Stopped by here to try some Indian cuisine. I haven't had any since moving to Overland Park. It's a really friendly environment and they have a nice menu. Good choices! The employees who helped me were very nice. I got an eggplant dish with rice and really enjoyed it! The eggplant in the romance was so flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly! I really hope this restaurant holds steady in Johnson county. I think they offer mostly vegetarian dishes which is hard to compete with in the meat centric midwest. The thing about Indian vegetarian dishes is that there is such a cornucopia of spices and lentils/ beans/ etc most people don't even miss the meat. The service here is good, it's interesting because it's a slow drip of your order, they basically bring everything out a little at a time, I don't know if that is done by design. but, i do like it because it gave us time to appreciate the flavor of each dish. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Bikanerwala shop in Overland Park since there aren't many Indian restaurants around Kansas City, and I must say it was such a sweet addition! It just opened in July, and the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the fresh aroma of sweets and savory dishes. It's a 100% vegetarian restaurant, so no meat or fish is served. They have a wide variety of sweets from all over India (my favorite was the Bengali sweets). They also offer beautifully crafted gift baskets for Diwali, along with Indian dry fruit gift trays that would make perfect festive gifts. At the restaurant, we tried the chole bhature and raj kachori with tea. The chole bhature were so delicious that they took me right back to India, and the raj kachori was great too. I loved that the tea didn't come with sugar already added, which is rare in other Indian spots where it's often too sweet. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff were really polite. One of them even stopped by our table to check on how we liked the food! They were also playing some nice Hindi songs in the background, which I really enjoyed. Overall, I had a great experience, and if you're in the mood for some veggie food and want to try a variety of Indian sweets, definitely give this place a try! read more

I like Indian food but am no expert. The menu was set up differently than what I am used to (from Seattle). It didn't matter, the staff was sooo friendly and helped me pick the perfect dish - tomato based masala sauce with paneer and rice. I know there is a big focus on sweets at Bika, but I came for the entree and leave very very pleased. The flavors were wonderful and the medium spice level was perfect for me. Go mild if you aren't used to spice. The rice and a plain naan helped soak up the amazing sauce. I didn't need the raw red onion garnish, although pickled might have been nice. I really like the vibe of this place, bright colors, clean and excellent tunes kept me bouncing through the meal. I will definitely come back when in town and looked forward to a Bikanervala coming to Seattle soon(I hope). read more

I liked the good variety of vegetarian Indian foods, sweets and snacks and the first-rate service at this new restaurant, but the kitchen was a little slow. My tandoori platter ($15.99) was served with a smile 27 minutes after I ordered at the table. It had generous portions (maybe enough for two) of delicious dishes and several pieces of warm, delicious naan with plenty of flavor and a medium spice level. I was their first customer, which was cited as the reason for the delay. Each employee I encountered was cheerful, polite and helpful - including the manager. I also noticed a focus on cleanliness. I found the dining area to be festive, clean, new and open with Indian background music and plenty of natural light. This is the vegetarian Indian restaurant that KC needed! We stopped in for dinner and ordered the deluxe thali and seasonal thali, which are both combo plates with around five dishes, including rice and a dessert. These were delivered relatively quickly on large trays, along with naan and parantha breads; the idea is to use the breads to pick up the dishes, creating a delicious mini sandwich in each bite. Our food was delicious all around, and you really can't go wrong with any of Bikanervala's thali combinations. We ordered medium spice level, which was perfectly zingy without being overpowering. Our server was friendly and helpful in creating the thali combinations that would be ideal for us. I also enjoyed the ambiance, which is bright and open, with upbeat Indian music and festive decor. Warm, Inviting, and Always Delicious! Bikanervala is such a warm and inviting spot! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently tasty. Everything I've tried has been delicious -- from the dosa and chole bhature to the raj kachori and paratha dishes. And you really can't go wrong with their sweets! I also love that they have a drive-thru -- super convenient. The staff are always friendly, and the place has a cozy, homely feel. The owner and his son are often around, making sure every guest gets great service and food. A truly lovely place -- one of my favorites! read more

Unclear how desserts are priced so I somehow got two small boxes for $30! The shahi paneer I ordered very mild and it was pretty darn spicy but tasty and creamy. The two small dessert boxes: I picked somewhat randomly, about 3 or so pieces per box and the lady told me I needed to add more to make weight or something... so I ended up with probably 6-7 pieces total. The boxes were very small and I wish I got a photo but I feel like $30 for pretty but mostly very very similar tasting desserts (all are small Indian petit four or tart type pastries) is absolutely highway robbery especially when it's not clear anywhere how the pricing might turn out. Anyway, I got burned once and hopefully this prevents someone else from ending up with an outrageous bill for a couple small condensed milk and ghee based finger food desserts. read more

Decent Indian restaurant! Tried out the Tandoori Platter. It came with paneer tikka, dal makhani, and butter naan. It was really good! Paneer pieces were decent quality and had good flavor. The dal was also really good. The naan went well with both the dal and paneer. Service was also decent (the food was bought out fairly quick). Only thing that I wish could have been improved upon was the spice level. Asked for a mild level of spice, and after a little while, the heat in the paneer and dal was a little too much for me (even though they had great flavors). As long as you can eat a little bit of spice, this hopefully shouldn't be too much of an issue. Overall, I still enjoyed the food at this restaurant! read more

