I used Bigge 17 years ago and swore I would never use them again finding them arrogant and uncooperative by intentionally running up the hours in a back and forth debate with their corporate office and my crews over rigging ,crane set up, load weight or anything else one could possibly want to debate while their crews sat idle.
The job eventually got done but only after costly delays and the experience resulted in my Co owning a small fleet of ( 4) -14.5 to 120 ton hydrocranes with zero on the job crane accidents over 18 years in biz,( how many accidents/ fatalities has Bigge had?)
Fast forward to the present, I happened to have as job close to their San Leandro facilty so I thought I would give them another try. Being skeptical, this time videotaped every scratch on their 130 ton RT I bare rented and was pleased to find they did not send me a repair bill when I returned it like the previous time I bare rented from them however, when my powerful client delayed delivery of the crane 4 weeks, they billed me for an extra month as I signed their contract and they said they had an opportunity to rent the RT, O K so I did my best to get the $ for Bigge but they refused when my client offered to pay half of the $28K bill, forcing me to either eat the $14K or sue my customer.
Bigge knew my small business would not sue the worlds largest and richest company so here we go, the same Bigge of 17 years ago, a Greedy Bully of a company who was not happy with 50% ( $14K ) that should have covered all their profit and most if not all their overhead for a crane that was parked in their yard, no hours on the meter , no wear or tear.
For me whats important is how folks work together to solve the inevitable problems that arise in everyday business , thats what counts for me.
I have had a great experience working with Hatton Crane in Northern Cal and Hydrolic Crane in So cal read more
