This is a cozy, no-frills place with quite a few booths (that are comfy!) and a high ornate roof. I…read morelike that the tables were not cluttered close together and so it would be a great, not-too-noisy place for conversation and working. However, some of the booth seats seemed a little old and torn, and the window area by the booth seemed a little dusty, like it could be neatened up more often. Other than that, we really liked this place though. First, the service was warm and excellent. The staff were great at answering questions about the menu and giving recommendations. Next, the chocolate butter tart was excellent! There are two options of butter tarts (a particularly Canadian treat), a plain one and a chocolate one. Having consulted a server, they highly recommended the chocolate butter tart for chocolate-lovers. The tart sides were delicious, and similar in texture to an egg tart. The inside was gooey and almost like chocolate sauce with a rich buttery base. The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face. All in all, it's a great place to chill and relax if you're not too fussy about everything being perfectly spic and span. As I said to my friends, sipping my coffee with my chocolate butter tart, "this is the life!"

Wow! The workers here couldn't be nicer. It's like they really like working here…read more The food is very outstanding. A little pricey, but worth every penny, (even though pennies are no longer used in Canada). A great place for a date too.

I couldn't avert my eyes. The hypnotic yellow shack on wheels. Waiting in the coffee line dare I read the menu- breakfast sandwiches appear- a ham, a bacon. Something with Jalapeños, is that a Texas toast- The Big Momma had me at Texas- the rose of sandwich breads called me. Plan made. Order coffee, pay, run to Cheese wagon, back for coffee, back for sandwich. I can do this... Small chat ensued, grilling occurred and a successful acquisition of a Big Momma in my hand is a white paper sandwich bag holding it safe. A dash to the car between rain drops. Heaven- Texas Toast, egg, ample bacon, American cheese- 2 slices ( I don't normally choose American) it worked today. Maybe it was the overcast day, the yellow beacon, the gravel parking lot or the reward after a great yoga class, but the wagon and I have merged- We were one in the cheese. God safe the neighborhood the cheese wagon is here! Stop on by so that u can keep having mornings like these. Keep a small business on wheels here in mid town, PoHo I love it!

Simply put, the consistency. The thing about Starbucks is that I run my own territory and when I need a place that I go an sit down that's warm and or air conditioned with a coffee to my specifications and wifi that is easy and quick to connect to, Starbucks in that place. Say what you will about it's high prices for coffee or "hipster" attitude, the $3 I pay for a coffee is well worth the sometimes 3 hours I will sit in their stores sending off reports or doing work in a solid environment that is always the same no matter what Starbucks I go to. And this is what i love best, consistency! I love Tim Horton's as much as the next, but you can't go from one to the other and get the exact same tasting coffee every time. Bonus note: If you sit in the front of back of this coffee shop they're plug ins galore. Happy caffeinating
