped in the worst of situations. This shop and specifically Norm and Joey were outstanding, friendly and very kind. They made a terrible situation for our family a fleeting memory a few hours later and the cost was reasonable compared to my own shop at home. Labor rates are determined by looking them up in a book. You can't miss it by 40%. I was also grossly overcharged for a 10 mile tow ($250). They saw the out of state plate and took full advantage. Bill's Standard Auto Repair was already closed, but we parked in the lot, dropped our keys into the key drop-off box with a note, and then called the next morning. They told us that they could fix it by the end of the day and they did. They called us when it was finished and it worked like a charm. The cost was better than we were anticipating too. They're located next to an auto parts shop, so they're able to get pieces pretty quickly too. They were really nice in person and are only a few minutes outside of downtown Petoskey.