Just to give a little introduction about the cuisine, this is a traditional north Indian cuisine, this is a great chain of restaurants all across India, and now started in America since few years. We are glad to have this restaurant in our city. This place is predominantly popular for North Indian and Rajasthani chats, Evening snack items with the freshly made sweets and snacks etc. We been to this place couple of times with family. I must admit that the staff is super nice very helpful and eager to help and serve the food. Everything is made fresh in the restaurant since they are new. They're trying their best to make sure that they understand what customers need and how they can do better , if you're not new to Indian food, I recommend you guys to go talk to somebody and understand what they serve and then order instead of ordering first and not liking something. There's also a drive-through which is amazing. You can just wait for a couple of minutes and your food is ready And there's a has a great ambience neat and tidy place. Okay this new place has been open a day and a half, technically they're in their second day and they were slammed and I have to say they did a fabulous job --staff is on it they're doing their best and yes it's hectic. Let's get to the food it is vegetarian but as the meat eaters of the nine person party who were a little skeptical they all commented how happily full they were at the end of the meal. I literally think we got one of everything and everyone loved all of it and would give it a five-star rating maybe the saug might get a four by all but I love saug. I think we all would say if we went back we would get the platter a The platters ( Tolly) cool and you get a little bit of everything including the fun little pink dessert. I found out about this place recently. It's vegetarian but they are very accommodating for vegans. Staff is friendly and was able to help me order some really tasty food. I ordered masala dosa and idli sambhar. I'm not Indian but the food was well spiced and had amazing flavor. I was pleasantly surprised to find food of this quality here. Pricing is reasonable, I was able to get full on an empty stomach for around $20. I will be bringing my friends and family here! read more

I have been here twice. The menu is huge. All vegetarian. Even the drink selection has a few choices including International sodas like Thums Up & Limca. The vada pav is very authentic, very faithful the street style served in India. Service was pretty quick, food was still hot when it arrived. It's set up like a fast food restaurant but dine in service was nice. You just order at the register and tell them which table number you are sitting at. Didn't even have to grab any utensils as they did it for me. Definitely coming again. read more

I was excited to see Bikanervala open in the US as they are a common chain for snack foods in India. However, like another reviewer pointed out it is very expensive and despite knowing Indian food and desserts somehow ended up with a tiny box with 3 pieces of expensive dessert. I told the lady behind the counter we wanted two pieces of specific dessert items and she said it was cheaper to get 3 and she would box it. So we agreed and then proceeded to tell us "you can only add specific pieces to this box deal" which excluded the 2 items I initially had mentioned we wanted. We ended up with 3 similar pieces of overpriced dessert and not getting the items we wanted. Quality wasn't the freshest. read more

Indian food in a fast food setting anyone? I love Indian food. I ordered a few starters. Samosa plate and a Chhole Bhature and an Indian eliminate soda. The samosa was good. I loved the green sauce. It was tangy and complimented the samosa very well. I have never tried Chhole Bhature, the young lady working the intercom suggested it. Talk about a home run. That was delicious. I ordered it medium spicy. Good experience. A little suggestion is to always include napkins for drive through orders. I'll be back! I wish I took photos but I ate in my car today. read more

I wanted to love this place. But, no way would I ever go back. The dining room was practically empty, yet I waited 40 minutes to receive my small order. All while I watched to go orders come and go. My recent experience at Bikanervala was not only a repeated experience but also it was worse than before. We recently (5/30) visited with family and ordered food for dine-in and some for takeout. The first order was served on time until this time it was good. We ordered another entry of Paneer momos and this time we wanted to try our steamed ones as first time we tried fried ones, which was just okay. The order was served with few mins, and it was not the same we ordered, they brought the fried momos. We politely said we ordered steamed. The server said no sir it was fried and now that it's already been made, we can't change this order. We explained her and then the other person from the counter came and she said same now that we have made, and you didn't ask specifically that you want steamed so by default, we make fried momos. After we said, we can't have them, she finally agreed to make steamed ones however she said it will take 15-20 mins. We waited for 40 mins, and it was still not served. I asked the counter how long we have to wait, she said it's being prepared and want for some more time; apparently she also acknowledged that the order taker was new and she made the mistake and you ordered steamed momos. We waited few more min but then left; it was almost 45 minutes from the time we ordered. This is the similar experience we had before (at the time near opening ceremony) we were served different than what had ordered and on top manager argues with you and says customer is wrong. I don't know why but the customer service is horrible. I have decided not to come back here. Restaurant business runs on two basics things, customer service and food quality. If I were to pick, I would say customer service is even more important. You guys are setting up for failure. I have heard the same comments in my circle. We went on Friday evening when you'd think the restaurant would jam packed, but we were the only ones, few people came later but no where near to what you'd expect on Friday evening. This also speaks what you guys need to do to get better and more foot traffic. Back in India, Bikanervala and Haldiram are the two fast food my favorite. When I saw you guys are coming in town lot of people were excited. Including us, however it's very disappointing with the service you provide. read more

My first time to visit this restaurant, I ordered Shev Puri, Idli sambhar & Dahi Bhalla. Attached pics are of Shev puri. First of all, I eat Shev puri all the time in other restaurants but, in this restaurant they make totally different, it had Moth Beans, black chickpeas and No Tamarind sauce, bland, tasteless. These 2 stars are for Idli sambhar. It was good then rest all dishes! Dahi bhalla was bland too with no salt. I would say service is 4star and Ambiance is 3star. read more
