I contacted Appliance Repair Services when my Samsung electric dryer stopped heating and I had confidence in Lee from our initial discussion. On the phone he told me some of the issues he'd seen with electric Samsung dryers in the past and what those repairs might cost. I appreciate that he provided this feedback on the call so my husband and I could talk through some scenarios that evening (e.g. if the repair price is over $x we'll get a new dryer). Just as Lee said he would do he called me the next day when he was on his way and he was perfectly on time per the time given the day before. Given COVID he wore a mask (as did I) which I appreciated. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to replace the bad heating element. His business description says that he tries to stock commonly needed parts in his van and lucky for me, he had the part that was needed to effect the repair on his first visit. Hooray. I really appreciate the effort that Lee puts into assessing commonly needed parts, ordering them, stocking them and floating the costs. Overall it took Lee an hour to assess, fix and test my dryer for what I thought was a reasonable fee for such high quality service. It feels good to know I have a reliable appliance repair company in my proverbial Rolodex!

So he comes and charges $99. And it would go towards the repair if decided to move forward. He comes and takes about 5-10 minutes and tells me it is the igniter and it would be $347. for total. I already had done my research and know that the part is $35 and I could pickup from a local appliance part store in Montgomery County. Or order directly from Whirlpool for under $50. So when I asked him how much is the part, He said $149. Then I asked him if he had the igniter already or would he have to order it? He said he's prepared & has it in his box. I had then asked him to see what it looked like. That's when he tells me " I cannot show that to you, I have already told you too much information about it." That's when I put an end to it. I will not put up with shady business people, businesses allowing this. I paid the $99. As first agreed and told him to get out of my house. He is an older man that needs to realize that people ( no matter the gender or race of their clients, potential and now-Never). The part was under warranty from LG (10 years) but the labor was not. He dealt with LG to get the part. He then installed it and it is working better than ever. I have a temp probe that I have been monitoring it since I first had a problem. I attached the graph from when he worked on it and within hours it was down past 0 degrees. His work was very neat and took great care to protect the floor with a protective plastic sheet. Replacing the compressor is a BIG job with discharging, cutting, brazing with torch, programming circuit board for new model compressor and charging the sealed system. He was very reasonable and quoted exactly what was needed and a flat rate for the labor. No surprises. Considering the number of hours involved, specialized gear and delicate work, it was a bargain! Without a question I will call him for any future work.
