I called a girlfriend and told her I'd found a new spot: wine, charcuterie boards, and live music. Sounded like a perfect evening. When we arrived, a young employee did her best to find the hostess and get us seated. After a few minutes, she honestly seemed more flustered than we were, she apologized and offered to seat us herself. We got settled, I ordered a margarita, and then I noticed a large dog roaming around. No leash, no owner in sight. (Later found out the owner owns the bar, the regulars are very familiar with the dog) I looked down at the menu, then looked back up, and the dog was literally face-to-face with me. We got up to leave immediately. A dog-friendly patio? Sure. That's completely fine. But allowing a dog to freely roam throughout both the outdoor patio and the covered upstairs area is baffling to me. (My last visit a dog was on the table, I assumed the young staff just didn't know how to approach the situation, but tonight shows this is how Hideaway operates day in and day out) When I explained my concern to the waitress, she said she understood and asked me to close out my tab for the one margarita I had just ordered and hadn't touched. No ma'am. I'd been there less than ten minutes, and for me, this crossed a line. Clearly, some guests enjoyed it. I saw people petting the dog and calling it over. Different preferences, and that's their choice. But mine is different. I won't be back, and if I recommend this place to anyone, it will come with a warning: dogs aren't just allowed here- they appear to have free rein of the space, whether that's on tabletops, near your food, or directly in your personal space, whether you want that interaction or not.

I'd been wanting to try Grump's in River Oaks for quite sometime. I'm usually passing by on Sundays…read morewhen they're closed. This time I'm passing by on Saturday and it's my chance to visit. And boy am I glad I did! The food was delicious! I had the mushroom Swiss cheeseburger, and my friend had a regular cheeseburger. Nice and juicy. We had chili cheese fries which were as good as any I've ever tasted. They serve Dublin's soda pops made with real cane sugar. That's a major plus, too! The staff is friendly and the dining area is nicely decorated with old style advertising signs. And they have complimentary peanuts to snack on while your order is being prepared. So happy to have finally tried Grump's! Looking forward to many future visits. Shout out to Starlee for her friendly service!

Burgers are still great, service too but…read more.. Had our usual trip to grumps for a great burger and yummy fries. Well, you can scratch the yummy fries. The corporate powers that be have changed the fries and they really suck now. Instead of the crisp, seasoned fries they used to serve the fries are now a bit thicker and mushy and gummy. It was NOT a preparation issue, it is a poor quality product. We were very disappointed and will never order them again. Hope the big wigs at Grumps realize that the money they may be saving isn't worth sacrificing to quality of the food they serve.

A living legend that kind of lives up to the legend…read more The vibes? Immaculate. A classic of Fort Worth. Is it as good as I remember it from my childhood? No, but it was still great without the rose colored glasses on. I had a hamburger, fries and a hot dog (for old times sake). Everything was great. Fries were perfectly crispy. Burger was beefy, well cooked and plenty big. Hotdog was well a hotdog. Service was quick and easy and the whole thing went smoothly despite the fact it was a busy weekend lunch. A Fort Worth classic worth returning to.

This place is an institution. It's been here forever. And it has stood the test of time for good…read morereason. It was originally a grocery store that also served burgers. But the burger counter was so popular, now the whole place is a classic burger joint. And the burgers are really good -- as are the onion rings and fried okra. (We haven't tried the fries yet.) The onion rings are flavorful, crispy, and surprisingly peppery. You order at the counter, and they call your name when your order is ready. Everything is packed to go but you can eat there (they have plenty of seating). The only issue I had was that if you go to the tables to sit while you wait for your order, you can't hear the names they're calling out. They offer beer and ice cream as well, including Shiner and Blue Bell. Go Texas :-) I had the regular cheeseburger, "Cowtown Style" (with grilled onions and Jalapeno). I loved it! It's an old fashioned place - a trip down memory lane - a throwback to simpler times. And I loved it!
