I also had them give my 2014 FJR…read more1300 a 4000 mi service as I bought it last year with only 1838 mi and had crossed the first 4000 mi mark. They were fantastic! I called them on Wednesday PM I dropped off my FJR1300 on Thursday AM The work was done by Thursday PM The tire change went as expected at a fair price. And during the 4000 mi inspection and service, they discovered a mouse had started building a nest in the airbox, so they cleared that up and verified no other damage was caused by the mouse. They also found that my 4000 mi 2014 FJR had brake and cluch fluid that had turned brown over the years of sitting (which I expected might be the case). So, they replaced and bled both. They also found my Shaft splines were dry so they lubed those properly. Finally, they gave the bike its full inspection and tightened everything to factory torque specification. M & M only takes cash and their pricing was far better than the dealer quoted. I must say, the guys at M & M seemed super knowledgeable and fair. They also did not push work that was not needed. For example, they recommended I buy tires online from Revzilla to get them cheaper than if I had M & M get the tires. I did do that by the way. All in all, I highly recommend M & M Motorsports!!!!

Motoworks has Vespas, so I went there. This place is high end and they clearly expect high end customers but I'm a teacher and not rich, so I hoped for some financing, much as I might if I bought a car. Motoworks encourages you to apply for financing online with a soft pull to your credit, and make an appointment beforehand to visit the showroom, so I arrived expecting an easy go of it. Happy to report sales people were enthusiastic about all their bikes when I got there, and never tried to upsell me. I appreciated that there was space to make decisions. Getting started was fine, and picking out the bike was positive. Nina encouraged me to try out different bikes on the floor until I felt comfortable, and I felt good about the bike I picked. All the people on the floor were friendly and helpful. Then things got weird. I sat around for two hours waiting to hear about financing paperwork for a 5k purchase. Nobody there gave me any insight about interest rates, expectations for money down, or even quoting a price besides the sticker amount. I was finally presented with a printout where they financed half if I paid cash for the other half, on the spot. Purchase price by then was up to 9k after taxes, freight fees, and a murky $800 "maintenance package" that had no details on paper. I wanted to leave the shop and come back the next day with my ducks in a row about the 4K cash from me, but of course they don't want you to leave. Finance lady suggested I ask the "gal" I came in with to help pay with a card. Then she asked if we were married, and told me it was OK to ask my wife to help me pay because our money was shared anyway. Thankfully my "gal" did step up with a second card, but it was an awkward surprise that didn't need to be so weird and nervy. At that point Finance lady was feeling ill, so Finance man came in to finish the sale. Finance man spoke curtly to me about parking bike on street. Finance lady offered me theft program. Why? Did they assume I lived in a bad neighborhood because I parked on the street? Plenty of people park scooters on the street all over Chicago. By now I am thoroughly rattled. After that I finally walked out and got the bike. Bike is stunning and peppy. Sales people were kind as I left. Financing guy provided registration and a plate for me to drive home with. Nina filled the bike with gas, showed me how to use the key, gave me a tee shirt, and gave me a hug before I drove off. Great stock, huge shop, and outstanding salespeople, but do your own financing before you go pick out one of these spectacular bikes.

The ease and transparency of traveling from New York to pick up the bike at their Chicago location was greatly appreciated. I was nearby enjoying a National Historical Site, and saw the Go Karts as I drove by. I thought "So much fun." What a great place to have in the community . They have protective wear to use your Toys responsibly, and they have a Tool Department and Repair department as well. I did not make a purchase. But I do believe if I asked them , the performance and repair questions, they would have been helpful. They took pride in their store and their work. That's awesome. Very unique find!
